  1. Along with many other factors, longevity has to play a big role in forming a list such as this, and this is why there is no way Lala deserves to have his jersey retired, and ranked #3 on this list, despite only playing basically the equivalent of 3-1/2 years as a Sabre..and in no way am I disrespecting him, those were some exciting seasons while he wore the blue and gold. Sneaky Pete and Ducky aren't much different(except for lesser impact than Lala) in that they were only Sabres for roughly ~4 seasons. I'm assuming this poll is about the time spent as a player only while wearing the blue and gold, and not their entire careers?
  2. Good guys come back in a big way... Sabres 6 Kings 2 Reinhart(2), Eichel, Mitts, Dahlin, and Skinner.
  3. Didn’t see or hear the game but a little disappointing to look at the box score, see that the Sabres jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then give up a goal at the end of the 1st period, and another at the start of the 2nd period.
  4. Rob Ray if anything should be 3rd man in the group(from ice level). I've always thought it strange, not to have your primary analyst up in the press box where the view of the entire rink is so much better. That being said, Ray's butchering of the English language isn't going to be any better no matter where he is sitting. LOL
  5. As long as they aren't hurting the team defensively in a really bad way, I'd continue to leave them as is. Reevaluate after 10-15 games.
  6. Girgs & Larry are right where they belong salary wise(maybe even a bit high). They are good bottom 6 guys, but I'd continue to go at them with one or two year contracts as long as possible. I don't want Botts to start handing out 3 and 4 year deals to bottom 6 forwards who have pretty much peaked(grinders who put up 10-15 points per year).
  7. Sabres continue to roll... Sabres 3 Ducks 1 Skinner, Eichel & Dahlin for the good guys
  8. I know many did not see him play, but Craig Ramsay and his 14 year career as a Sabre is being undervalued in this poll. Great checking forward, fixture on the PK, Selke award winner, 8 straight 20 goal seasons. Maybe my allegiance to the 70's teams have clouded my judgement, but he was a really good player for a very long time...and he played his entire career with the Sabres.
  9. The little bit we saw of Montour last season, he seemed to be quite the freelancer when it came to jumping up in the play and I don’t have a good feel for his play in his own end. I’m anxious to see his play under a new HC and system.
  10. If you find you have abandoned teams in either blue or gold, and are looking for new ownership, please let me know. I'd be glad to take over a team.
  11. Blowing two goal 3rd period leads the past two games has me a little nervous about today. Over the last two games, they've also really come out of the gates slow(first 10 minutes or so). I'd like to see a more solid 60 minute game. Dallas is a really good team with above average goaltending despite what their record might indicate. Buffalo 4 Dallas 2 Skinner, Oloffson, Joker & Middelstadt
  12. Saw the opener. Missed the last two because I was in Nashville(excuse me for being distracted). ? Good guys in a big way tonight... Buffalo 5 Montreal 2 Eichel(2), Reinhart, Joker and Girgensons with the goals.
  13. Ralph has the boys ready to go! Sabres 4 Pens 2 Eichel, Vesey, Skinner & Miller
  14. This is the kind of banter I never realized I would miss. LOL
  15. I've lurked here from time to time, and also visited other boards over the last few years. I know this may sound corney, but the other places always seem cold. The Aud Club always had a warm friendlier feel to it...at least most of the time. :) Good to be home.
  16. Except for some SabreSpace blue and gold fantasy hockey posts, I have been on a 4 year hiatus. Unfortunately, fast forward 4 years, and nothing has changed in terms of the Sabres fortunes. Be easy on me during my return...I am a little rusty. PS Good to see my "complaint" thread is still alive and well. Go Sabres!
  17. I'm in for Gold again(Captain Morgan). Two things...last year we had four goaltending categories(W, GAA, SA & SV%)...that needs to be reflected for new league where there are currently seven goaltending categories. The other thing...I would replace SHP with GWG. Short handed points is just a crap shoot...or just get rid of the category without adding another.
  18. I will be holding my SabreSpaceGold championship parade at 1PM tomorrow. It will be held outside of the local Dollar Tree store. Afterwards, everyone in attendance gets one free item from the store. It was a fun year...except for a couple of deadbeat teams from the outset.
  19. I left roughly a year and a half ago. Only signed in for the purpose of keeping up with thread related to SabreSpace Gold Fantasy Hockey League. I will chime in and say this, I do lurk from time to time, and nothing has really changed that would make me start participating in hockey talk again. Maybe someday.
  20. I am making one last plea in Gold...can the owners of Paul's Pleasant Team and Qwksndmonster please spend at least 5 minutes each week to start active players and replace anyone on IR. I hate lame duck teams especially ones that are that way from the very beginning of the season. Thx.
  21. Me too. I wonder if that is a setting that can be changed(for next year). Also...in gold, I believe there is a least one absentee owner
  22. I have a suggestion for next year...increase pick time to 90 seconds. I don't know if I had "auto pick owners" on each side of me when drafting, but I couldn't keep up with the selections.
  23. If you are talking about Gold, I'm out for Tuesday. I realize you are trying to accommodate everyone, but changing the draft day/time at the 24 hour mark makes it tough.
  24. I was the one who brought up the goalie issue, but my suggestion was to have only 12 teams. With 14 teams there weren't enough goalies to go around. Not sure if at this late date you want to switch back to two goalies since there are now only 12 teams, or leave it at 1 goalie.
