  1. Not that I want Granato as the HC of the Sabres in 2021-2022, but is there any word on when McCabe, Eichel, Cozens or Ullmark are due back. Without them, they are placeholders....actually they are probably placeholders either way.
  2. Well for those who think it will be Leaman, Providence is in the Hockey East semifinals tonight, and are ranked 17th in the country. A loss in the semis probably means no Frozen Four for him.
  3. I hope you aren't suggesting he be hired as the HC? Based on what...other than the fact that he is a former Sabre?
  4. Go back and read my post. The quote from Pegula reads more involved with "GM/Coach" and specifically mentions Bylsma. It's more than just involved in the GM search because obviously he is involved with it because of the refusal to hire a VP of Hockey Ops.
  5. Actually Step 1 is hiring an experience VP of Hockey Ops and then let him decide what to do with KA. I know it won't happen, but that is what should happen.
  6. This has been my point about the last 11 years. 50% of the teams make the playoffs, but somehow they have screwed this up so badly, not only haven't they made the playoffs, they haven't come CLOSE! ๐Ÿ˜ก
  7. and this... As for the future structure of the organization, Pegula was asked whether or not he might hire someone to oversee the hockey department above the general manger. He didn't rule it out, but said that the structure will depend partially on the vision of the first person they bring into the organization. "Without disclosing specifics on this search, we are going to find the best candidates that we will bring into our organization to achieve our goals," he said. "The structure will land depending on the first person that we bring in, what his attitude is and how we should work together." Pegula also said that experience will be a key in the search for a new general manager, although he added that their approach may change as they begin to speak with candidates. He also said that he will be more personally involved than when Murray or Bylsma were hired. "I can tell you that I was not involved in the last GM/coach search to a large extent and I regret that move," he said. "And that's all I'm going to say about that." Pegula said that no interviews had been conducted as of Friday morning. /case closed
  8. Here you go(from the Spectrum News website). I am reading this as it happened prior to a decision being made on the hire... Pegula said he was immediately impressed with Krueger's worldly background and philosophies. "There was a feeling when Ralph came in the room that it was almost a presence. It was like, 'Well, this guy's different,'" he said. "We started talking to Ralph and we didn't want to leave. I took so many notes, I stopped taking notes because Ralph's a quote machine." Pegula was particularly impressed by Krueger's decision to visit Buffalo and spend time talking to fans in bars while watching the NHL playoffs to get a sense of the city. "It's so ingenious," he said. "He's an out-of-the-box thinker."
  9. Just came in from running some errands. Had the Sirius NHL channel on. At the beginning of the Boomer & Hahn show, they spent the first 1/2 hour discussing the Sabres. Jim "Boomer" Gordon absolutely destroyed the "organization". Called them toxic multiple times, said the whole thing needs to be stripped bare, questioned why Kim Pegula can make regular media appearances regarding the Bills on the NFLN and other media outlets, but her and Terry are nowhere to be found to talk about the Sabres, said changing the HC or some players will make no difference, said it is his job to follow and comment on hockey and rarely gets angry, but the Sabres organization makes him angry, etc... And a common theme over listening to the station on and off over the last 2 hours...everyone feels bad for the Sabres fanbase....of course except Kim who feels they know more than we do. I came back home and the whole situation just pisses me off.
  10. Byron would probably be an upgrade over Lazar or Eakin...maybe even Staal. ๐Ÿ˜ž
  11. If Leaman gets hired, it might be the final kick in the nuts for me. He is everything they shouldnโ€™t be looking for in the next HC.
  12. If they are part of any interview whether in person or remote, THEY ARE TOO INVOLVED. Sign off on the decision of your hockey FO(that is a whole different problem), and go back to drilling wells, building yachts, watching the kid play tennis, etc...
  13. I just want to say the OP may have the greatest username in the history of sabrespace. ๐Ÿ‘
  14. Win or lose, who cares. This team is a mess, and there is no cleaning it up in-season.
  15. Despite the last decade of futility from the Pegula led Sabres, the Canucks fans still get the short end of the stick. The Canucks have made it past the 2nd round 4 times in 50 years. The Sabres have made it past the 2nd round 6 times. Canucks 3 Finals losses. Sabres 2 Finals losses. Sabres missed the playoffs 20 times. Canucks missed the playoffs 21 times. At least we got Perreault and they ended up with Tallon. The gap has definitely been closed in the last decade. Bottom line...both fanbases deserve better. 100+ years of combined hockey and not a single Cup between them. PS I may sign-up for the Athletic just to read the article. ๐Ÿ˜ž
  16. All the way from Cashman to O'Reilly to Milbury to Jonathan to Shoebottom to Chara...and everyone in between. F*** all of them. I feel better now.๐Ÿ˜‚ The only Bruin who gets a pass is Bobby Orr.
  17. Thanks. Screw Espo, never cared for him on the Bruins or Rangers.
  18. When Gretzky broke the record at the Aud, was that the single season record, or was that when he also passed Espo?
