I get the need to stick up for teammates, but the real issue is the lack of strong fundamentals: getting out of own's zone, not taking the third period off (pedal to the metal mentality), having players in front of the other goalie's net, avoiding turnovers, finishing one's checks and situational awareness.

Not sure who the leaders are on the Sabres. Don't think Dahlin is a leader. I thought Tuch might be, but he seems very quiet. Our most fiery players are Zucker and Krebs. Like that they show passion. Zucker might have leader qualities, but not sure he is a permanent piece. A quandary!! In the absence of clear leaders, wish we had the old Lindy rather than Yoda.

The one acoustic guitar I owned was the Gibson Everly Brothers, which was a beautiful guitar. An interesting story about the 1958 Les Paul. I believe this was the model Jimmy Page used. The other guitarist in the band obtained the Les Paul from a guy in Brooklyn. Believe it was in the original case (pink plush interior) with the tags on it. I never heard a guitar this powerful sounding before. In those days the pickups were wound by hand. After my friend sold it, he was informed by the buyer that one of the pickups was broken -- only one of the coils was working. However, at the time, when we compared it to the Les Paul guitars made at the time (mid 1970s) this guitar, even with its broken pickup blew the other guitar away. Apparently they are currently making copies of the old Les Pauls, (the copies are quite expensive) but I have yet to hear one of them.

I find it amazing what these guitars cost now. I now longer play guitar, nor have any guitars (like you I am retired). However, in my youth, the other guitarist in the band and myself owned at one time: 1958 Les Paul Fender Broadcaster SG Standard ES 335. If we still had these guitars, we might have been able to retire earlier. The current prices are astronomical!!

I agree. She is referring to thinking out of the box, and the need to take risks -- but also the need to shake up the roster, and make trades. Don't thinks Adams by himself can do this. He either needs help or needs to be replaced. Adams reminds me of the Steve Carell character in the 41 Year old Virgin. The character could not get rid of his collectible soldiers, which he used as a crutch to not take any risks. Adams seems to feel the same way about this players and prospects -- they are his and he can't let go. Instead, he should be let go. Also what is it with Lindy during the games. It seems like he just seems to stand there like a Buddha and appears to say nothing. Its very weird to watch.

ESPN has an article titled "Can the Buffalo Sabres still salvage their 2024-25 season?" It is by Kristen Shilton, their NHL reporter. Its worth taking a look at. Here is the link: https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/43300075/nhl-2024-25-buffalo-sabres-salvage-season-playoffs-drought Bruce

Going forward, it appears to be that the Sabres are going to have to trade one of them to improve the team. They need a right handed defenseman, and they desperately need at the very least a serviceable forward. Which of the two would you trade and why?

Blue Chew for the whole team!! -
I agree. There are a number of basketball players who have taken years to recover from similar injuries.

This is an interesting analysis. We desperately need a Brandon-Beane type GM. Kevin Adams is in way over his head -- yet the team could be salvaged with a few savvy moves. -
Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch

Been enjoying season 2 of Silo (Apple TV). If you like 1984ish science fiction you will probably enjoy this. Season 2 of Lioness on Paramount was only OK. If you like Stalone you will probably enjoy Tulsa King. I had trouble watching more than 1 episode of the Dune TV series on Max. -
Terry Pegula needs to sell the Buffalo Sabres (article)
steveoat87 replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
Its the Jerry Jones syndrome. Jerry thinks he knows something about football. He doesn't. When he had good coaches they could cover up alot for his failings. -
I don't feel we really know what we have until we get a competent front office. This needs to happen ASAP before a major selloff.

Terry Pegula needs to sell the Buffalo Sabres (article)

To me the best choice would be if the daughter Laura took over. She would probably appoint a legit organizational structure and Terry could take the role of the good father getting her set up. A potential win-win. -
The Reality of our Head Coaching Situation
steveoat87 replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
They have been drafting too many offensively minded defensemen -- no-one who could strike fear into an opponent. They have been drafting the equivalent of nice pass rushers, who don't sense blood when they get near the quarterback. The Sabres are the type of team that would have drafted Sam Darnaud over Josh Allen. Until this mindset changes, I don't see much hope from our draft picks. -
Not saying the situation is the same, but look at Winnipeg this season. With competency, you can turn this around in a year or two.
-
So for someone logical the conclusion is that the problem is not the coach (though I don't think Granato was a good coach).
-
In order to save his own ass, is it possible that Adams tries to put the blame on Lindy, and Lindy is fired?

GDT: New York Rangers @ Buffalo Sabres 7pm TNT

This is true but for hockey players without teeth this is a non-issue. -
I recall in his presser Adams complained that he didn't have a Josh Allen. If I recall, Allen wasn't a number 1 pick, but he went in the top 10. Kevin probably wouldn't have picked him (it takes real scouting and investment of time and resources). He currently has two numbers ones on the team (Dahlin and Power) and look what good this does -- it does not make Buffalo a palm tree destination.

Nothing is worse than a manager who is both incompetent and arrogant (this has nothing to do with Palm Trees).
