Tate is bothering ME right now

It’s gotta be player scouting / personnel scouting. We continue to bring in the same low energy, passive prospects. It’s not about physical talent, it’s the attitude and personality we’re consistently getting wrong. Benson is the only exception.

I think that’s where the anger comes from at least for me, but probably most of us. Cheering for a loser of a team but one that is giving it their all is way different than cheering for a loser of a team where it looks like they’re OK with a loss. I just think it’s hard for most of us to honestly comprehend how a professional athlete can have that demeanor, especially at that young of an age which most of our guys are. Anytime I ever played competitive sports I played with my hair on fire. I generally wasn’t the most athletic person on the field— I was up there, but there’s usually at least one or two special people who exist that you know we’re going on to do big things— but I never went down without swinging. I suspect that most of the people on this forum are the same way, and there’s this odd energy that had overtaken the team for most of this drought where it looks like they’re barely working up a sweat. It’s genuinely hard to compute that as we sit here and watch them, wishing we could be 22 years old with the $50 million contract getting out on the ice every night as a pro hockey player. What I’m wondering now is if one of the big variables that has destroyed this franchise is a lack of ability to vet a prospects personality versus their physical traits alone. I think whoever’s been in charge of that and the different people who have been have forgotten how important it is to understand the psychology and personality of a prospect. the only one that seems like they have it right of all the guys we’ve had in the last decade plus is Benson. He’s the only one that shows up every night with the energy and the attitude that we would expect out of a guy that age getting his pro shot.

I don’t think we get there without at least two big moves. One for a serious physical presence and another for a proven scorer. Tage only flashes. That’s not what a top line center does.

I can’t take this sh*t anymore. Shoot the effin puck, but pick a corner or something. They either try to snipe too perfectly or ‘just get it on the net’ and it’s in the goalie’s chest.

I’ve been kind of pissed at Tuch for a while about constantly missing the net, but at least he’s trying to pick a corner. Everyone else on this team shoots at directly into the goalies chest or it just looks like a Pee-wee kid with no experience slapping at the puck. Where are the snipes from JJ?

It doesn’t help that Quinn and Cozens shoot everything into the goalie’s chest 99% of the time.

He has to make some moves. He’s definitely gone if no playoffs.

That’s the right approach imo. Much more fun.

PGA Tour players have so much more mental toughness than this team. As a former professional golfer, I can tell you it’s a physical grind. I always laugh when people say things like “this is a man’s game” as if the guys on tour aren’t men. If you can’t come close to shooting par, you shouldn’t be talking like this. You have no idea the level of fitness needed to compete on tour these days.

We need a physical agitator and a proven scorer. If I’m KA I’m getting that on this team asap.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Power is an incredibly nice, probably passive guy off the ice. A gentle giant if you will.

You’re absolutely right about the hitting. It’s a concern. If we won’t do it now, imagine them in a playoff series? Yikes. We do need to make some moves imo. Greenway is our only physical presence. I want more hitting too, and we need a proven scorer. Quinn, Cozens, Benson, and probably Tuch too are just not providing enough. I hope Kevin makes a couple serious moves because I’m liking a lot of what we’re doing. Onto the next. New streak starting Friday. I'll certainly get one if Kevin brings one in. We need it bad.

Yeah at first I thought it was there too, but another angle showed it would’ve been a terrible decision to pass. Surprised at the inability of Tage to snag a corner there though. Hit Gus in the chest lol.

Respectfully of course, I just really disagree here. I don’t know how you can watch this game and not be pleased with what they did tonight. I disagree with the no jump, although could’ve used more physicality. I think that’s a recurring issue. Physicality sparks energy. I also don’t agree with the disorganization aspect. How so? We didn’t even have one penalty tonight I believe. Two offside were sloppy, but we got great chances and kept it simple and got it to the net. More physicality in front of the net will help imo. I’ve watched every game this year like most of you. This was absolutely one of their better efforts imo. They actually looked like a competent, consistent professional hockey team against a great opponent that works to limit chances and has a great goalie. This is not the same as the other losses this year.
