Are you thinking an ascending Swayman will be a difference maker, or Linus staying healthy and exceeding his career .913 clip? I’m not confident in either.

Trading For the Curious Case of Jason Robertson
Porous Five Hole replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Man, I dunno. I think the trade is fair if you could make the dollars work. But Tage represents paying the homegrown guy and is looked at as cornerstone player. While Robertson may also be a cornerstone, do you risk the “grow your own” mentality here? I don’t think GMKA would be willing to. Plus Tage is slated to play center and JR is a winger. That also means a lot. -
I think everything stated above is fair. I know gambling odds don’t work like this, but if 2022-23 is played 55 times…is anyone asserting that the Sabres win the Cup one in 55 times? Probably not. I think Buffalo can surprise the division rankings and outpace Ottawa & Boston with decent goaltending, and Quinn/Power will both deliver on the top ten rookie billing. I also have hopes that Tage will be a top 50 NHL’er by season’s end. I hope I’m right and I surmise that the future is bright 😎

https://www.tsn.ca/dallas-stars-rfa-jason-robertson-negotiations-1.1858103?tsn-amp No deal close. So what is the framework for a trade to Dallas for a 23 year old 40 goal scorer coming off his ELC? Not sure there are many test cases to rely upon. Is it the equivalent of three first round assets? Or more? Would the Sabres have traded all three first round picks in 2022 to guarantee a 40 goal scorer by age 23? Probably?? The Stars cap situation has to play a role here. They simply cannot fit Robertson’s market-value AAV against their current cap. Does that depress the offer? Probably?? The Stars cap constraints means packaging Mitts and another roster player (Victor Olofsson) impossible without taking money back. You have to factor in that the Stars have vets and can be considered a win-now team. But how can they realistically be in win-now mode by trading a 40 goal scorer? Tough spot. If Robertson told you I need 8M AAV and you’re resigned to trading him because you can’t afford it…what’s the package you’re willing to accept from the Stars perspective? The season starts in a week. Would you really let him sit out? Also important to note that many teams simply cannot afford his AAV without sending money out…and Dallas cannot accept much money in. So that is impactful to any offer on the table. Thoughts?

Deebo is something special.

A touchdown from garoppolo to deebo is what the doctor is ordering tonight. Gotta catch @Norcal!

So I can get behind this. Who do you think is being disingenuous here? The team? The consultant? Both? Where does the player fit in here? I am skeptical that every check and balance was ignored, but I don’t know that I’m correct.
-
You’re being obtuse so I’ll let you be, but it clearly says they checked him for concussion symptoms every day.
-
Sorry, but you are incorrect https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10050795-tua-tagovailoa-was-checked-for-concussion-every-day-says-nfl-chief-medical-officer.amp.html

I think it’s silly to celebrate after every round of the playoffs like they do in MLB, but baseball is such long season that this doesn’t bother me.

Did you know that Tua passed a neurological exam each day from Sunday leading up to TNF? I'm not defending anyone. But with that in mind, that’s a whole lot of lying by the player, the team’s doctor(s), and the unaffiliated neurological consultant. It sure appeared that Tua had a head injury against Buffalo, but none of us know that for a fact.
-
Ok but the context is the player was taken out immobilized on a stretcher. It could have been much worse. I don’t read him (or heard him) being trivial at all. Whatever. Either way, squish the fish.

That’s not what he said "All of his teammates, myself, we're all very concerned. The best news we can give is that everything is checked out that he didn't have anything more serious than a concussion.” transcript: https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/lists/mike-mcdaniel-tua-tagovailoa-concussion/

I bet Meatballs is just as compelling, but without all the curse words. I like DG’s style better in that way.

Well that’ll knock the off-season rust off a guy.

GDT: Preseason Game 1: Buffalo at Washington, 2pm
Porous Five Hole replied to Marvin's topic in The Aud Club
Dunleavy doing tv PBP on the radio is nothing new for him. It’s also been that way with RJ for many, many years. Things may have changed, but the Sabres were literally the only NHL franchise prior to Covid to have one PBP team for both tv and radio. And it stinks. -

I got concerned about hitching my ride to the Browns with the trio of Chubb, Cooper, and Njoku…only went with Cooper and Chubb. My mistake. All of them scored tonight. Still an uphill battle for @North Buffalo!

Yes, this is true. But the root of my complaint is how the for-profit entities of experian, equifax, and transunion are not consumer-centric. Why is consumer credit in the hands of money making operations? What happens when there’s a data breach (equifax breached almost half of the US adult population—thanks for the no cost to you credit monitoring for 12 months)? Where is the accountability? Nothing but headaches for the consumers. Why isn’t next-level credit authorization/verification the standard operating procedure? Why should it cost consumers their own money for FICO models ($63 a pop in the mortgage game)? Imagine being a less informed consumer like the majority of the US? I’m all for personal accountability, but the education around credit is so limited that it impacts the least affluent the most.

It’s because the credit industry is a for-profit enterprise. That would be expensive and time consuming to roll out for 300 million people. But you ask a great question. It’s time that the credit industry gets regulated.

Sabres Latest Embedded Episode Building the Pipeline
Porous Five Hole replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I love the Embedded series and I hope the Sabres continue to churn out episodes. With that said, am I really supposed to believe that Comrie & Lyubushkin were their primary intended targets all along?? That just seems pretty far-fetched.
