Some guys take a few tries with the big club before they show what they can do at the NHL level. IIRC, Filip Forsberg looked pretty average in his first couple of call-ups with the Preds. Assuming we trade Mitchell and Stewart, that should open a spot for Johan for the rest of the season. It'll be a good audition for him. The first rule of GDT is you do not talk about Tank Club. The second rule of GDT is... B-) (I think at this point of the season people can pretty much talk about whatever they want)

Good trade for the Preds, I think. Ryan Ellis has been out for a while (officially a lower body injury, but he has a broken leg) and Matty Ekholm just came back from injury yesterday. Preds have been playing an AHL guy on the third defensive pair and getting away with it. Jokinen is just done. He's had a good career, but it is time. He was included as a salary dump. Leipsic is a smallish agitator type. Good prospect, but nothing to write home about. Franson and Santorelli were both drafted and developed by the Preds.

Lanny already reported for me. Coldest day of the winter in Nashville, I think. But, sunny outside.

He may very well have the flu... but every team in the league uses "the flu" as a blanket excuse for a guy missing a game or two for other reasons (minor injury, stuff going on behind the scenes, etc.).

Maybe we should get fat boy Phil Kessel from the Leaves and form a Kane - Eichel - Kessel line. Moulson - Girgs - Ennis would be line #2. (I'm not a Kessel fan, just throwing a random thought out there for the hell of it)

Good point. Lemieux is a kid who fell to the second round of the draft. Maybe there is a reason he lasted that long. And, maybe there is a reason Murray wouldn't give into his contract demands. (I didn't realize Bailey was having such a good year)

Vancouver and Washington (and others?) were after Kane. We paid a steep price, but I think Murray was more concerned with getting the guys he wanted (Bogo and Kane) before others did. If Armia and Lemieux turn out to be good NHLers, so be it.
