Iron Crotch

Since the Preds are my (other) team, the perception of what they have is a little off. They have the best collection of offensively gifted defensemen of any team in the league with Weber, Josi, Seth Jones, Ekholm, and Ryan Ellis (everyone but Volchenkov). So Lavi simply saw what he had and allowed those guys to carry the puck and generate offense from the back-end. I am in total agreement that a good coach should see what he has and go with it. That's what Lavi did. As well, some of the Preds forwards are very underrated - in particular Craig Smith and Colin Wilson. Ribero has been playing well, as has Derek Roy (and Neal, of course). And, Forsberg, Beck and Jarnkrok are all good looking rookies. While everyone around here seems happy that Myers isn't a complete catastrophe so far this year, I can't help but think he'd probably be the 5th best defenseman on the Preds. My personal take on what is wrong with the Sabres is we don't have a single above-average offensive defenseman. We had one last year (The Hoff) and now we have none. In today's game your defenseman need to score and your forwards need to defend. We don't do well with either.

It still very early in the season, but the Blues are playing poorly thus far. If the Isles drop back down to Earth, there is a possibility we could have 3 top-half first round picks.

Missed the game but it sounds like, based on the GDT, all I missed was more of the same. I find it hard to believe this team still doesn't have a single power play goal.

You'd think Nolan would do something to switch up the ###### lines. Gionta has no business being paired with Ennis and Moulson. And, Samson on the 4th line is just a waste.

We've now gone more than 180 minutes (3 full games) without a goal.

I was screaming at my TV yesterday about the play calling. Down 6 in the 4th quarter with your top two running backs out hurt. Yet, we were running it up the middle down after down or doing those stupid 2 yard out patterns, which are completely useless. Orton bailed Hackett out with some great throws when it mattered.

We're hopelessly bad already this year. Might as well stick Zadorov on the 3rd pair and just go with it. Our veterans (e.g., Meszaros) look like turnstiles out there anyway.

That Houston game was a killer. Orton would have won that one. ...any competent QB would have won that one.
