  1. I don't get to watch any Amerks games, but supposedly the top pair of McNabb and Pysyk is playing great down on the farm. Might be a pairing we'll see in Buffalo next year? I know one of the reasons for drafting both Risto and Zad this year was they can play as a pair (one is a natural right-sided player, one is left-sided player). Two future pairings for the Sabres, perhaps?
  2. I think stats are telling over the long-term, not the short-term (e.g., today's -4). Looking at the stats, one can make an argument that Tyler is getting worse year-over-year rather than better. I think he has played better under Nolan, but the mistakes and poor decision making in his own zone remain. Personally, I find it frustrating that after close to 5 full seasons and over 300 NHL games we're still talking about how good Big Tyler might be a few years from now... when should we expect that to happen? Age 28? Will it take 500 NHL games? 600? I think our judgment of Tyler's potential is perhaps unconsciously affected by the constant comparison with Chara. There seems to be an assumption that since Chara took a while to develop, Tyler will too... because both guys are tall? And tall guys always are slow to develop? Yet there are a ton of top defenseman (e.g. Shea Weber, Suter, Keith, Seabrook, etc.) who were already stars by year 5 in the league. Personally, I'd trade Tyler and his "potential" for some scoring if we can get the right return (e.g. wing scoring). Between McNabb, Pysyk, Risto, Zad and McCabe I think we'll find a top pairing in the not-too-distant future, which in my mind makes Big Tyler expendable.
  3. It looked like Foligno got shoved into the net there... (I may be the only one left watching at this point, however) :(
  4. Tyler Myers is a -4 in this game and counting...
  5. Leino is the worst player I've ever seen... for the love of ######, why is he on the roster still? John Scott has more goals than Ville.
  6. THAT was the call on Scott? 2 minutes for pushing a guy?
  7. Weber is down to a -29 on the year. Big Tyler is down to -24. 2nd and 3rd worst in the NHL.
  8. He was tired and needed to rest on the ice for a bit. :flirt:
  9. What just happened? A Sabres goal? Say it ain't so...
  10. Jesus, Leino just got abused on that play. We're in full on sucktitude mode in this one....
  11. Was at this game last night. David Legwand scored the game tying goal with 10.8 seconds left on the clock (above). Shea Weber then won it in OT. As you can imagine, Bridgestone Arena was absolutely rocking.
  12. The Coyotes are in a dog fight for the last couple of playoff spots. They can't afford to lose at home to the worst team in the NHL. Costly loss for them.
  13. I kind of like Scott's work in the corners. He is so huge he just stands there with the puck near his feet and guys bounce off of him. Of course, in open ice he is one heck of a liability...
  14. Nathan MacKinnon is no joke. Kid just scored his 19th goal for the Avs on a beautiful breakaway shot. The Avs are loaded at Center.
  15. The Kings are in free fall mode. For some reason they can't score. I wouldn't doubt they had/have something in the works for a guy like Moulson. Hopefully he isn't seriously hurt. If he is then I actually think the best move would be to resign him.
  16. Konopka was a strangely good pickup. Having a guy who can win big faceoffs is something this team hasn't had since Goose was traded.
