I think so. We were after big centers at the time (since Darcy gutted the roster of all centers). Forsberg is a 185/190 lb. winger. Caps fans have to be shitting themselves over the Forsberg trade.
-
I posted what tank just did before the season started (i.e. not just hindsight). Watkins is a fine player, but IMHO the price was/is too high given the opportunity cost. Hopefully Obi-wan Pegula will work some magic this off-season and infuse some life into this franchise. If we're somehow able to re-sign Jerry Hughes (UFA) I'd be pretty happy. And, if we're not able to find a better QB then an offensive line upgrade or two would certainly help.

4th and 1 from the opponent's 40 yard line in a meaningless game... ...we punt. :(

With Mike Fisher back from injury and the rookies playing lights out, there just isn't any room for Derek Roy. Victor Stalberg (who won a Cup in Chicago) was sent down to Milwaukee too. The Preds are loaded this year. BTW - Filip Forsberg is the real deal. That kid has future star written all over him.

Happy birthday, Jesus.
-
I'll have to DVR the game and watch it when I get back (am on my way to New Orleans for Christmas). Good to see Armia finally get a shot with the big club.
-
So much for the Blue Jackets being red hot. The Preds are crushing them in Columbus. 5-0 right now. The Preds transition game is impressive.
-
We're much better off without the Messy Balls pairing. B-)

Some nice updates on Sabres prospects. As mentioned above, Brendan Lemieux is absolutely on fire as of late (6 goals in his last two games): http://sabres.nhl.co...s.htm?id=745256

This is pretty true regarding the Bills draft history. Every year they try to "outsmart everyone" with their first round pick. And, picking the consensus guy would have generally left them better off. One of the few times the Bills made the consensus pick we landed Marcell Dareus. And, that has turned out pretty well so far.

I generally agree. I'll go on record as predicting that Grigorenko will be one of our better players 3 years from now. The kid is only 20 and is still learning the pro game. He has the talent. He just needs some tough love coaching (which Nolan should be able to provide) and some more pro experience.
-
It is going to be interesting to see what Terry Pegula does. I have to think he learned from his Sabres experience (left everyone in place only to later make changes). I think this time he might put his own guys in place from the start.
-
Foligno did something to his shoulder in the fight. He'll be out for a while. Hopefully MattyMo will be back next game.
-
Pysyk is smooth. No panic in his game. I like that a lot in a d-man. Maybe he becomes a full-time Sabre when the Tyler Myers blockbuster trade goes down. :)
-
Jesus. Nice change Sabres. Left Enroth out to dry.
-
That was one of those situations where we would have been better off just icing the puck and regrouping rather than trying to finesse the puck out of the zone (unsuccessfully).
-
Almost had a regulation win in Boston... almost...
-
So Matt Moulson visited Children's Hospital on the 18th to cheer us some kids (MattyMo is a great guy). Then he is sick on the 20th (causing him to miss two games). Coincidence?
-
I like how the line of Grigorenko, Hodgson, and Stewart is playing in this one.
-
The bank is open! 2-1 good guys.
-
The kids are fine. It was the old man who got roughed up. Concussion? Foligno might have hurt his hand on Bartkowski's helmet, maybe?
-
The Mess from Stewart and Larsson! Nicely done!
-
Same old dirty freakin' Bruins. I saw them here in Nashville last week against the Preds and they were up to their usual dirty tricks. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/GARTHS-CORNER/Bartkowski-Cranks-Giontas-Head/6/65000

3rd and forever... of course Oakland coverts.
