Cozens looks like he has decided to give up on the physical stuff, give up on helping teammates. Sure, he does it every few games, but most of the time it looks like he does not care. He has no problem flying into the offensive zone to try to get some shots off, but other than that he looks heartless more often than njot. -

On the replay, Cozens literally stands by the side of the net and does nothing for seconds while Dahlin is throwing punches and getting punched. He was 3 feet away and did nothing. Cozens is so awful. He needs to go now. -

I think Rosen will not be as good of a scorer as Peterka, but he may eventually have a better all-around game. Too bad you cannnot do this like you could in the NHL video game from about a decade ago. Put Quinn, Peterka, and Cozens up for trade and just get the results of the best offers out there for you to select and execute. -

After seeing that play it only further reinforced my opinion that if he is still on this team by the deadline tomorrow, it will be one of the more deflating moments of the year as a fan for myself. -

McLeod looks like he does not have much of a weakness in his game as a middle 6 center. I would say he is one of the better 3rd line centers in the league watching him play. He is so much more enjoyable to watch than some other players on this forward group. -

Maybe he knew the trailer behind him was Cozens so that ruled it out 100%. -

A bit let down to see Cozens in the lineup. I was hoping a trade was in the works for him, so he would be pulled out of the lineup until it was completed. -
Juggernaut to me means elite team. Like best team in a decade in the league. As in the marvel character, a juggernaut is something that is almost unstoppable that crushes anything or anyone that gets in its way. The Amerks are good. Juggernaut good? Not yet.

It is something dumb with Cozens every game. Every single game. -
I want him gone the sooner the better. There is not much left for me to hope for this season. As you said, the season is toast. But for the remainder of the season, I want to watch a team without him. He just makes so many mistakes and it gets me frustrated watching him fumble around with the puck and make awful passes and plays, only to see him continue to be put out there over and over. I am going to watch most of the rest of the season. I do not need, nor do I want to see him continue to play Center for the Sabres.
-
I did want Pettersson earlier in the year, but the more I read about them the less and less I want that deal to be made. I do not think he is a head case, I just think it is likely he has some ailment and its more a case of 'damaged goods' than anyone else. Someone else referenced that during the 4 nations, he was putting ice on his knee or leg. That, with the huge drop in his production, is a large yellow flag.
-
Agreed. Even if you think Adams may be fired so you do not want him making decisions as for who future players will be for this team, he can still 'cash in' current roster players that do not fit here for 'chips' that he, or anyone else can use in the future to rebuild the team. If you get an offer for a player that is obvious is not a long term answer here, you take it. Truth be told, futures that can be used in deals in the offseason might be better to receive than a player back right now in a 'hockey trade'.

No, for sure no.

2 bad passes, a penalty, a giveaway leading to the short handed goal, a pass to his stick that he did not handle, all in the first 10-15 minutes of period one. Dylan Cozens is a bad hockey player. And yet they keep putting on the ice over and over. -

I would match your statement and raise you a Leafs crowd in Toronto. It is not a Maple Leafs game unless about 500 fans complain about how the Refs are out to screw them and nobody likes them because they are jealous of Toronto. -
Really? Who? IF we throw out the analytic departments totally and only go by scouts and what we can see with our eyes, why would anyone love him. He makes costly mistake after costly mistake, many of them have been brought up on this board at the time of. Some have been documented by posters with screenshots and videos. I would venture to say that if you only looked at what you see, there might be just as few teams interested in him. How do we know any team in the league absolutely love him as a player? I highly doubt that. If we are to go by past reporting, there may have been a deal for Cozens to Detroit worked out in December. If that is true, we know the Sabres were interested in moving him. So if they are interested in moving him, where are all the other offers? I think there may not be great offers simply because he is not highly thought of around the league. After typing most of this post I put my attention back to the game. He gets a penalty putting the team shorthanded. Just over 5 minutes into the game he takes an offensive zone draw and loses it clearly, almost loses his balance and spins around in the neutral zone, the puck comes to him and he has a open guy across the ice to pass it to without being rushed and he puts the pass 1-2 feet behind his stick. If scouts are looking at his play, they just saw 3-4 below average plays in a matter of seconds. We can see his bad play on television, but when you get a chance to go to the games and follow him for entire shifts those things happen often. If it was not for his above average skating speed and a good looking release, when you watch him you often wonder how he is even an NHL player at times.
-
Should the Sabres move him and get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him I would be overjoyed. To get his contract off of the books and get rid of a player that has hurt you for the past 2+ seasons and get anything back would be a victory.
-
I think it is both Adams and Pegula. Adams might hold onto a bad player because he would be terrified that he might do even a little bit better with another team and that will make him look even worse. So I agree with the use of the word courage there. As far as Terry Pegula, I am starting to come around to the fact that he has his favorites on this team in terms of players, and Cozens is one of them. Adams may not have the courage to move a player like Cozens, but I do think that is compounded by Terry Pegula not wanting to trade someone that he is very much a fan of personally.

