Yep. I've made the argument on this board for a long time that some guys are built for the regular season and some guys are built for the playoffs. The guys who wilt when the game turns into a war are the ones you don't want playing leading roles on your team, even though they might be very effective during the regular season. Big Joe just doesn't carry his team to the promised land. As a second line center on another club he might get there, but not as "the guy." (A version of the above argument was why I was always against Pommer as Sabres captain)

Jagr played with guys like Bryan Trottier and Joe Mullen back in the day. He's been around for a while. ;)

Anyone know if we have a rooting interest in any of these games based on draft pick positions? I don't think so, but am too lazy to look it up.

Actually there is a ton of research on this topic, much of it using response latencies to measure non-conscious attitudes of implicit racism. The findings are pretty strong that there is a level of implicit racism in most/all folks. Basically we non-consciously prefer those who are most like ourselves. Explicit racism is a whole other category. We can consciously over-ride these non-conscious attitudes. With the exception of guys like Sterling, most of us do a pretty good job of this. ;)
