  1. i think Samuelson needs to sit a game or two. He is so bad right now. Out of position, bad paases, low effort etc... He is jumping into play so much instead of doing what made him valuable and worth contract extension: play solid defense and make a good fist pass.
  2. much better players than the ones you named have been held accountable and lost ice time. Only elite player on Sabres is Dahlin. When you are held accountable, that means consequences. not sure where confusion is.
  3. lacks number one ability: availability
  4. should we be patient to see if granato learns how to coach an NHL team?
  5. When you make mistakes, you are held accountable. Dropped down in lineup or just lost ice time. Or you are done for game to send a message. In sabres case you are more likely to get pat on back than kick in butt if you make mistakes. So many times, I watch a horrible play by a player, be it a giveaway, or being on wrong side of player in defensive zone and think he should not see ice for rest of period, but they are right back out there. Tuch and many other Sabres wingers have an incredible pattern of being in corner defensively and throwing the puck up the boards to where they should be. Right to the dman. That is a quick discussion about never doing that again and if he does, he sits a couple shifts. He knows why, everyone on the team knows why and they see accountability enforced. Make sense?
  6. There is a huge lack of accountability for our players. Young players especially need to be held accountable. You must have good coaching along with that. We do not have that. Same mistakes over and over and over. I keep harping on the "system" we play that leaves our dman out to dry. forwards take off at hint of possession and d has nowhere to go leading to turnovers and icings. Our whole coaching staff needs to be removed. Granato is a motivator coach. those guys last about two years on a good team. This is not a good team. KA is over his head i believe. His idea of drafting skill makes sense, but we need grit as well. there is zero on this team.
  7. Dahlin is next captain. Should have happened this year. Tuch is not a special player. He is not always full effort every night. You see this in his defensive zone play unfortunately. Some of that is Granato wanting players up the ice but some of it is on him.
  8. We are so easy to play against. Forecheck aggressively and take away long passes. No physicality outside of Dahlin and sometimes Clifton to worry about. Our forwards do not backcheck so push odd man rushes. If they have puck in sabres zone just keep moving and finding open guys. Our coverage is such that players pop open all the time. Crash the net on every shot as Sabres will not physically keep you out and are usually out of position. Greenway is really a bad player. 6'5" and he is a perimeter player. needs to spend his time going to net and forechecking physically. He plays like a high skill guy. Skinner is such a bad player in total. He hurts this team in so many ways. Zero defense, stupid passes and he is never held accountable. Goes out next shift and hangs at red line. What a terrible signing. Gave him NMC, and 9 million while bidding against ourselves.
  9. DG is not an NHL caliber coach. Zero adjustments game to game. We insist on leavingthe zone when our dman down deep get puck while forwards take off to neutral zone. It is making our d look worse than they really are. how many giveaways last night and icings were result of long passes not connecting. The only guys with any pushback on team are KRebs, Dylan C, Thompson and Dahlin. that is Adams issue. We are soft as marshmallows. Instead of Okposo, girgensons and jost, we needed guys that are physical and hold the team accountable for their play. Not sure if anyone is mentioning it but Power and Samuelson have taken step backs this year. Not being held accountable for poor play. Part of it is our lack of organization in own zone/coaching other part is they are not playing positionally sound hockey
  10. Some thoughts: We are mostly a perimeter team. Thompson is one of the guys that goes hard to net with and without puck. Dylan has taken a huge step back this year. Let him play center with consistent wingers. Tuch has taken a step back. He is now a floater like Skinner. One big issue right now is our defense zone. Our forwards take off far too early leaving the dman in bad spots. puck is thrown up boards and wings are already gone or are in bad position. We are constantly caught on the wrong side of players positionally in our zone leading to goals. That is coaching and accountability Dressing 7 dman shows the bad coaching. Other teams do this so a PP specialist can dress and not have to take regular shift. Then they double shift the best forwards to give extra ice time. We do not have PP specialist and the only forward worth extra ice time is Thompson. Playing mittlestad, Skinner and Tuch over 20 minutes a game is crazy. none of them are good enough to warrant that. We are a soft team. Easy to play against. No snarl. No pushback. For what Vancouver gave up getting zadorov, i wish we would have. He is not the sharpest knife in drawer, but he plays hard and is difficult to play against. Any team that plays Okposo 15 minutes a night including on PP, will not make the playoffs. I wish we had a coach like Torterella....
  11. would love to see more physical players that are tough to play against. We are so easy to play against. perimeter team and soft in our own zone.
