  1. Agree, there has never been a bad Bourne movie. Even enjoyed the one with Jeremy Renner. Really enjoyed the first 3 mission impossible movies. After that, hit or miss. Loved all the Sean Connery Bond movies as well as the Daniel Craig ones. Heard rumors that Idris Elba (Luther) may be the next Bond, but who knows. My favorite Bond movies were From Russia with Love and Casino Royale.
  2. Also saw "The Killer" on Netflix. Its a David Fincher movie. It was interesting but not sure I liked it. Sorry that the David Fincher series Mindhunters as not renewed. Really enjoyed that.
  3. Just saw the latest Mission Impossible. It was OK, but nowhere near as good as the last one. Kind of boring at times
  4. Would rather watch CSPAN repeats. Hope its the MSG feed. The NHL Network announcers are beyond brutal.
  5. As I mentioned before I am also a Knicks and Yankees fan. In the case of the Knicks and Rangers, which are both owned by MSG I find it interesting that ownership can be so clueless (until recently) and have one really well run organization (The Rangers) and one organization, until recently, that has been a joke (similar to Bills and Sabres, though I feel the Rangers are better run than the Bills). Dolan basically knows nothing about hockey and has entrusted the Rangers to very good people. He thought he knew something about basketball and until he hired Leonard Rose, the knicks were a joke. Like Pegula, he hired mostly yes men (or incompetents) to run the Knicks and we all saw the end result. Now I actually enjoy watching the knicks. While there are other teams with more talent, they are tough and gritty and rarely out of a game. Like Adams, Rose keeps accumulating top draft picks, but unlike Adams, Rose will eventually pull the trigger when the right player is available. Unlike Adams, he has brought in tough, savvy veterans to help the Rookies and fill out the roster. Hope the Sabres can do this eventually.
  6. I share your feelings about the Yankees front office. Some parallels with Sabres mess -- an owner who doesn't have the will to do the right thing and get rid of current management. More optimistic about the Yankees than the Sabres given the cache of the organization.
  7. I feel the Sabres could learn from the Knicks. The team has arguable only one superstar (Brunson), but has a lot of complementary parts that reflect the coach's no-nonsense, play hard philosophy. Unlike the Sabres, they are a team who have each others' backs and typically give maximal effort. I wish I could say this about the sabres. Also, the knicks have brought in savvy veterans (Hart, Hartenstein) who know their role on the team. Makes a big difference.
  8. I am a Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, New York Yankees and New York Knicks fan. A little background: I grew up in the Bronx and was taken to a number of Yankee games by my father, but really got into the Yankees during the Jeter/Mariano era. Ditto with the Knicks, but became a fan during the era of the Championship team (Frazier, Bradley, etc.). I went to graduate school in Buffalo and following graduation accepted a number of jobs there. I met my wife (who is from Long Island) there and she had a job where she got a lot of freebies, including Bills and Sabres tickets. I remember the first Bills game I saw (where they weren't good) but was impressed by how huge Earl Campbell was. I became hooked during the Kelly era and have watched ever since. I moved back to New York City in the late eighties and have watched the Bills whenever I could. NFL Sunday was a dream come true to me. I became much more involved with the sabres the last few years (although I have very fond memories of the Hassek era) and now watch the games primarily on Hulu. I don't hate any of the other New York team -- I just have zero interest in them. Does anyone else have a story they would like to share?
  9. The other day Granato was asked about Krebs and he gave a cryptic answer about there is more to come. Any idea what he is referring to?
  10. This doesn't look so bad to me. Dallas isn't much ahead of us and its a much bigger market.
  11. Wrath of Man (Jason Statham) The Menu (Ralph Fiennes) Emily The Criminal (offbeat, but really good) Luther: The Fallen Sun (I really liked the Luther TV series and the movie is good). Idris Elba is rumored to be the next James Bond. The Pledge (Jack Nicholson) An older movie but very good. Poker Face (TV series on Peacock). Watched but didn't think it was very good. Felt it was kind of one note and don't understand the fuss about Natasha Lyonne. Give me the old Columbo series anyday if you like this genre. If you want to watch a really good and well acted series, watch Perry Mason Season II on HBO. Top notch acting and storyline. By the way, I hear there will be a season 3 of the Warriors (based on Bruce Lee's writings) on HBO. Enjoyed seasons 1 an 2, so looking forward to this.
  12. You can always move Granato management and make him Director of Player development (or some title like this). And get a real manager -- no Mr. nice guy like Aaron Boone, but someone like Buck Showalter.
  13. I always find it interesting that owners of multiple teams rarely have success with both of them. Look at Jim Dolan -- he owns the Knicks and The Rangers. The Knicks have been a horror show until recently, while the Rangers have been well-run for multiple years. And the Pegulas -- the Bills are overall a good organization while the Sabres are embarrassing.
  14. Have they ever hired an outside consultant with real knowledge to get an overall assessment of the organization. I know that this has been done a number of times in football. Companies do this all the time, and maybe it would give them some insight.
  15. I too find them unwatchable. They look defeated and uncompetitive. Is that youth or coaching? I find myself spending more time watching The Knicks, who seems really competitive and looking forward to baseball beginning. A shame.
  16. I am relatively new to this but not sure why the Pegulas are so reluctant to spend money on the Sabres, especially since they appear to be showing some positive signs. I am a big Bills fans and certainly don't see any reluctance to spend there. I thought Terry was a big hockey fan and was dying to buy the Sabres. Even if they have shown a losing past, why not put money into the team to improve it?
  17. I agree. I also think Kevin Adams made a big mistake not bringing in reinforcements for his team before the trade deadline. He was afraid of mortgaging the future. However, creating bad morale and a hopeless sense like he has now is mortgaging the future. I remember before the trade deadline last year people were talking about the Yankees not mortgaging their future in order to get immediate help. Michael Kay said he didn't understand this way of thinking. In his mind a prospect is just a prospect -- a hope for the future. Very few prospects make it to become successful major league players. If you find the right major league player, you should definitely trade prospects because it will help your team now and in the future.
  18. I live in Long Island and get the watch the Rangers, Devils and Islanders. When I look at the Rangers bench, they look like a championship team, with a certain amount of swagger. While maturity is certainly a factor, as well as past success, by comparison, when you look at the Sabres bench during a game, they do look very young, and a little bit like a dear in headlights. Hoping that another year of experience will change this, but I also feel they need a more fiery leadership and someone to get in peoples faces -- a little like Josh Allen and Jalen Brunson of the Knicks. The coach seems too much like a gentleman, and needs to show a little more fire.
  19. It all started in the first period. The Sabres looked slow as molasses. For every skate taken, there was a Flyer on top of them. To me it looked over in the first period -- no adjustments, nothing to counter what the Flyers were doing. When I think of teams on the verge, I look no further than the '95 Yankees. They seemed to make progress throughout the end of the year and you had little doubt they were on the verge of something. I haven't seen this yet from this Sabres team. Certainly, good goal-tending would take them further (I know I can't hope for Mariano Rivera, but at least some improvement here).
  20. I had the same thought the other day. I thought at least 5 games.
