  1. Yes, Beauchemin to the Avs. One left-sided d-man gone. Oduya our target?
  2. Free agent frenzy!!!! Expect the unexpected!!!
  3. I like where you mind is at on this one. :D No league can force a team to stay in a market where they've lost at least $5 million per year every year in their existence. It is time...
  4. The Ducks have already grabbed his replacement in Kevin Bieksa. Beauchemin is leaving the Ducks for sure. BTW - Beauchemin led the Ducks (best record in the West) in ice time last year.
  5. Garth (blogger) thinks Beauchemin might be a viable target: http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/GARTHS-CORNER/Beauchemin-A-Strong-UFA-Option-For-Sabres/6/69677 I think he'd be a nice fit since he has a little more offense to his game than some of the other names being thrown around.
  6. I think Hodgson will have a great season.... in the Swiss league. ;)
  7. I like Leggy. He certainly isn't the player he used to be, but as a veteran 4th line center on a young team (and only 1 year left on his contract) I like the fit. He is an all-around player who does everything well, but nothing spectacularly. He played in all situations here in Nashville - power play and penalty kill. He is surprisingly good on the power player. Is good at face-offs, hits and takes hits, has size and adequate speed. He brings a lot of experience and character to the room - not unlike Gionta. I figure at worst can help teach Samson and Eichel how to play the pivot in the NHL.
  8. Exactly. Numbers (stats) aside, Murray is zeroing in on guys who give 100% on every shift. O'Reilly, Bogo, Leggy, Kane, etc. all fit that M.O.
  9. If this team wants to go to the promised land, it won't be with half-effort guys like Hodgson in the lineup. Murray clearly favors "effort guys" over talented slackers. Good riddance, CoHo.
  10. Not a fan of Cody Franson. He was terrible down the stretch for the Preds. So much so that he was a healthy scratch at times.
  11. It seems like an overpayment for Lehner, but time will tell. I think we're seeing that Murray zeroes in on "his guys" and doesn't particularly care what he spends to get them. That we have so many picks and prospects makes it relatively easy to "overspend" for a particular player. The more I think about Legwand, the more it makes sense. We can easily take on his $3 mil. salary for the coming season and Leggy only has one year left on his current deal. Leggy give some flexibility with regard to Samson. If Samson isn't physically ready to slot into the #3 center role this season, Leggy can take that role and Samson can play in Rochester until he is ready. Either way, veteran depth down the middle isn't a terrible thing to have while our two rookie centers learn the pro game.
  12. This will be a completely different team from last year. New coaching staff and half the lineup will be different. Far more scoring potential on the squad with Kane, Eichel, O'Reilly and company. I see nothing wrong with being optimistic. We can make a playoff run this coming season if the goaltending holds up (big "if").
  13. We have a pile of centers now. Someone probably has to be moved to RW. No way we start with two rookies down the middle now. I think if Samson makes the big club he plays on the wing this year, although I think he may end up in Rochester when all is said and done. No need to rush teenagers into the lineup (with Eichel being an obvious exception).
  14. We have a whole team of centers now, so I have to think the plan is for one of them to slide over to Right Wing (maybe Gus?).
  15. The curse of the jersey. I bought a Zadorov jersey last year. Bought a Myers jersey before that one.
  16. I like Legwand's game a lot - watched him play for years down here in Nashville. He is a tough all-around center who can play in all situations. Hits and wins faceoffs. And, we need salary to hit the cap floor. I think he is basically Gionta. A "pro's pro" brought in to be a veteran presence.... or as others have hinted at, he was brought in because this is the FIRST move of the day and it'll all make sense later. Despite being the only guy on this board who likes Legwand, I still wouldn't give up #21 for him and Lehner. ...#31 yes.
  17. I think the Sabres should take a European goalie 3th round or later.
  18. The Hockey Chat ‏@TheHockeyChat 2h2 hours ago CONFIRMED: Sabres and Leafs both had discussions with the Avalanche this morning regarding O'Reily #NHL I think the Avs know he either gets traded now or at the deadline. 19. My problems seem insignificant compared to some of the stuff above.
  20. Awards biased toward the Eastern Conference.
  21. Josh Cooper posted a whole bunch of pictures taken from inside the new (half built) arena in Las Vegas: https://twitter.com/JoshuaCooper
  22. Stalberg is big and really fast and has pretty good hands. He can be inconsistent on the defensive end and is hurt a lot though. He can be a steal for some team if he dedicates himself to playing defense. His size/speed combination is rare.
  23. The US beat China 2-0 on 04/06/2014, outshooting China 23-1. Heather O'Reilly was Player of the Match (with the US playing a 4-3-3). Yet, O'Reilly hasn't played this entire tournament and it doesn't sound like she'll start against China on Friday.
