Yep, they have to say that. No point in showing your cards early. If another team thinks you'll draft "their guy" it opens up trade possibilities. And, I'll go on record as being the only person on this forum who thinks we should take Draisaitl if we draft 2nd and Bennett is gone. Murray likes size and Leon has NHL size already. And, amid all of the Reinhart hysteria on this board, Leon Draisaitl put up the exact same number of points, 105, in the same league (WHL) as Rhinehart, but on a worse team. (Although, Leon did play a few more games than Sam) BTW - one of the reasons Bennett is the #1 rated prospect is he is almost a year younger than the other top rated guys.

This is true, but a lot of those teams have 5 veterans + the one young kid. Zadarov clearly has the size and determination to handle the physical NHL game. In that sense, he is perhaps more ready than most 19 year old defensemen. But, I think we'll have Pysyk and (perhaps) Risto on the big club next year. And, I doubt they want 3 rookie defensemen in the lineup.

Fasching is always around the net. And, they use him to kill penalties too.

Krejci, Bergeron, and Lucic were all second round draft picks. ...and everyone always says "yeah, but that was a deep draft"... the irony is isn't that the argument most here are making about this coming draft? :) and yes, Murray had a big role in drafting those guys, which is reason to be optimistic.

To add to this, the Ducks are one of the top teams this year. They have 2 of the NHLs top 4 scorers: Getzlaf who went 19th overall and Perry who went 28th. The Blues are one of the top teams this year. Their top scorers are Steen (24th overall), Oshie (24th overall), and Backes (2nd round, 62nd overall). There are a lot of ways to field a good team and it need not involve intentionally trying to be bad. It does involve getting above average returns via the draft and trades. That's where we'll see what Murray brings relative to Darcy.

I think he meant to say "the Deutschland Dangler!"

In particular, I think people forget about JT Compher and especially Hudson Fasching who might have been USAs best player at the World Juniors. Joel Armia is still only 20 and may come around as he learns the North American game. With some time in Rochester Grigorenko may well develop into the player that he has the potential to be. William Carrier is another guy who might surprise. ...the point being these guys just need time and shouldn't be written off just yet. Given how often he is a healthy scratch, I don't think there is even a question Ville will be gone next year. I do think there is a chance Ott resigns given he is close with Weber and could be Captain of the team again. I would love to see Moulson back, but I'm sure that is just wishful thinking. I agree that we'd need to overpay to get those guys, but there is plenty of cap room and Pegula likes to spend like a drunken sailor.

Yeah, I think it is easy for fans to overlook what we already have in the system. We're already loaded with prospects at every position and are about to have upwards of 4 more 1st/2nd round picks including the #1 or #2 overall pick in this year's draft. Plus we'll have two 1st round picks next year. At some point you have to start the upward climb and start instilling a winning culture. Personally, I think it is lazy GM work to intentionally try to be bad in order to make your job easier. A good GM gets above average returns on his transactions and doesn't need to rely on "tanking." I think Tim can sign a couple of free agent forwards who can make a world of difference for this team next year. And, if these prospects that we have now develop, the team will get better naturally as all of these young guys gain experience. http://www.hockeysfu...buffalo_sabres/

Apparently back in the 90s, money was actually spent on a movie about farting.... http://youtu.be/TIB0GtbYpc4
