  1. The Devils need this game badly... what a kick in the nuts for them if they get anything less than 2 points against the Sabres.
  2. Any period in which we're not outscored is a pretty good period for the Sabres.
  3. What is going on with Joel Armia? How is he looking as of late?
  4. I shake my head at a lot of the quasi-empirical arguments of the "a team first must be really bad to be really good" variety that are thrown around this forum. There are so many factors at play that I see nothing to suggest to me that the Sabres (or any other team) can't get very good by simply having a front office with a keen eye for talent and stringing together a series of solid personnel moves (trades, signings, draftings, etc.). Folks are working themselves into a frenzy with the thought of losing on purpose around here. As for the Preds, they didn't have their star goaltender for almost the entire year. The team is clearly more talented than last year... but no goaltending (Rinne hasn't been good since his return BTW).
  5. Not I. I've never been pro-tank in any season of any sport. I think the objective is always to field the best team you can and win as much as you can. And, that's what I'm hoping Murray chooses to do next year.
  6. Translation: we're desperate for anyone to come watch this pile of excrement... So much so that we'll create diversions so that you maybe won't notice how utterly unwatchable the team is.
  7. It hasn't been discussed much on here, but moving the Isles to a basketball stadium in Brooklyn creates a pending PR nightmare. The arena was never designed for hockey. So to fit a rink in, it has to be off-center and many of the seats have restricted sight lines. The number of seats that can actually see the entire rink is at maximum 14,000. The scoreboard hangs over the blue line. Just a very odd decision for Wang to move the team to his buddy's basketball arena. The Isles are basically a catastrophe from top to bottom. Check out these sight lines at Barclay's Center: http://nymag.com/dai...t-barclays.html
  8. One of the zambonis stalled on the ice when they were clearing the surface for the Preds - Caps shootout in Nashville. Bizarre. I've never seen that happen before.
  9. WADR, it is pretty sad that we're excited about the return of a guy who has only scored 6 goals... as if that'll make a damned bit of difference on this team. Don't get me wrong, I like Gus and recognize he's got a ton of "up side" but... ;) It's not the player or the induction, it is the timing of the ceremony that is an obvious attempt to keep fans interested in a team that is for the most part unwatchable.
  10. The Hasek ceremony is a blantant attempt to keep people interested in this pile of ###### they call a hockey team.
  11. I was at that abortion of a game. Luckily alcohol is my friend... An oddly high number of Sabres fans there.
  12. Oh, I agree completely. I thought Ville and Weber might be the worst passers in the NHL... until we picked up Mitchell! :P
  13. I hope the reason Mitchell is sitting is because he is the worst passer I've ever seen.
  14. We should probably move him to goaltender... 'cus he's big.
  15. From my perspective, the "no marketable skills" part is true for many students, not just athletes. ;) ...and you'd be surprised at how many D-1 athletes aren't just athletic merceneries, but are actually smart, go to class, and learn.
