Pretty much. This franchise isn't going anywhere until it receives an enema. Gut everything. Front office, coaching staff, scouting department, all of them. Then bring in somebody who knows how to actually build a functional hockey team and sell off redundant/useless players to the highest bidder. None of this will happen though, because this is not a serious hockey organization.

You put even an average defense in front of UPL and he's probably in the top third of the league stats-wise. How many times do we see guys just allowed to unload from the slot with little resistance or a gaffe up ice lead to an odd man rush? This team is has horrible discipline and an even lower hockey IQ and the poor guy in net pays for it.

I wish the coaches would study Edmonton's power play. The way they scheme to get their weapons shots. Everything they do seems to be with a purpose. We always look so disorganized.

Lot of these guys are like that. We are really weak against the boards. Benson tries his ass off, but he usually gets out muscled. Just another flaw on Adams's roster construction.

I mean the obvious reason is for a higher draft pick where you would presumably get a better prospect. But this team is loaded to the gills with prospects. What this team needs to learn how to do is WIN, so I don't see how tanking is more beneficial to this roster than learning how to actually close out games.

They won't extend or re-sign him. Can't have him blocking the kids next year. Because the keys to an endless "rebuild" is to continuosly to stock the roster with young guys.

I think it's a function of their overall play with a lead. They don't attack, they don't forecheck. They go into a shell and chase the opposition around. Hard to get possession to get off a shot when you aren't trying to.

UPL was able to steal them a game is what it boils down to. That was basically 20 minutes of Alamo Mode in the 3rd. Did they even have one meaningful possession sequence in the Canes zones during the 3rd period? I cannot recall one. No SOG for a whole period is pathetic. Whole team was on their heels during the third. Fortunately UPL was able to make some outstanding saves to preserve the W. That kind of period does not end favorably way more often than it does. This is one of this team's major problems. They do not know how to win. They get a lead, tense up, and go into protection mode...which they aren't good at. Instead of continuing to play the way that got them the lead, they go into a shell. You can see it in their faces and body language...they're just waiting for something bad to happen. If buttoning up when they have a lead is a Lindy strategy, then that's alarming. If it's psychological with the players, it's up to Lindy to fix it.

Always nice to beat a good team, but could they please hire a sports psychologist to teach these guys how to not ***** pucker with a lead?