If Dylan Cozens takes the ice as a member of the Buffalo Sabres the first game after this season's trade deadline, it would seem to prove 1 of 2 or 3 things, if not all: 1.) Lindy Ruff, or any other previous coaching staff this team has had, can not evaluate an effective hockey player from an ineffective one. His play that is visible to all and his simple numbers show he has been a bad hockey player. 2.) The Analytics department and the rest of the front office does not even show up to work, they simply take a paycheck and do nothing. As many people have posted to this forum, if you take a deep dive on many of his underlying analytics, he might be one of the worst 5 full time forwards in the entire NHL and that stretches back even to his 31 goal season. 3.) Dylan Cozens is "Terry Pegula's boy" and he will not allow him to be moved.
-
Is it possible Dylan Cozens is on the verge of turning his entire game around and becoming a complete player that helps the team? I guess that is possible, and if that did happen it would be a great help for this team. I do not think that is likely. If we pass the trade deadline this week and he is still on the team however, I will be so let down as a Sabres fan. My thoughts will turn to him being here at least another year, maybe indefinitely. The thought of him being a minus player for another year, of him making dumb mistakes that single-handedly cost goals and cause losses. Thoughts of another wasted season with him being a 25 year old that is potential blocking a a better player from being in his position that at least won't hurt his team. Of how pretty much every single player in this team plays worse when sharing the ice with him. All those thoughts, I do not think I could take facing at least another year of that in the face without having to walk away from this team for a bit. Other fans are close to that same point with Adams. Some are with Pegula. I can understand that, and maybe the dysfunction with this team is signified by a representation of all 3 of those men. Myself, I am, without a doubt, at that point with Dylan Cozens and how I view how serious this entire organization is.

1.) The talent level of the Rochester's young guys is high compared to a lot of the AHL, and they have a better mix of young guys and veterans than the Sabres do. 2.) If a young guy down there isn't playing well like we heard about Kisakov, he sits. They do not have a high profile player like Dylan Cozens who sinks the entire team but keeps on playing. 3.) You mentioned the play of Levi. In hockey, take a 'good' overall team and give them great goaltending play for a 20-30 game stretch and you will likely see them climb the standings rapidly. 3.) They have not been what I would call a juggernaut. The have been good but up until recently they were middle-of-the pack in their division. And as far as their recent history, last year they were 4th in the conference, lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and had a negative goal differential. We would take that for the Sabres, but not what I would call stellar for last season.

I slightly disagree. There are exceptions to most apparent rules In most metrics, goals for vs goals allowed, possession, high danger chances, plus-minus, there has been a whole list of them posted on this forum, the current roster is equal to or in many cases somewhat better than they have been last year. How is that possible?Jack Quinn. Dylan Cozens. A drop off in play from your goaltending. In most other ways other than those 3 things, this team is an above average team. A team that scores more than they allow. A team that is equal to or better than last year. It is just those 3 players, mostly the first two, that have sunk the team this year compared to previous seasons.

A lot of examples of been referenced and posted that Terry Pegula really likes him. Terry hires a simple yes-man as his GM and make sure the guys Terry likes as a fan get signed. There is your explanation.

J.J.Peterka has played the majority of his minutes this season with Either Tage Thompson or Dylan Cozens as his center. With Tage Thompson as his center and Peterka on the ice, the team has a +22 goal differential this season. With Dylan Cozens as his center and Peterka on the ice, the team has a -8 goal differential. With Anyone else other than those 2 with Peterka, in limited minutes, the team has a +5 goal differential. His production and overall play changes quite a bit depending who he shares the ice with. As is the case with many players on this team, Peterka is a big time postive player for this team when not forced to share the ice with Cozens.
