My feeling is that Adams carries the lion share of the responsibility for what this team has become. The talent is there, but it is still one of the youngest rosters in the league. Had Adams brought in a couple vets to show the young guys the ropes, perhaps things might be going differently. I think the worst thing you can call an athlete....is soft, so I say this with all respect. This team has a minimum of 5 or 6 marshmallows on it. I actually feel sorry for Tuch and Greenway, because they are the only two guys on the entire team who consistently give effort.

While Couzens isn't the only underachiever on this team, at some point, this team needs to stop sending talent out of town, and just demand better play. I've said this since the Briere/Drury debacle...the Sabres are the farm team for the rest of the NHL. At some point that has to stop. And while I'm no fan of KA, Lindy has to have more time to implement his vision for the team. I was there for the Rangers game. It's not that some are lazy, they are completely out of position on plays, and not doing anything but chasing. At one point, two Sabres collided with each other, and took each other out of the play. It looked like the a Keystone Cops comedy routine. Franky, I expected to at least see better discipline from Ruff.

My feeling is that Cozens is a little small for the NHL. Not in height, but in bulk. I had hoped he would hit the weights over the spring and summer, and come to camp a little beefier, hence stronger. In fact there are a handful of guys on the team that way, IMO.

I wouldn't say he stands there looking befuddled per se....but he does tend to stand there looking. Like he's a spectator.

He always struck me as one of the most creative skaters I have seen in a long time, and he simply isn't doing that this year. I think he's dinged up, but still out there doing the best he can, the same as Josh Allen. And FWIW, I think Allen cracked a bone in the opener, and has toned it down because they're trying to nurse himself back while playing on it.

It's funny too, now that you mention it. I remember my Mom and Dad getting all dressed up to go to a Sabres (or Braves) game, which was usually preceded by dinner at the Aud Club. And while my Dad's ties were always fat....they were never tacky! (other than the material) Good times.

Yes, absolutely. But I was referring to the zoot suit on the guy with the mouton chops, as I was forced to wear a yellow corduroy leisure suit to a Braves game as a kid, lol.

I'll give them a pass for the two games in Europe. -

Only the authentics. The reproductions were Fanatics. But I was talking to the guy, and he said that his boss told him at the end of last season, to order as many Adidas jerseys as he possibly could because the Fanatics are much more expensive. So they were selling both brands at the store, of all players. As for the Fanatics, they sell the "reproduction" jerseys for 180 bucks, the" premier" jerseys for 285, (comparable to the Adidas On-ice) and (get this) the "pro" jerseys, which are 500 dollars apiece. They didn't even have any of those on the floor, as far as I could see. I understand there is inflation, but jeez! -
I think what strikes me the most, (other than the way some of the civilians in that video are dressed) is the lack of clutter. Beautiful boards without and ads. No Pepsi logos under the ice, etc. It certainly was a simpler time.

I was there last night. They played very good team defense, and helped UPL a lot. The new scoreboard is great. The corners now show the ice time for whomever is currently out on the ice, (both teams) which I think is really clever. And get this: The store was selling authentic Dahlin jerseys, (all three colors) at 40% off, simply because it had an 'A' on it, as opposed to a 'C'. We each bought one, lol. -
I'm going to the Dallas game tonight with my son.

Do the Sabres make the playoffs this season (second edition)

This. No energy. No enthusiasm. They looked like they were going through the motions out there. -
Tough call. I see Adams at school events, as his son goes to school with mine, and to be honest, he doesn't seem worried. Strikes me as odd that they would hire his personal choice as Coach, then dismiss him after one season together, but I get the frustration, as I have been at a lot of games over the past 15 years. FWIW, my son says Adam's son is a great guy, and an outstanding AAA hockey player.
