I hear Tim Murray is interested in Marshall Faulk. e5. ;)
-
Oops. Got the wrong Faulk!
-
Both are better than McBain. Justin Faulk wasn't qualified in Carolina. Michael Del Zotto won't be qualified by the Preds.

Godwin's Law! It pretty much always applies... Godwin's law (or Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies) is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1." — that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.

Good. Cut out the dead weight. McBain is terrible and I don't see a future on this team for Conacher. I think they'll try to move Hackett (not sure if there will be any takers). Seems a lot more guys than normal were not qualified by their teams as RFAs. It'll make for an interesting free agency period, that's for sure!

USA World Cup game and NHL free agency on the same day... there goes my Tuesday!

Murray Heaven - Hockey Heaven is dead. Long live Murray Heaven

So.... Tyler Myers is next to go? :D -
Bonuses don't count toward the cap until after the season is over. A team's spending is reassessed at the end of the season with the new bonus information included and penalties are assessed for being over the cap (e.g. Boston this past season). But, prior to the end of the season the cap his is only $925k.

Nashville is in the running. David Poille (USA hockey GM) has already met with Stastny, and Laviolette is Stastny's USA hockey coach. Stastny will go to free agency, he won't resign with the Avs prior to fielding offers from other clubs. I don't think he wants to go to Minnesota, so cross them off the list of possible options.

Why does everyone assume the build has to be with guys currently on the roster or in our system? Trade Myers if you think there are better options available elsewhere, either via trade or free agency (e.g. Orpik). Personally, I think Murray is going to make several moves to make this "his team" rather than build around Darcy's guys. Rumor is the Coyotes are shopping Keith Yandle. If Murray can bring in a guy like Yandle then I'm all for trading Myers.

Gagner to the Coyotes. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 1m TB has traded Sam Gagner to PHX, I mean Arizona. In any case, Gagner is a Coyote. #TSN

I'll take anyone better than Leino, D'Agostini, Conacher, Konopka, and Ellis. That shouldn't be too difficult to find. Richards is better than almost anyone we put on the ice this past season.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 5m Oilers trade Sam Gagner to Tampa Bay for Teddy Purcell.

It really was a shame. I think most fans would have liked to have seen another 30 minutes of game action rather than the ref essentially deciding the winner on a questionable call. Marquez got a little bit of his foot, but Robben is a notorious diver and clearly threw himself up in the air in the hope of getting a call. Shame.

Costa Rica goes through. For a small country that hasn't had much World Cup success, these guys will all be legends in their home country.

Christian Ehrhoff bought out; Signs with PIT, 1yr $4M

Mike Schopp @Schopptalk 4h Last-place, small-market team that cites revenue sharing to defend perennial ticket-price hikes hands its best player $12M to leave. #sabres -
So, I'm noticing that a lot of guys who seem to be showing up in the hockey press/rumors lately all have the same agent, Rick Curran. Christian Ehrhoff, Patrick Sharp, Jason Spezza, all of the Staal brothers, ... And, the guy managed to sign up Aaron Ekblad and next years sure-fire #1 pick Connor McDavid. B-)

http://www.chicagotr...0,4197377.story Most Chicago fans I know (I live near a Blackhawks bar) would say Hossa is more important to the team than Sharp, who has a hefty cap hit at $5.9 million. They can leave the team alone this year and be fine. But, next year they may have to make a choice between the two.

Awesome... Over There @socceroverthere 4m Hopefully this will be the last 90 minutes that anyone will have to watch of Greece at this World Cup. :D

If we're wanting local guys (Orpik as per above) then we should make a run at Lee Stempniak too. And, I miss MattyMo. I hope he wants to return.
-
I think it is just a matter of the league trending toward big, physical centers. Defensively, a little guys like Ennis doesn't match up well against big guys like Thornton, Toews, Kopitar, etc.

Yep. He is a 24-minute a night, all situation defenseman who is in his prime and we just threw him on the scrap heap. Hopefully Murray has a plan to get us a couple of veteran defensemen to hold down the fort while the youngsters develop. -
Been a lot of chatter about it on twitter. They're at the cap right now with no wiggle room whatsoever. And, obviously they will need to free up a lot of room to re-sign Toews and Kane next year. Moving Sharp right now and adding, say, Iginla on a 1 year deal makes a lot of sense for them.

I remember us on this board running off every player from the conference final teams in the mid-2000s. Everyone was expendable. Everyone wasn't going to be missed. Everyone wasn't that good. Yet, we kept getting worse and worse with every move. -
Supposedly, the Wild don't want to hand out yet another long-term big money contract. They only want to sign someone for 1-to-3 years. And, Vanek will want a longer deal. Arizona supposed to be very interested in Vanek, BTW.
