Maybe we need a malt liquor appreciation thread.

...this is the around the NHL thread? 2 games for Cowen's dirty head shot on Gus last night: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/jared-cowen-suspended-2-games-for-girgensons-hit-1.2459808 Of course, it barely knocked Gus off stride since he's a freakin' bull.

SlayerBob's Christmas lights display is pretty much the great thing I've ever seen. How'd you like this guy to live in your neighborhood?

I rarely go to Taco Bell, but for some reason I wandered over there this afternoon for lunch. Tried the new Triple Steak Stack. Surprisingly good... if you can handle the high cholesterol, high calorie, high sodium, ...

I didn't see it, but the Columbus announcers were saying the linesman was trying to convince Corey to go to the room instead of the box.

Tropp is always game, but he loses far more fights than he wins. He took a few to the chin from Sills and was a little wobbly.

I'm not anti-hops by any means. I just think it has become an American obsession... an arms race among brewers... "hopsessive compulsive" behavior: http://www.slate.com...ion.single.html
-
This is so true. For no apparent reason, the primary dimension of competition for U.S. microbrews has become hoppiness. They dump more and more hops into the beer, as if more hops is universally better. My German friends think it is ridiculous that Americans love hops so much!

He had 3 straight 70+ catch, 1000+ yard seasons prior to this season. Like it or not, he is the only receiver on the roster with any history of success in this league.
-
Strome leads the AHL in scoring. He is beyond ready for a regular role in the NHL. BTW - aren't the Isles the worst team in hockey since acquiring Vanek?
-
McKelvin just isn't very good. Johnson has his moments of greatness, but his inconsistency (e.g. big drops at key times) is infuriating. I'd be down with replacing both. This year's draft has a bunch of good WR and CB prospects.
-
I've never seen him play, but UB OLB/DE Khalil Mack is listed as a possible top-10 pick on most draft sites. He'd be a good hometown pick, maybe? Despite the usual crappy record, I still think the Bills are going in the right direction. Through 12 games they are 16th in total offense, and 17th in total defense. That's an improvement from the complete ineptitude we've seen in past years. I think today's game is just a reflection of the team being down after last week's loss, which pretty much ended their playoff hopes. Draft needs: CB, OLB, OL, TE, WR

Local Nashville band called Diarrhea Planet. Song is called Ghost with a ######. Check out the guy with the mustache at 2:08. He rocks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52cfxs4kZ4o

I'd like to complain about the term "competitive juices." It is stupid and borderline disgusting. (see Buffalo News article about the Sabres from today) ...And, Bio. We're good at rationalizing what we should and shouldn't do, but I think true happiness comes from the subconscious. Don't try to "think away" what your subconscious is telling you (whatever that may be).

The article is wrong - they definitely scored on the power play. The Preds had all the momentum prior to that. Also, there was another questionable goalie interference call a couple of minutes before this one.
-
The state of refereeing in this league continues to disgust me. In the Preds - Canucks game (which I was at), Hornqvist brushes the defenseman who brushes Luongo who then takes the most ridiculous dive I've ever seen. Ref calls goalie interference. Canucks score on the ensuing power play. Game, set, match. Disgusting. http://www.sportingn..._medium=twitter

Pysyk reminds me of a better-skating Chris Butler (who is playing very well in Calgary BTW). Not physical, not going to add much of anything on the offensive end, but sound positionally and doesn't make a lot of mistakes (the anti-Myers in that regard). It is easy to forget Pysyk is still a rookie this year. I think he'll develop a bit more offensive game with time.

I agree that at this point we're well beyond "wait until next year." It's like the story of the boy who cried "wolf." After a certain point you stop believing it. And Stevie = Ronnie Harmon. If a guy folds when the game is on the line instead of stepping up, he needs to go. This isn't a one-time thing. It has happened before with Stevie... usually with big drops.

The same thing happened in Hershey yesterday. It is a tradition. Last year's video:

We play 9 away games a year thanks to our miserly owner Scrooge McWilson. Miserly old bastard. I agree that playing at home can make a difference.

Creme Brule might be a nice addition to a roster full of pound cake. ;)

Pommer has 1 point and is a -8 over his last 7 games.

The Nashville Predators holiday card is pretty good this year! http://holidaycard.n...epredators.com/
