  1. These games would be more fun to watch if we sucked less
  2. We need some guys with Canadian names. Like Cam and Gord. That'd help our team.
  3. We're the worst team in the East by far. And, we've score the fewest goals in the league. This roster was ###### last year and it is ###### this year. The only difference is last year we had an above average power play and this year it is lousy. We have the fewest 5-on-5 goals this year and only 11 power play goals in 32 games. I don't think any coach in the league could get much out of this pile of ###### roster. I actually have more respect for Bylsma for winning a few games with these guys (mainly on the back of a strong power play). Our "scorers" don't score. The only guy producing is Kane and we're hell bent on running him out of town. I agree with pi partially in that you can overcomplicate it all you want, but the guys who are paid to generate offense need to do so. Period. And, Reinhart is one of those guys (as is Jack). Blaming linemates is a copout. BTW - Reinhart has played 200 NHL games now (199). He's not a "kid" just learning the game any more.
  4. Another boring game by a team that struggles to score more than 1 goal per. ...We just don't have any firepower.
  5. Watching the Predators dominate Vancouver (7-1 right now)... There isn't a more talented team in the league 1 through 20 than the Preds when healthy. ...And, they're still missing Ryan Ellis.
  6. The last 5 minutes had some exciting moments and a few good chances, but the first 15 minutes was about as boring as a hockey game can possibly be. Safe play after safe play.
  7. I'd do this but I think we need to hold onto the pick since it'll be top-5 for sure. At times I think Buffalo fans seem not to recognize that we've been one of the worst teams in the league for several years running and we have almost no organizational depth. A big shake-up is fine by me. This collection of players obviously isn't getting it done.
  8. Lehner is one of the worst shootout goalies in history. If we hadn't lost there, we'd almost certainly have lost in the shootout. Was a good outcome to get a point after starting the third down by 2.
  9. Got outshot by almost a 2-to-1 margin by a team playing the 2nd of back-to-backs and missing two of their three best players. We play hard, but our talent just isn't there.
  10. Rodriguez is more of a baseball name than a hockey name.
  11. It helps if you listen to this while you watch Sabres games...
  12. Only 9 shots more than half way through the game. And, I think many of those were on the power play.
  13. Blues missing two of the best players in Pietrangelo and Schwartz. Doesn't matter. They're still dominating play.
  14. Got the Blues feed. Half watching. Because. Whatever.
  15. Dortmund finally fired Peter Bosz. About ###### time. 12 straight without a win after a dominating start to the season.
  16. Drink every time Rick says "whack at it"
  17. Good thought - there actually is a media mention effect, empirically shown, whereby stocks mentioned on Mad Money and Midday Call (and similar shows) receive an immediate boost after being mentioned. Am not a fan of Cramer myself. But, his business is entertainment not necessarily being right.
  18. Let me put it this way... Read this (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/29/business/taxes-offshore-repatriation.html?_r=0) and other articles that you can find (WSJ if you have access)... and think about how corporate executives are compensated. With a tax reduction from 35% to 5-10% on overseas cash repatriation, will firms respond as they did in 2004? or will they suddenly hire a bunch of American employees while waving American flags? You can easily figure out which firms have the most cash stockpiled overseas (mostly tech firms) and then make a judgment about how such a tax change might affect their corporate strategy (harder to do if you're not in my line of work)...
  19. This gets repeated ad nauseum (invest in the market) and it isn't correct for those who are seeking super-normal returns. Random walk and efficient market theories are just plain wrong. It is very possible to beat the market if you know what you're doing. This is borne out in the academic literature. That said if you only have a small amount to invest and/or are counting on the yield for retirement, then of course play it safe (bonds, market index funds, etc.). But, if you have a higher risk tolerance and have some money to play around with, there are all sorts of strategies that can yield better-than-market returns. Something that has been on my radar of late (and has influenced my investments over the past few months) is tax changes on overseas cash repatriation. The biggest cash horders are tech firms - Apple, Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle. Do a bit of research on what might happen to these stocks if/when the GOP tax plan goes through. (I have my own strong opinion, but don't want to sway judgments on a message board)
