I hope you’re right. I think the plan was Reimer & Sandstrom with Houser as a just in case guy for Rochester. Hopefully the Amerks can outscore their problems, but either way…i think the organization needs another guy.

Disclaimer I haven’t seen a game yet this season, but I’ve seen a ton of Amerks hockey the last three years. Rosen has nhl speed and good hands. His edges are great and his shot is good enough. He has put on weight, but his frame may hold him back. I think if you want some offensive flash in a bottom six role, he can do it. He’s had good coaching since he arrived to North American & he’s performed well in the AHL playoffs as a smaller guy. Fully developed, he’s probably not a top six forward…but I think he will get some time in the show. He’s still very young. He definitely has more offensive upside than say a guy like Rousek, but it’s tough to say he will be a reliable nhl’er for a decade.

Rochester Goalie Felix Sandstrom got charged (5 and a game to the Hartford guy) and had to leave the game with help off the ice. This organization is now dangerously thin in the crease. -UPL & Levi in Buffalo -Houser in ROC -And in the East Coast league, some dudes named Justen Close & Matt Vernon. -Non NHL rostered: Now injured Sandstrom and 19 year old Ratzlaff. -Unsigned draft picks: Leinonen 😬& 18 year old Leeanders Obviously hope for the best for Sandstrom, but Rochester has an immediate need and if a Sabres goalie needs a maintenance day…look out. Maybe Reimer gets waived soon? Please Buffalo & Karmanos don’t compromise the Amerks season with crappy goaltending the rest of the year (Houser is fine, but he is not an all-star nor a bell cow guy). The team looks very good everywhere else!

I am open to an add to the top six, but not at the cost of our current NHL D Depth. We’ve got loads of first round pedigree prospects that a rebuilding team could desire. It’s a long season. Injuries are going to happen. If the Sabres stay healthy, then Henri at the deadline to get something for a UFA departing asset.

I don’t think the Sabres can do that unless they sign Houser to an NHL deal. He’s currently on an AHL deal. So he could only be an emergency recall.

I think your analysis is perfect. People want more from Greenway, but this is what he can provide. He’s a grown man and we don’t have a lot of those. He was very effective.

It was the most logical outcome once Benny is ready, and I also like it. He was fine in Buffalo and he knows he’s the first call up if he responds the right way and produces here in ROC. The ahl game will feel slow now that he has nhl experience.

I’m really struggling with how I want the words of this post to come out. It is mostly from the aspect that anger and sadness has turned into a daily social norm here; and this is social media. The results stink and the games stink, so this can be a stinky place to be. Not because of you or I, but because what we share together really stinks. And here I am, my friend. Taking solace in the fact that I am not the only one who gives a crap about this franchise. Punch, you mention a lot of good hockey talk has moved on and you’re right. And what has replaced that is people airing their frustrations ad nauseam. Please understand, I’m not accusing any individual of that. But it is hard to read….Even if it’s true. I’m not asking for positivity and I’m not here to defend this team. I just want to watch them win and enjoy the ride with passionate Sabres fans. But no one is happy here. And it isn’t our fault.

They are off to their worst start since 2017 (a season where they finished in last place). Im not expecting that to repeat itself, but it puts a rather bleak outlook on this team being anywhere close to playoff caliber.

Please don’t misunderstand. I’m not trying to shill for the team…but to blame the GM for signing a a guy who is good enough to get claimed on waivers isn’t bad GM’ing. What would you want instead? Someone worse? BTW, Reimer is an .864 in his two starts for the Ducks.
