  1. It was built only for basketball. To fit a rink in, it has to be skewed (off-center). That's why the camera is at the blue line instead of center ice. Also, the scoreboard hangs over one of the blue lines. And, there are about 1500 obstructed view seats off to camera left. It's just a bad, bad place for hockey.
  2. See, it worked. I jinxed him. He is out sick.
  3. Cody played well against the Kings last game (that was an unbelievable game BTW). He is getting chances, but isn't finishing...sound familiar? But, really it doesn't matter much since he was signed at only $1.05 million for one year. He's a cheap experiment basically.
  4. To me Ullmark looked like a guy who wasn't used to the speed of the game at this level in his first start. His movement and anticipation were just a little slower than they need to be. Hopefully a week of practice has helped him. I think he has the most talent of any goalie in our pipeline. Just needs experience.
  5. Nothing really matters with this team until we can find goaltending. You just can't overcome soft goals against night in and night out.
  6. Was listening to NHL radio this morning (SiriusXM) and they had Shane Hnidy on the program. Shane does color commentary for Winnipeg these days. They were talking about how Myers isn't playing well (only 2 points and a team worst -5) and Shane said something to the effect of "yeah, but he skates well" and "he is still young and once he learns the game..." It was funny because it was exactly what people here said for 5+ seasons. Sometimes a player is what he is. I was never a fan of Myers and am happy as hell Murray traded him. :P
  7. The greatest myth that was ever pushed onto the American public. We haven't seen this sort of wealth and income inequality in this country since the 1920s. Demand for products and services is what created jobs and that is directly related to middle class spending power. The company's customers buy the company's products, which in turn, channels money to the company and allows it to hire employees to produce, sell, and service those products. If the company's customers and potential customers go broke, the demand for the company's products will collapse. And the company's jobs will disappear, regardless of what the entrepreneurs or investors do. So unless all of these new businesses cater to the top 1%.... no sustained job creation.
  8. For the life of me I can't figure out how Ted Cruz has any supporters.
  9. I agree. Everyone being best friends was never a necessary condition for winning. I still think half of what we talk about re: "the off ice stuff" is just sports writers looking for stories.
  10. Accuracy is a big difference. Plus EJ has as many turnovers in 2 games started as Tyrod in 5. That matters as much as anything.
  11. You negated your own point. Do you remember Tyrod running for 24 yards on a critical 3rd and 23 when the game was on the line? Or his ankle-breaking touchdown run to put the Bills within one score? How about his clutch 58 yard pass to Hogan after straining his MCL two plays prior play due to a horse collar tackle. Or his touchdown pass with 5 minutes left to put the Bills up? Or the fact that he had zero interceptions and zero fumbles (unlike EJ). Tyrod struggled in the first half (as did the whole Bills offense) but he made clutch plays when it matters. ..and got the "W."
  12. Johnson couldn't save a beachball his last start and he let in the only good chance he saw in the first period of this game. I think Johnson has looked shaky with puck control in many of his starts (he spits rebounds all over the place). But, he did make some really nice stops in this game for sure. Personally, I need to see him do it consistently.
  13. Still 3-0 Vancouver at the end of the 2nd period. Now 5-1 Canucks in the 3rd. This one is done.
  14. This game was a prime example of skill being nullified because crosschecking, holding, and especially interference don't get called in this league. I can't for the life of me figure out why the league wants to nullify speed and skill. Frustrates me as a fan.
  15. I always liked Carlo from watching him play in St. Louis. He just can't stay healthy. But, he is for sure better than Weber.
  16. The 'gus - Moulson - Gionta line was good tonight. I like that as the third line. And, Deslauriers fit in just fine with Ennis and O'Reilly on the top line.
  17. BTW - since I'm on low on Gorges lately, he was just waving at the puck on the Flyers' goal that tied it in regulation. ...and if Weber never plays for us again, I'd be okay with that. ;)
  18. Johnson gives up some terrible goals (like the Flyers' first goal), but he did make the big save when it mattered in this one. Nice to get a well deserved win. We outplayed the Flyers in this one. If the refs in this league actually called penalties, both teams would have been on the power play for majority of the 60 regulation minutes.
  19. Perhaps not the right thread for this, but I really don't like Josh Gorge's game this year. I wonder if his style of play perhaps isn't the best fit for Bylsma's system (?).
