Was she 6'1" and only weighed 80 pounds the first time around?

I don't want to trade Sekera unless he goes in a package to upgrade the top 6 in a big way, and Regehr can't go because other than Weber there is no toughness on the blueline. The guy I'd be willing to part with now or at the dealine(preferably now) would be Leopold. I doubt he is re-signed, and not only do you have Brennan pushing for a spot, but McNabb and Pysyk should be challenging for a spot come September. Sekera is WAY undervalued here by some.

If Nabakov can regain some of his old form, and the Isles can find a couple of defenseman for 5-6-7 roles, they could challenge for a playoff spot. I'd be surprised if they finished last in the conference or even in the bottom 3. They certainly have enough talent up front.

Bottom line...Hecht is a better forward option than anyone in Rochester, and if he can stay healthy, is not being overpaid(I'm guessing he is signed for 1.5-2mil), and is on a one year contract, it seems to be a win-win. He is not here to be a top 6 player(unless massive injuries occur), is good on the PK, brings some offensive ability to the bottom six, and is a WAY better option as #3 center instead of Ott or "no mas" Leino. Where's the problem with this?

I'd be surprised if the Sabres don't try to go toe to toe with Pittsburgh on this subject.

I am hoping for otherwise, but it would not surprise me if the Sabres missed the playoffs AGAIN.

What happened to Gerbe? -
Sorry, I'm bursting your bubble now...how many combined NHL games do the listed players have? My point, just because guys succeed at the junior or AHL level, doesn't equate to NHL success. Take Luke Adam's AHL rookie season in Portland as Exhibit A. Some may work out. Some won't.

Airlines are not as well regulated in Russia. If it is even a miniscule percentage worse over there, I go with the safer option. Furthermore, if the KHL is so great from an overall standpoint, how come so many Europeans continue to flock to the NHL?
-
If Hecht wants to sign a 1 year deal, I'm all for it. He is miles ahead of anyone else who can play the 3rd line center role this season, and would instantly be the best defensive center we have. Just a reminder to anyone penciling Ott in at center...from what I read, while he took a lot of faceoffs in Dallas, he would then switch to wing. He is NOT the answer as your #3 center and either is "no mas" Leino.

Playing for less money with the Islanders in the US/Canada or playing in the KHL flying in unsafe airplanes? Easy decision.

Add Ott. Subtract Roy. Done.

Bring it on BamBam...I love the Ek rumors. :D

Have to take the good with the bad!

Millbank is around. He has been posting over on TSW. He'll be back. Let me jog your memory... http://forums.sabrespace.com/index.php?app=members&module=list&max_results=20&sort_key=posts&sort_order=desc&filter=ALL

Clear waivers easily?
-
Me too. I didn't care during the lockout, and I don't care now. Good to have you back!
-
Defense is unbelievably young. They need a vet back there in a bad way.
-
Lockout is over...you think the NHL Network could run some live programming once a night to provide updates? NOPE!

I have no use for Ellis, and McCormick while he had a great year in 10-11 both in terms of physical play and scoring, sucked last year in all regards. You would think it would be easier to find 4th line guys for the big club who are toiling in the AHL and are just itching for a chance to play with the big boys, and do whatever it takes to stay up here. Tropp would have been that guy, and a guy who has enough skill and could easily move up to the 2nd or 3rd line in a pinch.

Miller(along with Vanek & Pominville) is a UFA after 13-14 season.

To those who have been in hiding since last summer. Welcome back. I look forward to talking hockey with you again. I know we are all passionate about our team and no matter how heated the debates get, we all share the same wish...A Stanley Cup Championship. Now where are all my cliff notes on my dislike of Ruff & Regier!
-
It's great to be talking hockey again!

My 2 cents on trading Sekera... Regier & Leopold could both be former Sabres come September, and McNabb who many here thought was ready to be an NHLer, has regressed in a big way so far this season in Rochester. That being said, the center position is still a mess for this shortened season unless Grigs is ready to make the jump, and even then they are way too young up the middle with Hodgson, Ennis & Grigs.

I had not watched any of the tourney before waking up this morning to see the last two periods. Great to see the USA kids win, and also to see some hockey! :worthy:
