He wasn't that bad here in Nashville. He just wasn't able to crack the Preds top-4, which is already loaded with really good offensive defensemen (Weber, Josi, Jones, Ellis). If the contract was reasonable, he'd be an okay pickup.

A lot of speculation that an "under the table" deal was made prior to the World Cup in order to get Green to declare for the USA instead of Germany. Many think that Jurgen gave him a roster spot in this World Cup in exchange for his allegiance (hence Green took Landon's spot).

Moulson Vanek ...Conacher! I honestly and truly think the Isles have a legit shot to be worst overall this coming season. They're one or two key injuries away from being dreadful.

We don't have a single field player who would start for Belgium. Not one. Our roster of MLS guys and mid-tier European players just can't match up. Unfortunately, I think we did about as well as we could in this tournament.

We certainly made mistakes, but this difference in this one wasn't tactics. Good effort as always. Maybe in 4 years we'll have a bit more talent and can make a deeper run.

Almost every player on the Belgium squad plays for one of the world's top clubs. We have a grand total of zero (maybe Howard if you count Everton). We just don't have the talent.

They will get plenty of time. Our only veteran d-men are Myers, Gorges, Weber, and now Meszaros. That leaves young guys for the other 3 spots: Some combination of Risto, Pysyk, Rudy and McCabe.

We definitely have to sign someone. We only have Myers, Gorges, Weber, Risto, and Pysyk as of now. I assume McCabe starts the year in Rochester. We need someone for a couple of years. Butler I guess would fit that profile.

We are still short a veteran defenseman... who do we have a shot of signing? (or perhaps we acquire one via trade)

Yeah, and he played college hockey at Cornell and his sister played at Niagara. He is more-or-less a local guy. :) I'm a little surprised by all the bitching. We're still ridiculously below the cap and we were the lowest scoring team in hockey by a huge margin last year. $5 mil is pretty affordable by NHL standards and he puts the puck in the net, which is the one thing this team needs most. And, as chz points out, buy him out if he stinks in year 4 or 5 of the contract.

That's right. At this point we already have the top rated prospect pool in hockey and have a bunch more picks in the next couple of drafts. Time to make the team better not just keep obsessing over losing on purpose. We've got the prospect to put a very good team together in the near future, whether we're dead last this year or not.
