  1. This is wild. Sway just called them a liar. Normally I would say the team has to blink first and sign the guy for his ask, but now the B’s have a professional reputation to uphold—all while the goalie now cannot sign for 8X8 because otherwise he looks bad for not signing for that in first place (based on Neely’s quote). This is a mess for everyone involved. I love it lol
  2. I don’t agree. Josh was on the run a lot because he didn’t have any open receivers to throw to (especially when the Bills were down three scores and the route tree got further downfield). WR separation was a bigger problem than protection on obvious passing downs. The ball couldn’t come out on time so Josh had to deal with pressure.
  3. @PerreaultForever, you still sure Swayman isn’t looking for 10 mil a year? And how that was a “ridiculous” report?
  4. "If it was just me, I’d be in Rochester in training camp right now. But my kids trumped everything that I was deciding between.” After 244 games with the Rochester Americans Michael Mersch is calling it a career. https://pickinsplinters.com/2024/09/29/its-official-amerks-captain-mersch-to-announce-retirement/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3o1rPQ72Z9lvMjFTE3Ue06gsm9NMQBzTi2GtDh5yBjG_C9OQrCYfLiFRA_aem_aeNWxkDdycOXphDq0QOK_Q
  5. I took a quick peek at the league and man it seems like there are A LOT of injuries going around for the measly preseason. Laine, Doughty, Lindgren, Panarin, Reinbacher. Raymond and Tavares have missed games due to knee on knee incidents in the preseason and Dahlin had a scare. Thank goodness the Sabres are done with exhibitions/pre-season (I think).
  6. The Lehner saga takes another turn. https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/goldenknights/robin-lehner-assets-frozen-amid-allegations-of-frivolous-spending-3178446/ “A filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas by attorneys representing creditor Aliya Growth Fund claims the company is worried it won’t receive the nearly $4.8 million Lehner and his wife, Donya Lehner, owe it because they have been transferring money from their bank accounts to non-creditors, including shell companies with apparent Dubai ties. The filing also claims the Lehners spent $1.5 million on gambling, vacations and luxury purchases following the couple’s bankruptcy filing in December 2022.”
  7. @SDS, we have a clown shoes problem. He cannot be bothered to update his QB despite being injured in week one (Love). It appears the team has abandoned already Bye weeks are coming soon. What can be done?
  8. I think after his extension, Cozens believed he needed to be a goal scorer to “earn” his contract. But I don’t want him to think that is his role. I want him to understand his role is “Captain Canada,” and doing all the little things to help this team win. I want him to win the important face off, or be the most defensively responsible at the end of a game, or kill the big PK, and chip in offensively. If he can grasp the jack of all trades and master of none, this team will be far better off than relying on him “being paid to score goals.” I need an all situations guy and not someone who is trying to pump 40. End of story.
  9. I’m not in any way disagreeing with anything you said. Specific to the agencies, you’re 100% correct. However, I want to provide context as to why Fannie & Freddie exist. There are two reasons why a bank (or credit union) would prefer to hand out Fannie/Freddie money instead of their own. 1) Liquidity. This is oversimplifying, but there are stress tests for lenders. The example I would give is that a bank would need to have a dollar on deposit for every dollar they lend out. That is not the actual stress test, but it is a common sense approach. They have to stay solvent. So, what happens when the bank lends out all their available funds? They stop lending. The consumer demand for mortgages far outweighs the money banks have to lend. So they utilize Fannie/Freddie’s funds to support consumer lending needs. That’s why they exist today. 2) If the lender conforms to Fannie/Freddie’s qualification guidelines, Fannie/Freddie will help offset the bank’s losses if a loan goes bad. And why wouldn’t a lender want that? So we use them for a good reason. I won’t get into the financial crisis and the Fed bailout of these agencies which contribute to your opinion, but they serve a valuable purpose for borrowers and lenders. Just like FHA, VA, USDA, and state housing initiatives (including SONYMA in NY).
