  1. There is one guy I see at my local watering hole that grew up here but his family is from Boston. I respect that, that's cool. Plus, he's a fellow hockey fan in Virginia Beach and I've never had to explain to him what icing is. That's cool, too. What isn't cool is all he talks about are Boston teams. Boston this and Boston that - he talks to me like I give currap about how many minutes Chara had or why Lucic is the best forward in the league. As if I don't have enough reasons to hate the Bruins already, and then this guy keeps chirping away. On more than one occasion I've said to him, "You know the part where I'm not a Bruins fan, right?" and he smiles and keeps going, blissfully unaware of his own douchebaggery. Sometimes I get concerned that my hatred for the Bruins is a little over the top. The I come here and find that I am in good company.
  2. That's too bad - he's a talented player and fun to watch. Hopefully he'll be back in the playoffs
  3. I'm not arguing your point, only adding to it: The fact that there was no war time tax increase for the first time in the country's history may had had something to do with us being broke.
  4. Here's how: http://msn.foxsports.com/midwest/story/with-a-new-goalie-mask-blues-miller-is-really-ready-to-rock-now-032014
  5. I'll readily admit I don't read too many of the front office-type posts so maybe I've missed something, but why do you say he meddles? What has he done to sour you - and evidently just about everybody else - so much?
  6. And that's what I mean - he's lucky to get it because he sure hasn't earned it.
  7. Yep, the clock is "Miller Time." We can see the images of him, his wife, and dog are based on those Russian stacking dolls, and above the 11 on the clock is the state of Michigan. Those are all pretty obvious. But do any of you guys know the significance of the lizard above the 1 on the clock?
  8. It truly is amazing when you consider how he went from playoff scoring machine to mild disappointment to larger disappointment to lucky to still be collecting a paycheck.
  9. "Matt Man" did not appear on the back of his 2014 helmet.
  10. I don't think it mattered who was in the White House. As 11 points out above, Putin invaded Georgia right after the US (under Bush) and Georgia military held training exercises. Besides, toppling a sovereign nation's government and to protect one's own interests is not really something the US can take the moral high ground on, is it?
  11. And 2014, too. I believe they don't want any wording that is not the player's country.
  12. I read about that earlier. I know the docs must feel pretty comfortable that he's good to go - and it is nice to see - but man, if he's a member of my family, I am crapping bricks about him getting back out there...
  13. Unless you know the both of them and can assess their temperment, I'm sot so sure you're qualified to say that. Have you never seen, on ice or off, any instances where two guys who were pretty PO'd at each other but after scrapping for a bit reached a place where their anger was exhausted and replaced with mutual respect? Really?
  14. Nothing against Swiss reporters, but I'm not sure one of them speculating that it could be possible is very much to go on.
  15. I thinnk you identified the thing that changed. And I agree, he's been an entirely different player. It's nice to see.
  16. Peverly has an irregular heartbeat. He missed the entire preseason dealing with it and missed a game last week due to it. It's a serious condition, obviously, but it's something that both he and the Stars are aware of.
  17. What you're missing is that teams do not technically trade players. They trade the NHL rights and contracts of the players. If a player fails to report, show up. whatever, that has nothing to do with the team who traded his rights. The league could step in and offer some sort of compensation - most likely in the form of a late round draft pick - but all the Caps did was trade his rights, along with Neuvirth's, for Havak's and a draft pick. The deal is done and over...
  18. No. It is possible the NHL could step in and offer some sort of compensation, but the Caps are off the hook.
  19. Or, they demonstrated the flexibility and agility requried to address the challenges presented by an organizational restructuring to better position themselves for sustainable success. It's all a matter of perpective...
  20. The D-man definitely misplayed it by stepping up but it was a nice move. I have a feeling if he tries that in the NHL he's going to get smoked more often than not.
  21. I think I remember a Caps playoff series in which he played pretty well... maybe he plays for Washington?
  22. I'm excited for the Draft. Not just to see who the Sabres select, but to see if they go shopping - which I think they will - and who they acquire.
