Yeah, it was obvious watching last night's game that the Flyers were trying to play a physical, nasty brand of hockey. Finished all of their checks, lots of little cheap shots, lots of extra stuff that went uncalled. But, that is exactly the style that you see in playoff hockey from most of the top teams. And, it was clear that the team we put out there last night was totally unprepared and unable to handle that sort of game/style. Our smaller guys were getting tossed around like rag dolls (Rudy, Conacher, Ennis, etc.). We brought a knife to a gun fight. I do think some of what went on is a function of injuries. Murray has always favored bigger, physical forwards and several of ours were missing last night (Stafford, Foligno, Stewart, Konopka), plus Hank and big Tyler on defense.

My German colleague who is a hockey junky mentioned that Leon Draisaitl's father Peter was a famous national team player in Germany for over a decade. Peter now coaches HC Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Extraliga. IMHO, D'Agostini is basically Matt Ellis with slightly more skill.

First time tonight. He is a -1 (that play). And, he and Risto have played about 10 minutes more than any other d-man.

Considering 4 goals have been scored against him, Liew has made some great saves and hasn't been terrible. $6 million per year over 5 years ought to do it! :D (another goal against... whatever...)

Jake McCabe needs to adjust to the speed and physicality of the NHL... he is a -3 and has been knocked down about a half dozen times.

The Flyers actually have guys who drive the net and score "dirty" goals. Wish we had some of those.

Yeah, there is cheap stuff going on all over the place. My long-standing issue (not just in this game) is all of the "accidental" interference that nullifies the dump-and-chase game.

I hate the Flyers. Bruins, Flyers and Carolina might be my three most hated teams... for no particular reason.

I really hope we get some guys back healthy so we can send as many players down to Rochester as possible for the playoff run. Sending down Adam, Larsson, Deslauriers, McCabe, Rudy, Risto, Lieuwen, and Hackett would surely help the Amerks.

The all rookie pairing of McCabe and Rudy scares the crap out of me... but we already clinched dead last in the standings, so I guess it doesn't really matter.
