  1. My question is how is everyone here going to react when Eichel turns out to be MVP of the Stanley Cup winning team this year?
  2. I know there was anger there but what was the reason? What does this guy do that wears out his welcome and that he can't stick somewhere? Or are short coaching tenures just a sign of the times in a league where most teams lose money, regardless of winning? And what did Gallant do to make the Panthers make him pay for a taxi or whatever? He's a winning coach; there's only one team per year that wins it all...a winning coach shouldn't be treated this way team after team unless there's something weird going on with him.
  3. Can't figure it out, that's why I asked.
  4. Gallant was coach of the CBJ from 2003-2007. His record was a mediocre 56-76-4. Fired after three years. He was then coach of the Panthers from 2014-2017. His record was 96-65, also fired after three years. After that, he was coach of VGK from 2017-2020. His record was 118-75. He was fired after three years. After that it was the Rangers from 2021-2023. His record was 99-46 and fired after two seasons. His total coaching record is 369-262. That's a pretty darn good record. Why does he keep getting fired after 2-3 seasons?
  5. Big changes coming for TO. Dangle with the quote: "Why don't any of the things that I love, love me back?"
  6. Offseason plan: Defense, defense, defense. And one good veteran goalie.
  7. Noone does unbridled hysteria like Dangle:
  8. One of the ways I see teams scoring in the playoffs but not necessarily in the regular season is a guy will miss a golden opportunity but the team keeps quickly moving it around until they find another open guy again and then a goal. Usually after a golden opportunity the defensive team either retrieves it or clears it but I keep seeing this in the playoffs. It's like an intense swarm after a near miss, smelling blood, finally to go for the jugular.
  9. If you've ever grinded sandpaper between your teeth you'll know what grit is.
  10. Lurking the Bruins' board, looks like many fans want to rid the team of...Ullmark...who in their opinion s*** the bed the last two playoffs. Any takers? Not sure he'll be available, but I think he'd make a good tandem w Levi, if it wasn't for his history of injuries and a NTC. Still, food for thought but Linus may be a giant in regular season and a shrinking violet in the playoffs. Another thought: it's hard to project but several of our players aren't gritty enough...if the Sabres make the playoffs, they need certain types of characters to succeed there and I'm not sure they have enough sandpaper.
  11. He should become a spokesman for sour milk.
  12. that's DOES. IMO this is a silly thread. Skins will make it into the Hall of the Darn Good, not even the Hall of the Very Good.
  13. Random Buffalo flavored playoff thoughts: Don't forget, Florida was the President's Trophy winner last year...Ullmark is apparently more comfortable with regular season games against inferior opponents. What an OT brainfart yesterday. Wonder if they play Swayman next game...Wouldn't it be funny if Boston is eliminated after winning a record 65 games?...Even Taylor Hall, he of 2 goals and 17 assists with -21 in 37 games with Buffalo turned on the jets last night. No matter, he's a loser. There are whispers here in Boston that there's something medically wrong with Jack Edwards...Apparently Montour received a "testicular contusion" last night. Ouch. Even a cup doesn't help that. Former Sabres (the Buffalo Traitors) are so far doing well this playoffs. Eichel takes a game off then comes up with three points, then takes another game off. But Vegas is deep. When Evan Rodrigues is one of your only scorers, there's some problems. Funny how no team has clinched yet. It's been a real dogfight and there are no givens. My prediction for SCF: Toronto vs. Vegas and Toronto wins.
  14. I like the togetherness of this club. I hear that fifteen of them are going on vacation together now, without the wives and without the girlfriends. Fifteen!
  15. Don't forget, the Panthers were the President's Trophy winner last year and they got swept in the first round. President's Trophy teams seem to have much difficulty in the playoffs in recent years. It would be a real shame if Taylor Hall and the Boston Bruins get eliminated in round 1. But I was sincerely hoping for the Panthers to be swept so they'd be in complete chaos, being swept two years in a row.
  16. The Vegas team has just proved they're a bunch of cheating, sabotaging a-holes. They removed all the pedals from the stationary bikes in the Jets' lockerroom. In 2018, they also removed all the nets from the Lightning practice goals. https://www.thehockeybeast.com/nhl/vegas-golden-knights-reportedly-sabotaged-jets-locker-room-gets-slammed-for-bush-league-move/
  17. How I hate Zyglis and TBN.
  18. Here we go...Leafs get those golf clubs ready!
  19. wtf, why wasn't it retired? anyway that's my prediction for next season.
  20. Victor Olfsson with 40+ goals. Not sure which team he'll play on, hopefully the Sabres.
  21. Buffalo has so much firepower coming up the pipeline, it's hard to see how everything sorts out once things settle in. It might have go year to year. I do see a lot of mix and match combos to exploit different teams' weaknesses. Next year I see Krebs and Jost together - two diggers with offensive upside - along with a finisher like VO or Savoie. I see Greenway on the 4th line. Appreciative of their contributions but hope to see KO and Girgs elsewhere next year. Seeing how this year ended with Thompson, Dahlin and Samuelsson playing hurt (who knows who else) and limping to the finish line, I'd like to see a lot more resting of the top guys this year against the bottom teams. In particular, I'm concerned about Thompson's back.

    Toast

Sooner or later, we're all toast.
  23. I see Krebs and Jost showing significant scoring improvements next year (maybe together with Savoie?) along with Quinn and Peterka. These four have pedigree and are advancing rapidly in this atmosphere.
  24. From what I've seen from this year highlights, the Amerks have similar needs to the Sabres. Defense and goalie. And that's the foundation of a successful team. Otherwise, you're putting desert in front of meat and potatoes.
