  1. I like UPL. He may or may not stay the course (hopefully he does) but after that 6-5 overtime win vs. Minnesota last year, that sold me. He gave up 5 but had at least 5 game changing saves. Especially in overtime. That was a great game. Last year was at least exciting no matter what. Would like to see that again
  2. Normally I'd agree, but this one is simple to understand. I usually ignore the super nerdy graphs with a thousand "advanced stats" tied to them. Nothing beats the eye test, to me
  3. This doesn't matter. If certain guys dont progress here, then it doesn't matter if they do on another team. If you'd prefer, trade prospects who are not currently a regular in the lineup. Adams has a million Current wait and see approach is exhausting Just curious, what would your approach be to improving the team? I'd start by firing Granato but you seem to usually say it's the players. Well if it's a player only problem, wouldn't you logically like to trade some of them? I'd start with Granato, personally.
  4. I understand the thread. I understand being annoyed beyond belief. Blowing it up has not worked, look to the past 12 years. Tim Murray: Nepotism, not enough knowledge, call it what you like. His very strategy was "blow it up". It's STILL lingering to this day. Trade Miller, trade Halak, trade Neuvirth, get Lehner. Oops. Tank for Eichel, whoops. Could go on and on and on but we all know what he was like. Bylsma got fired after two years. TWO. With a brand new Eichel. Firing coaches after two years will always be stupid to me. Regardless of what people thought of him. Two years is like two days to me, not enough time. I'd consider that under the blow it up strategy. Jason Botterill: Assistant Gm, not enough knowledge to begin with, former player. Doomed. Blows it up by trading O'Reilly. Horrible trade, still not good enough. I dont care that Tage scored 47 last year. O'Reilly has a CUP. Botterill should have offered to be O'Reillys butler to get him to stay. You keep your best players or try your very hardest. I dont believe for one second he did. Hires Housley, fired after two years. Too soon whether he's a good coach or not. Although, Housley was clueless. Changing the lines mid game every game drove me nuts. Hires a coach that had been out of hockey in Ralph and was a loser anyway while a coach. Hey, maybe that's why Ralph left hockey? He knew he wasn't good at hockey? Lol. That to me is the most headscratching coach hire I've ever seen. That's no different than hiring the local plumber to be your coach. Botterill fired and Ralph fired very quickly, I'd categorize that as blowing it up. Firing guys after 2 years is blowing it up. List goes on about both of them. Adams: Traded Eichel. Guy gets the neck surgery he wanted and wins the cup, lol. Of course. I dont disagree with the Jack trade, however. His attitude was always a problem and he requested a trade anyway. But trading your best player at the time is still blowing it up. Fires Ralph mid season. Hires Granato and here we are. In my humble opinion, Adams needs to fire Granato and as soon as possible and avoid blowing it all up. The scoring talent is there. 296 goals last year. Granato needs to go. List goes on. Common denominators: Blowing it up has been tried 388733443 times the last 12 years, hasn't worked. Pegula is to blame for consistently hiring GMs who are in over their head who in turn hire the wrong coaches. Leading to blowing it up. Only one GM had the knowledge and track record since Pegula took over to right the ship. And he was fired during his legitimate start of a rebuild. Regier was right. And it would have been done correctly, firing Regier started all of this. It all starts with Pegula.
  5. Lol @ hotdogs it Zegras is a mega priss. He's from New York probably the Hamptons or something Yeah, Anaheim started off 9-7 I believe then imploded. Seems like this game would be an inexcusable loss but how many times has that been said this year Sabres win 5-2
  6. Then let's hope it's "unusually" This is a full rebuild, an actual one. They absolutely can and will wait that long. Just ask Adams. We're all going to be waiting for years. If said power forward takes 2-3 years to develop, that's still better than whatever flimsy fancy guy we have now. To your 2nd point, I don't disagree with that either. But Adams seems keen on doing things the slow, methodical and safe way when it comes to roster transactions.
  7. I wish it was too early in the season to talk about this, but it really isn't. Sigh How about this? Trade the pick, fine. If they don't, then please make it a bold pick. No more "safe" picks. Take a risk, reach for a guy. I do not care. If Adams' guy is ranked 12th, and we pick 8th, make the pick anyway. Hopefully it's for an actual power forward. Shane Doan, Keith Tkachuk, any Tkachuk, Rick Tocchet, anybody along those lines. A guy every opponent willfully thinks twice about checking That's what the Sabres need
  8. With all the doom and gloom around here, (and rightfully so because the Sabres are disappointing) I thought a nice change up would be to nominate the most knowledgeable/unbiased posters. Or, just your favorites. Maybe even someone that used to post here regularly. People who may go against the grain but always stick to their beliefs. That's rare in this day and age, lol. I'll start Perreaultforever I look forward to reading this guy's posts. Usually offers a unique although contrarian take on the Sabres' state of affairs. Thorny This guy should write a book on Hockey. Objective, unbiased and types/writes like every submission he provides is an essay straight out of Harvard. PASabrefan This guy makes me think. I dont always understand, but it's interesting none the less. Corny topic? Oh well. I find even simple compliments can make someone's day. It does for me, lol. What does everyone else think?
  9. His stats aren't other worldly, but he's been significantly better. The Sabres make the playoffs last year if UPL played to his current stats.
  10. This guy is absurdly long line at the grocery store mad
  11. Would be shocked if he was traded. Need more guys to be selfless like him Just make the smart play, use your body. No more fancy crap and this team would be miles ahead in all aspects
  12. The Sabres should buy and sell. Crappy trade for first round picks is why they're where they're at. Even if the playoffs are out of reach, you can still bolster the roster for next year
  13. Oh, so that's why you don't know they're dumb. Makes sense
  14. Lol that's a funny penalty. He just appeared there out of thin air
  15. I wouldn't mind a big trade sending Cozens or Mittlestadt. Or Granato being canned
  16. We're all gonna see the Sabres from last year in this game, count on it 7-2 Sabres UPL (The Beast) 35 shots 33 saves Sabres total shots: 45 Thompson hat trick
  17. Re-visit a trade for Stamkos
  18. Not thanking anybody until they make the playoffs
