  1. I believe games like this are referred to as a "good ol' fashioned ass kicking!"
  2. Dolphin fans all look like Fred Durst.
  3. Williams is a man child. I love having a 230 lb. back.
  4. Pick! Weren't the announcers just telling us how great Landry is? :P
  5. 152 yards of offense in the first 10 minutes. And, Tyrod has a 158.3 QB rating thus far.
  6. Tyrod to Sammy! Clay is one motivated dude for this game. Making his old team pay.
  7. 17-0 Eagles over the Jets right now (5 minutes left in the first half). Brandon Marshall just made one of the dumbest plays I've ever seen. You'll see it on SportsCenter, I'm sure.
  8. I like Johnson. ...and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. ;)
  9. The game is being replayed on NHL Network today at 1pm EST (noon my time). Also, X is right re: Guhle. Kid has a lot of potential, but is nowhere near ready for the NHL.
  10. Riffage and doom courtesy of Matt Pike....
  11. I think he was talking about Chi Chi Rodriguez. -3 is a pretty good round at his age.
  12. I think the whole game was disorganized due to each team dressing about half non-NHL guys (or guys who won't be around on opening night). To add to that, we have a new coach, a new system, and many of our veterans are new as well. I saw 4 lines that didn't know where their teammates would be. We still managed 40 shorts and probably outchanced Ottawa. When did we ever hit 40 shots last year? ...not often. :)
  13. Watching the reply on NHL Network and Guhle was out there and was a little lost for the first two Sens goals. 18 year old kid, so no big deal. I think Rudy and Donovan were out there for #3. Jason Akeson destroyed Colin Greening with a big hit in the third. Don't know much about Akeson, but that was good to see. It was Zack Stortini. That's pretty much what he does. 725 penalty minutes in 257 career NHL games (he is an AHLer now).
  14. From reading the last couple of pages in this thread I get the feeling that people don't know what kind of game Legwand brings. Guy has more NHL games played, assists, and points than anyone on our young roster. He plays in all situations, has size, hits, has speed, and plays a responsible defensive game. He isn't some journeyman throwaway. Maybe he has lost a step (we'll see soon enough), but wait until you see him play before you decide you want him off this year's team. Personally, I don't see us starting the year with two rookie centers on the top 3 lines. We're the Oilers if we do that. I think either Samson starts on wing or he starts in Rochester. O'Reilly, Eichel, Larsson, and Leggy can be the 4 centers to start.
  15. Preseason Media Schedule: http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=779898&cmpid=sm-fb-news
  16. I watched Franson play down here in Nashville (both stints) and he isn't good in his own zone. He struggles with speedy opposing forwards. We need him for the power play though. Colo is - or at least was - a nice player, but he can't stay healthy so I figure it is only a matter of time before he is out. I liked Zadorov's potential. I think he'll be a good NHLer after he matures a little bit. As a top pair, I think of Gorges and Bogosian as merely "okay." IMHO, they're nowhere close to the "minute eating" top pairs we see on the better teams. Personal opinion, but I like Bogosian better than Gorges. I see Gorges as a slightly better Weber. Tough and physical, but won't help the transition game much (assuming Bylsma wants to play a more offensive system). If Risto and Pysyk play well, that will really help this year's group. But, they're young so I don't see that as a given. That said, I think most of us will be happy just seeing the team score a few more goals this season!
  17. Me too. We're light years better up front, but might be worse defensively. I hope Colaicovo can stay healthy. I like his game, but he is always hurt.
  18. An issue I have in any sports conversation... Whenever anyone says the refs or Tyrod or Rex or <insert factor> weren't very good, someone comes back and say that wasn't "the" reason the team lost. As if there has to be one a single factor that explains a loss rather than a myriad of factors all adding up to the outcome. I think it is reasonable to think of the game outcome as a binary DV (win/loss) then think of factors that significantly impacted that game outcome. Tyrod taking sacks was a factor. The o-line was a factor. Defensive lapses in coverage was a factor. Poor offensive game plan early was a factor. Lack of adjustments until it was too late was a factor. Brady being really, really good was a factor. Etc. That said, 14 penalties for 140 yards most definitely factored into the game outcome. I doubt anyone thinks it is "the" reason the team lost. But, I don't think anyone in this thread is wrong for pointing out that it made a difference. We're the most penalized team in the league through two weeks (both number of flags and yards).
  19. Jaguars driving on the Dolphins late in the game. 20-20 right now. Jags in field goal range. Edit: Jags win.
  20. For some reason, I love watching Chip Kelly's personnel moves backfire.
  21. My take on the picks at the end of each half is we have a QB who was trying to make a play downfield by throwing a 50/50 ball knowing that time wasn't on his side. The throws were off. So be it. Better than dinking and dunking 5 and 10 yards passes then running out of time. I like that Tyrod went for the longer passes. If the argument is that EJ or Cassell would have won that game, I just don't see it. The Pats were the better team and our defense got shredded yet again by Brady.
  22. Nice comeback, but too little too late. Pats had over 500 yards of offense in this one.
