he is a bad center. Bad defensively, bad at faceoffs, bad matching up with good centers. He scored goals but did not create for others. he is a good winger who could be a great winger with the right center.
-
the only player on this team who is an equivalent of a 1 type player is Dahlin as a first pair dman. We have no first line type players when compared to best players in the league. Thompson has a chance as a winger. Needs to improve consistency and 200 foot game.
-
agreed. MAckinon and Mcdavid are examples ofnumber one centers.

Thompson is a below average center. Gets lost in own zone, bad at faceoffs, does not use his body correctly as a big center etc.... He was never a center. He can be a very good winger, top ten even if he has good linemates, but he is bad at center. Cozens proved to be a winger as well. Ottawa will learn the hard way on that. Mayb Kulich and Norris can finally get us real centers going forward. Norris must stay healthy, and Kulich must continue to improve. so all he needs is adam oates equivalent and a Tkachuk?

Tage Thompson heads to Boston as a reserve for 4 nations final

he would be lost in a high-level game like that. Assignments are key and he is a floater. -
when he sells the sabres might cease to exist. he would sell tomorrow if he could but there is no one who would want to keep team in buffalo. Need a new or heavily updated rink and the market is too small.

When they shrank the neutral zone, the idea was more room in offensive zone means more offense. Did not happen as coaches adapted by leaving points open and collapsing down and blocking point shots. No man-to-man D that would open areas for offense is happening. No pressure on D takes away excitement as a couple times a game D would cough up puck at blue line and lead to chances. More room behind nets failed as it turns out Gretzky was the unique talent that could create offense from back there LOL. Getting rid of two-line pass also hurts offense as players hang on the other side of the red line. When you had to worry about two-line pass pressure, again, was on D to make a play by getting past blue line. Mistakes there led to offense. These changes to increase offense have led to a boring game of power plays and one timers.

if he was out for year the amazing Mike Harrington would have broke the story....

If Harrington writes something it must be ignored. -

most buffalo take i have seen in a long time -
thompson is not a center. never has been. there is reason we play better when he is on wing.
-
Murray is slow and he does not hit or fight.

Byrum all day. Power is too low energy a player. Has shown regression in dzone. Tyler myers equivalent. These early long term contracts were always a mistake.

Seth Appert has won nothing at any level. He will continue to be a loser in Buffalo. Promoting Appert and giving a two-year contract to Ruff was the biggest indication this was not serious. Adams wants no threats around. Any competent head coach would not want to work with Adams unless they are given roster control. We all know Ruff is at his best, a league average coach. At this point he is below league average. I would rather have a coach who has a history of winning at lower levels. That type of coach will push harder on the little things that will make you a good team. No we don't. Opinions are welcome, this is a message board, but your case is not made by stating an opinion is a 'well known fact'. He MAY be a league average coach. He may be above average. He may be below average, but it is not a 'well known fact', on this forum for one and by listening to interviews from people outside of Buffalo even around the league.

Should We Trade Our Number One Pick This Year?
xzy89c1 replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Tage Thompson is not a great hockey player... Not good enough for 4 nations team. -
you do not even need to clear the crease as they now call that, but you do need to work hard to get in the right position to prevent the easy tips and open far side goals. He shows no interest in improving that. Does not work hard at all in dzone. He is still as physically weak as his rookie year. His teammates need to hold him accountable, or he will never change. That room of losers will never do that though. He should not be on power play in absence of Dahlin either. SB Byrum all day.

they were and continued to be mediocre. Bogosian was 5 or 6th on Tampa team that was dead against the cap and he played for minimum. He was still mediocre. Hall is not a game changer. Played for 6 teams now. mediocre. More likely they were not players we thought they were. Rest of league agrees...
-
both of them continued to be mediocre after leaving. was their plan to play poorly and then turn it up on a different team? They continued to be mediocre.
-
his ceiling is 5th dman. more likely in out of lineup guy.

OK, texted with guy in NHL, he said it was important a couple of years ago when localities started complaining players were not playing and the league sent out a memo. It affects the highest paid players who will be tracked as it is a lot of money. Up to individual players though and tracking who was on the roster and played that game is a lot of work. He said he does not pay the taxes as he is a lower tier player, and the amounts are so low that it will cost more to go after him. As far as spending the week in Cali, he can't imagine a player paying for all those days in taxes instead of just the three game days. Also said it is absolutely a part of a players signing to account for taxes and cost of living. Again, the lower mid-tier type guys.
-
because it has a massive effect on where people sign contracts. Can save ten millionish on a 100 million dollar contract if you sign in florida, Washington or Nashville due to state taxes. does anyone know the exact rules on this? i am asking someone who will know, but he is not always responsive.

ryan johnson is not a player other teams want. kyle clague future in the league
-
have not done that in years. if you dont put your skates in the right place, try to pick stick up early, try to anticipate the drop. it is pretty easy to know why when someone is booted most of the time. typically linesman will warn a player to stop it and if they dont they will get tossed and have a tough rest of game.
-
that was very honest what he said. when it is the standard answers that is to be ignored.
