Having chewed on it a bit I think: 1. Lindy was the guy before the season ended. There was no coaching search. 2. Lindy will get the players to work hard again and get us to the playoffs and break this ungodly drought. 3. Once we become a playoff team again and hit the patented “Lindy Ceiling”, we look for the coach that puts us over the top, hopefully with the organization having a better reputation at that point.

Is there a world where Lindy convinces Pegula to fire Adams and bring in a real GM?
-
I think you nailed it. Nobody wants to work for Adams and Pegula. Lindy was probably the only above average coach remaining who would interview.

The players need something like this to come through the locker room door.

Who will be the next Head Coach of the Buffalo Sabres?

We need a coach that will help us win the Stanley Cup. I don’t care what he does as long as it happens. -
General comments on End of Year Locker Clean Out Interviews

I've had my eyebrows raised at the "Okposo is a great leader" line we were fed out of nowhere in 2022 after the guy destroyed our salary cap for 4 years prior. I get he went through a tough time and came out of it, but that only can make you a good leader, it doesn't automatically make you one. We need to reconsider the "leader" he was the last few years if this is how the player's behavior is once he and Granato are gone. Not much of a culture and not much winning to speak of. A lot of coddling. -
What happened to the guys who were SO UPSET at the fans chanting “Fire Donnie”. I have a feeling these guys don’t know what they think.

Per Tim Graham a stake of 25% of the Buffalo Bills is for sale

That’s no doubt a factor. Heartless was related to the private equity talk. -

Pretty obvious everything is for sale. From the Bills to the Nighthawks to the tiny little hockey team with a 13 year playoff drought somewhere in between. As for speaking up for private equity, Pegula is even more incompetent than I realized. Or heartless. Maybe both. -

Agreed. @PASabreFan picked up on it too. What gave it away was how fast Wawrow and Graham responded to it and with a serious tone. Despite other posters attempting to dismiss. -
Levi in 2-3 years.

Thanks. I’ll read his book.

Out of curiosity, are there any HOFers in any sport that credit a sports psychologist for their success? Genuinely asking.

It’s a good time for a new coach. Believe it or not, we can still create a great team out of what we have with a couple new (tough) additions. Skinner MUST go. Adams would need to go too for us to get beyond a 1st round playoff loss level. The man is simply over promoted 4 levels above his competency. Time for Pegula to wake up.

Quenneville is the best choice by far. If that turns people off then the next best choice is Gallant. Ruff will break our playoff drought but we’ll peak in the first round. Berube would be similar. Peca looks and talks good but I don’t know if he’d even be better than Appert would be. Brind’amour held prime Lindros out a car window. He’s a bad ass and would be a great coach here. But likely unavailable. -
Breaking: Hoppe says to expect firings, trades
Sabre The Cup replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
What gives me hope is Pegula showing up at games recently. I’m hoping that’s his way of waking up and realizing something isn’t right. Slower than a sloth. -
Can someone explain this in a bit more detail? In this situation, how do tax breaks help? Are the Sabres just a write off?
-
I think he’s just all in on the Bills. NFL teams are extremely expensive and the Sabres are in budget mode because of it. The spending stopped once he bought the Bills. Why won’t he sell? I don’t know. I think he just doesn’t have to. He’s in Florida and doesn’t have to deal with the questions and complaints.

Kevyn and Don, should we really expect more after four years?
Sabre The Cup replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
All is necessary except the President. No need to have another major ego in the room. Best case scenario is that the new owner has a good eye and a good ear from around the league and can figure out the GM on his own. Keep in mind lots of owners are billionaires with great business sense and great eye for general talent. They’re not all clueless like the Pegulas. -
