GDT: Vegas @ Dallas 8:30 EDT - The Last Breath
HumanSlinky39 replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
God, I hate Dallas. Useless shitgibbons. -
Oilers just spanked the Pens 5-1 in Pittsburgh. Edmonton has been a totally different team under Woodcroft. Will be interesting to see if that carries over into the postseason.
-
Scouts said the Dominator lacked size, fundamentals and was too unorthodox. No, I'm not saying Levi is going to be Hasek. I'm saying scouts are wrong about goaltenders all the time. Hardest position to project to the NHL. I've never been high on Portillo, but I'm an even worse prognosticator the the scouts.

Two months ago, I'd have been all aboard trading Mitts. Now not so much. He's not putting stats up in the boxscore, but he's been doing all of that stuff that doesn't show up on the stats sheets that good teams have unsung guys doing. Mitts has been our best guy on the boards the last couple of months, IMO.
-
If Jack was still on the team we would have still struggled and would have never come out of that nosedive we were in before the AS break. Jack would've been sulking and brought the whole team down with him.
-
His best season ppg wise was the COVID shortened 2019-20 season when he was pacing 94 pts in a full 82 game season. Not gonna sour grape it, Jack is a very talented hockey player who was stuck on bad teams. But, at best I'd have him (when healthy) as a fringe top-10 player, which is still VERY good. But I don't see him anywhere near the same league as McDavid, Draisaitl, Matthews, Huberdeau and those types. I'd argue Calgary Tkachuk and Kaprizov are better. If we're not limiting it to Forwards, hell, Makar, Josi and Fox are better players IMO. Maybe we just haven't seen enough of Jack healthy, but that's part of the knock against him. On top of the that, I don't think it's a coincidence that the Sabres have begun to show signs of life and rapidly brewing chemistry in the locker room has happened when Jack was dealt. The guy seems like a chronic malcontent who doesn't have an ounce of leadership in his body and is allergic to accountability. Very talented guy, but on the whole I just don't think he's a guy that improves a team in the aggregate when he's on it. Pairing him with a shitbird like Lehner might've been an inadvertent act of hare kari by Vegas.

I'd be fine with either Edmonton or the Wild out of the west. The east...oof. Nobody. The Panthers are the underdog story (by underdog I mean haven't won a playoff series in 25 friggin years), but I can't stomach the thought of another fair weather Florida fanbase winning a title. Colorado's probably the best team, but they feel like a team that gets knocked out in the semis to me. Gut tells me Tampa wins again, but I hope not.
-
Wow, Kulikov buries the winner for the Wild with 2 seconds left in OT. Great game.
-
Nashville gets a point going into OT against the Wild...another blow to Vegas.
-
San Jose-VGK knotted at 1 after a period. I'd love to see Vegas bleed out tonight, but I have little faith in the Sharks to take care of business.

Same here. VGK have been hammered by injuries this year, so obviously that's impacted them this season, but the long term prognosis is kind of grim. They have an aging core, are salary cap strapped and don't have much of a prospect pool. I always kinda thought them grabbing Eichel was a Hail Mary for this season; turns out it likely is a whiff. Pretty good chance Jack is in on the ground floor of another rebuild.
-
Eichel is on a ~57 point pace over an 82 game season. Yes, some time is expected to shake off the rust, but he's not getting there. He has 2 points in his last 5 games and zilch in his last 3 when they REALLY need him to be producing. I've been saying it for a while now, VGK are going to end up with a serious case of buyer's remorse...especially when he starts sulking as the team around him still isn't enough to get anywhere. Hate to see it.

Or, you know, licks them.

This team has been so much fun to watch over the last couple of months. I really don't want this season to end which is a bizarre feeling. -
Tied up now.
