It's on the 2nd costliest package. And, that package gives me no channels that I'd possible watch other than NHL network. So, I don't pay the extra money. I can watch a small screen version on the HD sports mix channel (205).

As a Preds season ticket holder, I don't like the trade. Hornqvist with centers like Crosby and Malkin is likely to outscore Neal. Horny scored 30 a few seasons ago and played hurt most of this past season. Plus, Nick Spaling is a pretty good defensive forward. The Preds are okay offensively, they just need a coach who doesn't play an ultra-defensive system (hence firing Trotz and hiring Laviolette). Could use another center, maybe. I'm pretty sure Seth Jones has the hottest hockey mom.

The Preds are on the phone and may make a trade with the 11th pick. We could take Sam Gagner off the Oilers hands...

Good. They can take Reinhart and then we maybe would have a chance to swap #2 for #3 if the Oilers want Ekblad. We'd then get Draisaitl (or Bennett).

Not really. They have a ton of cap space right now ($20+ million) and they're usually one of the higher spending teams. So it seems like they're about to do some spending...

:) I think I'd trade Myers straight up for #6. Two top-10 picks wouldn't suck.

The biggest problem with trading Myers is we need salary to hit the cap floor and he is our highest paid player. We'd need to add some overpriced guys that other teams want to trade to clear cap room (which shouldn't be too hard for Murray to make happen).

I'm not a huge NBA fan, but I can't figure that league out. Seem the NBA draft every year ends up being about money. Everyone trades their picks or drafts guy who they know won't play in the NBA (Europeans) to avoid a cap hit. And, yeah, they dump every veteran on the roster to load up on picks and tank. Weird league. BTW - I saw yesterday that the Miami Heat can't even field a team next year without freeing up cap space. LeBron, Wade, and Bosch combined take up over $60 million against the cap, which will be around $63 million. Oof.

The kid has already played over 300 NHL games yet we continually talk about Big Tyler's "potential." Statistically his scoring is down year-over-year and his penalties are up. Not exactly the trajectory that makes me think he's about to have a "break out" season. Maybe the guy just needs some steroids? :)

The NFL is quite different than the NHL given the much greater number of players per team in the NFL. The impact of any one NFL player is less than in the NHL, with a few "franchise QB" exceptions like Andrew Luck going at #1 overall.

I'd take Mantha (one of my favorite prospects) for Myers, although we might want another piece in that deal. Then try to swap picks with Edmonton. They take Ekblad and we get our center. I think our top defensive pair will be Zad and Risto in the future, so we don't necessarily have to take Ekblad if he is available - even without Myers. Assuming McCabe and Pysyk pan out, we'd (hopefully) be okay on defense.

As of late, I'm having a hard time figuring out which thread is devoted to which topic. They all sort of merge into the same draft/free agents/current roster discussion. This new thread fits a specific topic, which is great.
