GDT / Winnipeg Jets @ Buffalo Sabres Sun. 3/3/24( MSG/ WGR Radio
SabreFinn replied to HOUSE's topic in The Aud Club
I am impressed by the Jets. It seems like they have a huge confidence. Even if they are down by three goals like in the Carolina game, they shift gear and accelerate and force the other team to make mistakes. Impressive. Some lucky goals but good teams get those. Strongest team in the west. -
It does make sense, I know there were rumors and that GM would have had to overpay.
-
Are you saying that they tried to replace Quinn with Zucker?
-
He is a LHD that Sens every now and then play to the right. I do not see him as the solid defenseman we need, he is a leak. I would definitely not trade Jokiharju and a 2nd for him. Zub is more interesting.

I predict it will be a dissapointing trade deadline, not only for the Sabres but overall, just minor impact players moving. I hope to be wrong. There are some RFAs that definitely need change of scenery. Kakko, Kaliyev, Mercer to name the three best. I do not think that Adams brings anyone of them to Buffalo, they might get in the way of our own prospects. And it might not be what we need either. I think he will be looking for veterans and grit. I hope he try to get Rasmus Andersson. Maybe Dowd to the fourth line.

Sabres Have The No.1 Prospect Group - The Athletic
SabreFinn replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I agree with this. I think they made a misjudgement. It is not a big misstake in my opinion, they just need to do the lottery at GMs office and trade some of them for a good RHD with a couple of years left on the contract. -

Money talks! We have to pay more to compensate for their long vacation. That only happens in sports. -
Devils is the team in most need of a goalie but if they took on some of Tanevs salary, does that mean they changed to sell mode?

Elias Pettersson agrees to an 8 year Extension with the Canucks
SabreFinn replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Huge rumours and exciting to see how they will handle this, their new GM has done everything perfekt this far. However, I think this is something we can and will come back to in the summer, the trade is not going to happen at trade deadline! -
I would rather take Pinto or Norris. Batherson or Stutzle could work out fine also. But a in division trade is not going to happen.

I think that our so called first line is the one that is in need of a fix. The Cozens line with JJP and Quinn will be back and as good as ever next year. Mitts and Greenway has been solid all season no matter who has the third player is. The problem is the Skinner - Thompson duo. I do not think Skinner fits in anymore and I hope he is not there next season. But since this was set up as a game where I am supposed to use current players, I would put Benson with Mitts and Greenway, put Tuch together with Thompson and Krebs, with Thompson on a wing. If we were in a situation to experiment more, it could have been an excellent time to try Savoie and give him a serious try between T and T.

GDT/ Buffalo Sabres @ Montreal Canadiens Weds 7pm, ESPN+ MSG & WGR radio

That's true, I love WJC-games. What they ment was basically Anaheim and Buffalo do not have mature structured ways of playing, there is a lets see what happens mentality instead of a pattern. -

A Finnish hockey-podcast I follow compared the two early games on monday, BUF-ANA and BOS-DAL. The podcasters judgement: the Boston-game was a real NHL game, the Buffalo -game was WJC-game... -
Most of these young guys has had nothing but success. They have been stars in high school, college aso. Last year was also succesful even if they never made it to playoffs. I guess they have never been told how hard it can be as a pro. Or they have refused to listen. So when being booo-ed at, and fans want the coach fired, I think it might be a chock, and it affects how they play. But here are some important answers coming from this situation. If Kevyn Adams is a smart guy, and this will show how smart and if he is the man for the job. The situation will tell who the leaders are and are they bringing a sound and solid leadership, who can handle a tough situation and also who can sort out what is relevant in the buuuuing. Just by observing what is going on, Adams should get the recipe for what to do during Summer. And it seems he might get a busy summer.

This is one thing I have big problems to stand. As a European I am used to the preasure on the team from media and fans that we mostly see in soccer, but also might appear in hockey. The persons that make interviews in NHL are just writing yes-sayers who enjoy beeing around a hockey-team. They never put coaches and gm:s against the wall, cause then they are not allowed to hang around anymore. That is what I think.

The roster is built wrong with no-one leading the team forward, and they trust the wrong veterans. Johnson and Girgensons was really bad this game and in lots of other games over the season(gw-goal 100% on UPL this time). And I have big doubts that the young players care about Okposo anymore, they want this ***** to end, make a reset, a good summer practice and get some Revenge (hopefully with stronger leaders) And then there will still be Skinner.... Maybe Kruger was right after all keeping him on the fourth line.

The coming week will show, after next week there should be four wins in a row. After that they will meet seven playoff teams... They have to win two thirds of those teams.

Sabres to open 2024-25 Season in Prague against the Devils
SabreFinn replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
We will see if Kulich can make it to the line-up. Devils has Palat and Vanecek(who probably gets traded). But as there will be players from Switzerland, Germany and Slovakia playing also, they could have chosen a different city. -
Well he plays both powerplay and powerkill, so some trust Torts have in him. And with an "A" on his chest he has been the only player on the team with a letter until like yesterday, in a team that has played much better than expected, so I guess he has to be a decent leader also. And PP, PK and leadership are three main things I believe Buffalo is scouting for. Other than that I do not know, I have not watched Flyers play at all. But I do not think bringing in a veteran from a team in a playoff spot to a team losing is a good idéa. I can not see anyone be motivated then. As a offseason deal I could see Laughton moving.

Sabres to open 2024-25 Season in Prague against the Devils

Florida against Dallas in Tampere also. I will try to get tickets to that game. They might even be in the Stanley cup finals. And just two hour by train from home. -
Below Three tings that I think should be done and I hope GM will fix during the offseason. Fire Granato is not among those three tings, I am that convinced he will be back next season. 1. A RHD to play with Dahlin. Quinn Hughes got his Hronek, Makar has Toews, it is time to get a Hronek for Dahlin. 2. Buy out Skinners contract. I said earlier that it probably will be done with two seasons left, but at this point it is no reason to wait any longer. 3. Get a player specialized on power play(bonus if he do pk also). And one with some guts and leadership, someone that tell Thompson that the whole league has seen his onetimer now, try something new, and that there has to be quick movement on both puck and all players. It is hard to find a player like this and they are not for free, but there are some out there and I say just pick one and Go for it. It can't get much worse.
