Roy is playing great right now. And, he is only 31. Trading him for Ott hurt this team in retrospect. Darcy single-handedly ruined this team by ridding it of centers over a 5 or 6 year period. We pretty much had to trade for CoHo since we had no centers left. In isolation we applauded each move... but in totality it left us devoid of talent down the middle. Now all we can do is wait for draftees to develop as our next wave of centers since good young centers are almost impossible to acquire.

I like Stewart's game for the most part. People complain because his shots get blocked but he is one of the few guys on the team who actually shoots. Hodgson wasn't bad last night, although I'm generally not a fan of his game. The line that was a complete disaster defensively was Nolan's new Moulson-Ennis-Gionta line (combined -9). Putting our two smallest forwards together on a line was a bad idea.

"Core" is a vague term. Seems like the poll is "who do you still want on the team a few years from now?"

We're very weak down the middle (center and defense). We have a few descent scoring winger, but no one to get them the puck. We badly lack creativity on the offensive end. I don't think this team is well coached, but there is so little talent it really doesn't matter who the coach is. ...I'm not sure there is a trade out there that could make this team appreciably better. But, I do think Murray wants the team to be "his guys" so I don't think he is particularly tied to Myers, Stafford, CoHo, Weber, Jhonas or any other holdover I'm missing. If a trade is made (aside from dumping expiring contracts at the deadline) it'll be to bring in players who fit Timmy's vision of the team. That's why I think the Myers trade talk is out there. It's not that Tyler isn't a good NHL defenseman. It's that his game doesn't fit Timmy's vision and trading him could bring a huge return.

If this is why Pat LaFontaine left (Pat wanted to keep some guys, Murray wanted to dump them all) then I think Pat might have been right. You can rebuild, but you can't alienate your entire fan base by fielding an AHL-level team under a second rate coach. BTW - the Amerks won again tonight, I see. Another goal for Grigorenko.

At least we have a nice locker room.

I keep thinking.... why did we get Gionta for leadership when we're not going to dress any rookies? We only have one rookie (Risto) in the lineup.

I usually do. I'm on central time. I'll watch the last two periods of the Preds - Hawks then will see what other game is worth watching.

The Preds - Hawks game is incredible. For those of you with NHL Center Ice, I highly recommend switching over to it after this one.

6 games without a power play goal. We don't have anyone who can quarterback a power play from the point. It is a huge problem. Myers isn't the guy for the job... but no one else on the roster is either. At this point I think we don't have anything to lose by putting Zadorov in the lineup and seeing what he can do.

I just switched over to the Preds - Blackhawks game so I could see what tape-to-tape passing looks like. The Sabres play like they don't have a clue where their teammates are supposed to be.

Of course, Nolan's new Moulson-Ennis-Gionta smallish non-physical line has been a disaster. Each of these guys is a -3 tonight. WTF, Teddy?

Roy is playing great for the (undefeated) Preds. He is getting a ton of ice time and looks very good paired with Philip Forsberg. Roy is for sure better than CoHo. I don't even see an argument there.
