  1. If Winnipeg wants a 1st round pick + a good prospect + a roster 2nd/3rd line winger to replace Kane this year (as rumored)... It could be something like the St. Louis or NYI 1st + Armia + Stewart/Stafford or Foligno. The Jets will be in a dogfight to make the playoffs with a bunch of teams that have games at hand (Kings, Wild, etc.). They may be a motivated seller. Per NHL radio, the Jets like to target big and fast players who aren't necessarily uber-skilled. Foligno seems to fit that.
  2. Chara was Redden's partner IIRC. So your argument is Chara was just a passenger on the Sens and his great teammates made his stats look good? Because I remember him dominating that year playing in all situations. I would argue that Chara played a significant role in the Sens being really good. I would similarly argue that Myers, as the team's ice time leader, isn't just a passenger on this Sabres team. IMHO, he plays at least some role in the Sabres being bad.
  3. Been talked about on this board ad nauseum, but I don't think the Chara analogy is at all warranted. Chara was a little know player from rural Slovakia with very little high-end training as a youngster. He was raw as hell and was drafted as a long-shot project in the third round. He only played one year of junior hockey, which was AFTER he was drafted. Guy really had to learn how to play the North American game, which he did in the years after being drafted. Myers is quite the opposite. He wasn't an unknown guy from a non-hockey area. He's had the proper training as a junior player in Canada and was a first round pick. Very different. Now Myers has played almost 6 full seasons and almost 400 NHL games, yet people still talk about "when he develops." He has developed. He is a veteran. And, even if you buy the "he is Chara because they are both tall" cover story, Chara played 231 games with the Isles. In games played Myers right now = Chara during his second season in Ottawa, which is when Zedeno was already starting to dominate the league.
  4. I think was an anomaly. The Isles grossly overpaid. Hard for any GM to turn down Moulson + a 1st for a guy who made it clear he wanted out.
  5. It's refreshing to know that we now have a GM who is willing to pull the trigger on a move at any time. Year after year of petrified prevention-focused Darcy got frustrating.
  6. Opinions about Myers are all over the map. Some folks see him as the next superstar. Some see him as a complete liability. And, all sorts of opinions in between. Honestly, I've never seen a player who polarizes our fan base as much as Myers does.
  7. Fowler is a good looking young player. He is better than Myers with the puck on his stick IMHO. And, his defensive game is much improved over the past year or two. Not as good on the PK as Myers. Better on the PP. I'd make the move, but I'm not a huge Myers fans.
  8. Ducks fans are right. Fowler is better than Myers. And, a deal like that when the team (Ducks) is at the top of the standings is risky. My guess: if Myers is moved it'll be to the Kings. They need immediate defense help and have goaltending and forward depth to send our way.
  9. I think it's The Cosmopolitan (wraparound terrace suite most likely).
  10. Mike Harrington ‏@BNHarrington 5h5 hours ago #Sabres Neuvirth in December and January: 0-8, 4.09 GAA, .889 save percentage. Has to be better to have ANY trade value. Oof.
  11. ...but our backs who are half as talented are really nice guys. ;)
  12. For the most part, our d-men really struggle with moving the puck (either passing it or lugging it). Zadorov may be the best of the lot in that regard and he is just a kid. And, our forwards rarely get any speed going through the neutral zone. They're easily stood up at the blue line by opposing defenders.
  13. Our passing was pretty terrible for most of this game... ...and most of this season for that matter. What opporunities? We had 10 shots the entire game!
  14. Myers just doesn't have the accuracy on his point shot. ...and now slashing call #2 on the big guy.
  15. Neuvirth has always been too streaky for my liking. When he is "on" he stops everything. But, too often he isn't "on" and in those games he tends to have no rebound control.
  16. Especially given we're getting grossly outshot and badly outplayed for long stretches in the wins.