  10. Mortgage is my industry. Mortgage pricing (specifically conventional Fannie/Freddie mortgages) still favor higher FICO scores for net pricing. When pricing a mortgage, you have a base rate. Let’s say 6.00% and no points. That’s gross pricing. From there, you will then apply the conforming (fancy way to say conventional) pricing adjustments to get a net pricing. Let’s roll with a purchase loan as the example and you apply for a 30 year fixed loan. The biggest adjustment (add-on) to cost is your combination of FICO & loan to value (LTV). I’ll use 25% down (75 LTV) as our test case. 75 LTV & 780 FICO, the additional points charge is 0.00 points. Nada. Net pricing is 6.00% rate and 0 points. 75 LTV & 720 FICO, the additional points charge is .750 points. Net pricing is 6.00% rate and .750 points. For a reader who might not know, this means an additional charge of .750% of your loan amount. For a 100,000 loan, this corresponds to $750 in extra closing cost. 75 LTV & 660 FICO, the additional points charge is 1.375 points. For a 100,000 loan, this corresponds to $1,375 in extra closing cost. The above is an overly simplistic example of pricing, but long story short…A higher FICO will always mean cheaper cost. That’s across the board for all loan programs (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, etc).
  11. A good man. A good representative of the community. I know he will have to wear the results of this team’s failure to make the playoffs with the fan base, but I would welcome him into the building anytime he wants to come.
  12. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember a player vote the year Rivet was made captain.
  13. OMG you’re right
  14. From GMKA’s press conference on the Peyton Kreb’s signing: ::laughs at the question:: ”I don’t think it needed to take this long (to sign). You’ll have to ask his guys why it did.”
  15. Whoever Clown Shoes is, do you think you can update your quarterback? It’s week freakin two…not that hard to follow along.
  16. I have friends in the building. The Amerks facilities are fine and they max spend on veteran roster spots every year. The fact that Terry couldn’t make money running the building does not mean anything for the organization. Are you sure about the Hawks? There were rumors of a sale or relocation (Terry doesn’t need two lacrosse teams), but those were just reports back in April and nothing since.
  17. While it is true that the team extended a QO to preserve the team’s rights to the player, it doesn’t mean they can’t hammer out a longer term deal. They gave Malenstyn a QO, but eventually signed him to a two year deal. I would be stunned if Krebs was arrogant enough to not sign his QO.
  18. The Sabres gave him a qualifying offer, so the fact that Krebs hasn’t signed it indicates he isn’t happy with either the one year term or the minuscule raise it offers. I imagine he will eventually sign it and be on the ice for day one of camp.
  19. If she wins this thing, I bet she will make an appearance tomorrow at the home opener with her trophy. That would be really cool. Fire up the Pegula jet!
  20. And if you’re curious which tequila, this is the best bottle I’ve found under $50 Cheers Salude Prost
  21. The selection of Power set the course and the timeline goes from there. Then the Dahlin extension. Then the acquisition of Byram. This is going to be the most expensive blue line in the league and I think that’s intentional. I’m not defending any of your GMKA critiques. I’m just pointing out blue line first. Literally no one is disputing any of that. This is exactly what I meant when I said they were “cornered.” You may have said it better as I was drinking tequila and listening to a podcast when I posted.
  22. I’ve said this before, but the trajectory of this team was defense-first when they were “cornered” into drafting D at #1 overall twice. It’s never happened before. So this team was going to be built differently than all others for that reason. Blue line first. It is why I don’t mind the Byram trade. Handedness aside (which I personally feel is overrated), getting the best top four D is always how this team was going to be built. You need to put some of your regular conventions aside with roster building to get inline with the Sabres current roster construction. This is Bryram dependent, but if KA is right and he is good (and if Power continues to progress)…the Sabres are going to be a menace to the nhl. Disagree button all you want, but I’m here for it.
  23. It was incredible!! I’ll be honest, I gave up and signed up for an online poker tourney at 10pm. My wife stuck with it and got rewarded with the tennis redemption of a lifetime. What an incredible turnaround! US Open final. WOW.
  24. Glad to hear it. I don’t have Russian tv so all I have are stats. His draft profile said quick feet and slick hands. And given that he was taken #33 overall, I anticipated more scoring so far.