  12. one minute of extra ice time is significant. too small a sample size to make much of it yet. We are still a soft team that is easy to play against....
  13. exciting time to be a fan of Sabres' prospects!!!! Distract me from crying over the Bills' injuries!!! OT Did i use the apostrophes correctly in sabres and bills?
  14. They were not team friendly deals out of players love for buffalo. The players received guaranteed money right now far above what they would receive if they played out ELC to bridge to Arb to FA etc.. It was good for the players and particularly good for the team if players continued to improve. If Samuelson keeps getting hurt, then the deal is not the great deal we hoped it would be.
  15. Fair contract. Assuming cap keeps rising and he continues his high level of play, it will be good for both sides. I don't think team friendly deals are possible in NYS. taxes are too high. Places with low/no taxes make those deals possible. Glad to have this done. On to Power now. My dream is to somehow trade skinner, but it is a dream lol. What a horrible contract that is.
  16. yes. The other player is better than you. here are things to work on. You are close but not ready yet. There are a ton of people on this board that think players have soft feelings you need to protect. You don't. Tell them the truth. They know it already or lack self-awareness and people around them being honest. In that case they need to hear it even more.
  17. i think the Rousek's have it. No reason to rush either of them to NHL. As my dad would say: We need Kane like a hole in the head. He is not a good guy and is amongst the laziest players in the league at this point. who do we take off number one PP for him? Tuch? Thompson? Only place he provides value potentially is number one PP. I assume anyone wanting to sign kane has not seen him play in 4 to 5 years. he look like he is ready to make a jump. If he can maintain in AHL for half a season this step up he is a good candidate to bring up for injury.
  18. sabres play 45-50 home games a year downtown so there is tons of ancillary spending. The concerts and other events held downtown in the arena increase the spending. Cant imagine the arena would stay open without Sabres paying bills. Bills play ten or eleven games at home in a good year. Little ancillary spending by fans. For Buffalo I think Sabres have more of an impact.
  19. If we could keep only one which, would you want? I am Sabres all the way.
  20. With krebbs and greenway this would need to be a forechecking/physical line with cycling the puck as key to success. 1/3 of line cannot forecheck or play physical or cycle the puck well. Green and Krebs are at least average skaters. Olo is below average skater. Can't do much of anything but shoot. it was a fitness issue. He came back in October 2022. he could not hit but certainly could work hard on fitness for at least a month before that. By the end of the season he certainly should have been in good shape. I think Granato mentioned lack of fitness as issue. That is a big deal for him to criticize a player like that.
  21. why are you confident they wont move? I wish we were building a great downtown hockey rink instead of the bills stadium. I think we will end up with only 1 pro team in next ten years. With the money sunk into stadium bills are not going anywhere. Buffalo cannot support two pro teams anymore. I would vote for sabres over bills. 50 games a year with playoffs. I am being optimist i know. Bills are maybe 10 games that we care about if they get a couple home playoff games. Would you all rather have Bills or Sabres? I am definitely Sabres all the way
  22. Elite players: Sabres have at least two, Dahlin, Thompson with two others on upswing in Cozens and Power. Tuch is very good but i hesitate to call him elite yet. Sabres also have several players going into second NHL years ready to take a step up. Ottawa has one in Stultze and Tkchuck is coming on strong. Detroit has zero. Sabres have great young depth of players ready to contribute at nhl level. Ottawa has some but are younger. The trade for debrincat hurt them. Detroit signed some players who are second line at best and traded for debrincat. They have no elite level players. DeBrincat will help on PP. Other than that he is not helpful.
  23. The organization that replaced his company for concessions with a competitor will see no loyalty from Jacobs. If it will increase league revenue and bring in a franchise movement fee he will be OK with it.
  24. Separating everything is part of him trying to sell team. He has told people he has lost 300 million, this was a couple of years ago so more now, since he purchased Sabres. There is not a path to breaking even in the long term right now. Even if rink is renovated or new one built he will not be able to raise prices high enough to pay for it. The lack of Corporations in Buffalo removes a huge revenue stream most other teams have. Buffalo has amongst the lowest per game revenue in the league. With Kim out of picture he might want to reduce his responsibilities to just the Bills and sell the Sabres.
  25. you are dead on. He is king of changing instead of backchecking. He put up stats on an awful team where he was focal point. He would be an awful signing. Thankfully, all of KA moves are around building a cohesive team not catering to a malcontent like Kane. He will be a cancer wherever he ends up. Also if you look at our biggest needs, they are face offs and penalty killing. he brings neither. And did i mention he is a horrendous defensive player 🙂
