You are objectively correct: Meatballs - .495 Pts% Lindy - .435 Pts% Plus, all that youth Grenato had is now older/more experienced. There is no data-based argument you can make that this team is better under Lindy. In fact, they're significantly worse by most any data point. I'm not arguing they should have kept Meatballs around by any stretch, but it's pretty clear hiring Lindy to coach this bunch has been a failure. They are a worse team than any of the previous two seasons by a decent margin and most everybody on this roster has either plateaued or regressed. Part of that might be the lousy coaching staff they saddled him with, but Lindy should have had the gumption to insist on his own staff. Not a bunch of retreads and their former AHL coach. Just like most everything else Adams has done, hiring Lindy was the lazy/easy move. He thought Lindy would ride in on a wave of nostalgia and whip these guys into shape. It was a dumb move. Should have tried to get Berube or Eveson. Can't say for sure either of those guys would have taken the job, but they should have made an actual effort.

My 2 cents: A good chunk of it is the coach, but a whole helluva lot isn't. And that's not to say Lindy is a bad coach, he's just not the right coach for this bunch. There is zero improvement, and in fact there's regression, across a huge majority of this roster. Whatever he's selling, they ain't buying. If you have a great coach, I'd say you keep him and fix the roster. Thing is, Lindy's track record since he was fired the first time is very spotty. Lindy is a good coach, he's not a great coach. There are fatal flaws on this roster, but I don't think Lindy is the answer behind the bench either...never did. And it isn't Seth *****' Appert either.

I've said for some time I don't expect them to move on from KA after this season, even though objectively there is zero reason to bring him back for another season. I suspect one of two things is at play - 1) Terry doesn't care enough to make a move or 2) KA is really good at convincing an incredibly gullible Terry that his "plan" just needs more time...yada, yada, yada youngest team in the league. Neither are appealing, but possibility 2 is absurd. I don't care what the average age of this roster is; this core is going on their third to fourth year playing together. Youth is a tired excuse when you get to that point. And if you want to sell the "youth" excuse, you better damn well have some empirical data showing that things are trending upward. They're not. This team has gotten WORSE each of the last two seasons with largely the same bunch. No serious hockey (or any sport) organization would allow a GM who is so clearly failing to move the franchise forward continue. But, again, this is not a serious hockey organization so here we are.
