  1. Oh, wow... Matthew Coller ‏@MatthewWGR Jan 13 Ville Leino had 15 points in 58 games last season. Hodgson needs 9 points in his next 16 games to equal that.
  2. He played a couple of games for Nashville last year and they were quite possibly the worst two NHL goaltending performances I've ever seen. But maybe he'll find his game in Minny. :D
  3. As best as I can tell, we only have one creative offensive player on the whole team and that's Ennis. I think that's a big reason why our power play is so bad. I'm ready for a trade... any trade... otherwise we're stuck waiting for a bunch of 18-19 year olds to become 22-23 year olds. Nothing wrong with that per se, but we're going to run out of stuff to talk about on this forum. B-)
  4. Usually when I have tickets to a Preds game (a 5-1 victory over Vancouver last night) on the same night as a Sabres game I DVR the Sabres game and watch it when I get home. The past couple of weeks I haven't bothered. Every Sabres game is the same these days.
  5. Another of my conspiracy theories: Is Stewart really out with the flu or is he just being held out to keep him healthy for a pending trade?
  6. Gotta miss this game... going to see Ryan Miller play tonight here in Nashville. How bad will tonight's Sabres loss be? By two goals? More?
  7. This is exactly it. Whether he wants to trade him or wants to keep him, he has to say the same thing. His quote about Myers (NHL.com article) was an accurate assessment of the player. Good in the defensive zone because of his reach. Good skater. His size is a big asset. But, nowhere did he praise his offensive game, which is exactly where I am at with Myers. I'm of the opinion that Big Tyler is more of a defensive lock down guy (and great penalty killer because of his reach) than a true "2-way" defender.
  8. To me, the whole thing screams of a marketing ploy to give people a reason... any reason... to be interested in this abomination of a team. When the on-ice product is unwatchable... honor a former player.
  9. That's exactly what Murray needs to say in order to drive up the trade value of Myers. Hard to know whether he is playing high stakes poker or whether he really wants to keep Myers. He'd say the same thing either way.
  10. The Ducks are a surprisingly dirty team considering all the skill they have. I get the feeling the other Western Conference teams don't really like those guys.
  11. Nice blog piece on Jake McCabe: http://www.hockeybuz...tride/209/65519
  12. Murray was personally delivering the news of Rex Ryan's hiring to Ted Nolan? I hope some trades are made soon. The team is so unwatchably bad it's not like trading away UFAs will make any difference.
  13. Pegula wanted an experienced head coach, which makes sense given he is a new owner who just got burned by the outgoing head coach. The obvious difference with the Bills now relative to the past 15+ years of misery is we have a free spending owner instead of a miserly owner. That alone give me hope.
  14. Yep. Vanek had a breakaway today and instead of shooting tried a no look back pass... went right to the Preds defender (see below)! Stuff like that drives a coach mad.
  15. The guys with the monster salaries and long-term contracts are the guys that the team is "building around." Simple as that. Vanek, Pommer, Parise, Suter, and Koivu are the "core" in Minny. The Wild aren't paying Vanek $6.5 million per to score 7 goals and post a -9 in 40 games. He is a big reason they're in 12th place in the West.
  16. It is hilarious that the complaints out of Minny are the team shows no emotion. And, they complain that Vanek is aloof and doesn't play defense. Sounds all too familiar. Our team is awful, but I think we can all agree that building around Vanek and Pommer was never going to get us a Cup.
  17. Matt Cooke went after Shea Weber toward the end of the Preds - Wild game. That was a bad idea. Shea is a powerful man. ;) ...and now Mike Fisher just rained a bunch of blows onto the face of Nate Prosser. Apparently, the Wild suck at fighting.
  18. Roy was the #1 Star in the Oilers 5-2 win against the Hawks. Roy, Yakupov, and Pouliot has been a good line so far for Edmonton. Yak scored for the first time in forever tonight.
  19. He is still a good player and the Oilers badly needed a veteran center. Pretty good fit for both the Oil and Derek thus far.
  20. It's not even watchable. And, it certainly feels like this was all engineered by the top of the organization. They are oddly silent. I have 1/2 season tickets to the Preds who lead the entire NHL so far this year. The contrast between the two teams is stunning. They're playing completely different games. The Preds are playing at twice the speed of the Sabres. The Sabres can't even complete basic passing plays.
  21. My problem with Neuvirth is he is super streaky. He either stops everything in sight (like tonight) or lets in every good chance (last start).
  22. Goal from Derek Roy puts Edmonton up 2-1 over Chicago.
  23. Well our defense is terrible and our forwards are terrible. Other than that, I think this team is okay! ;)
  24. Neuvirth hasn't won since November 18th. And, we've been outshot in all but 4 games this year (won 3 of those 4).
  25. Why does Tampa keep getting 2-on-1's and breakaways? Oh, yeah. We are terrible. Stamkos.
