  1. This is going to be a weird experience for me. Go Preds! Per WGR: Murray always had an interest in Kane and Bogosian. Reinhart, Zadorov, Risto, and Foligno were off limits per GMTM. Interesting.
  2. ...if you allow yourself to be open to the possibility that Myers really isn't that good (which I know if a leap of faith for many)... then the trade makes a whole lot of sense... When can I buy a Kane jersey? Later this week?
  3. We gave up an NHL defenseman (who I think is overrated) and a rental plus three unproven prospects for two established NHL players (both former top-5 picks). We know Kane and Bogosian can play in the league. The other pieces (Armia, Lemieux, late 1st) are just gambles of futures. I don't think it is that much of an overpayment, personally.
  4. I get to see Myers paired with Big Buff tomorrow night here in Nashville!
  5. Our new GM sets the market. ...Darcy just wanders around mumbling about how hard trades are to make.
  6. I feel somewhat vindicated in my criticism of Myers. B-) Bogosian is like Kane in some regard. Kid just needs a change of scenery and a different system. Maurice runs a tight, tight ship. He is a guy who could blossom elsewhere. I think he has more offensive talent than Myers. And, he is much more of a hitter than Tyler.
  7. My high-level thought: We're one of the worst teams in the history of hockey. Yet, people are still wanting to cling to our current guys? Shake this ###### up!
  8. Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 23s23 seconds ago 1st round pick Jets acquire will be lowest of 3 of the Sabres picks. Very complicated trade. Sounds like an unsigned player from Peg as well
  9. It is so nice not having Darcy as GM. Yep. And, of course, Samson + McEichel. We have forward prospects all over the place.
  10. Bogosian and Kane were both top-5 overall picks. I think I see a trend. We have a billion forward prospects and can only have 50 (?) pro contracts. It makes sense to give up some. We still have quite a few good forward prospects coming through the system.
  11. Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 2m2 minutes ago Again principles of Jets-Sabres deal: Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian. Could be other elements.
  12. GMTM apparently shares my opinion of Myers. :nana: Kane has never played with a top center. This year he was on the third line this year and the last couple of years he had Olli Jokinen. Put him with McEichel and he'll score 30+. Kid has hands. ...Hopefully he'll leave all of his track suits in Winnipeg.
  13. Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 49s49 seconds ago Huge deal. Hearing Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian as principles of deal getting close btwn Buf + Wpg. Wow.
  14. Bogosian is more of what we already have. A big hammer on the back-end. We need more offense back there IMHO (unless Murray thinks McCabe and/or Pysyk will provide that). BTW - I'll be watching the Jets play here in Nashville tomorrow night. Would be cool to see a current Sabres in a Jets uniform tomorrow!
  15. SabresBuzz ‏@SabresBuzz 18m18 minutes ago I would love to see Murray get Trouba and Kane for Myers,Stewart and STL 1st rounder. Trouba-McCabe Team USA reunion ...Trouba and Kane sounds more realistic than Bogosian and Kane.
  16. Damn. I was hoping to get some work done this morning. Now, no way. :D
  17. Evander Kane isn't a defensive liability. He is (or more correctly "was") used as a penalty killer by the Jets.
  18. Going to the Preds - Lightening game tonight, but maybe I'll DVR this one and watch it later. I'm sure the FNC will sounds like a library as usual.
  19. E. Kane article: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/why-fiercely-independent-kane-must-change-ways/
  20. This is more-or-less what I see. My opinion on what a modern defense corp should ideally look like is strongly influenced by watching the Preds group. Top-to-bottom they all have offensive ability (except for Volchenkov, but he doesn't get much ice time).
  21. I think he has an inaccurate shot and a questionable ability to move the puck to the right guy in a timely manner (reliability is an issue). The 5-on-3 yesterday was a good example of that. On that note, our power play desperately needs a point guy who knows what he is doing.
  22. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=41958 I've always thought (and posted here) that I think Myers is a good own-zone defender due to his reach and skating ability. And, he is a very good penalty killer. What I take offense with is the assertion that he is a "two-way" or "puck moving" defender. He just isn't that great with the puck on his stick, especially relative to the other 24+ minute per game d-men around the league. And, he is brutal on the power play... Risto and Zadorov have more power play points than Myers in far fewer PP minutes. I think the days of the "stay at home" d-men are fleeting. In today's game the better teams are full of two-way defensemen who are offensively skilled. That's where I think Buffalo needs to be. That's why I'd trade Myers for a guy like Cam Fowler. We'd give up a little defense in favor of more offense and I think it'd be a net gain.
