You are incredibly well respected by myself and all other posters here…could you please explain the “why” behind this concept? I realize we are all speculating, but help me understand the motivation of selling a stake in the franchise. Cuz some cash for funsies isn’t making sense to me. My opinion: Terry loves the Sabres and is not looking for an easy money equity cash out.

I just think it’s the wrong message to send when you’re asking for several hundred million dollars from surrounding municipalities for a football stadium.

While I’m not here to argue that point, the Pegulas have plenty of assets to collateralize, including the Sabres/Bills in the form of debt (especially if the funds are to be used for said franchise/football stadium, etc). And the stadium (or arena, I suppose) is the only thing that they could possibly need that kind of money. Even their mega-yacht only cost $75M. You think they want to cash out to buy another one? The potential fallout from selling a portion of the hockey team doesn’t make a ton of sense. Especially if a minority owner gets a voice/voting interest. Just not worth it to them.

I respect your take, but liquidity isn’t an issue for T Pegs. If your take is to not cross streams and the Sabres are cashing out to invest in the county owned Key Bank facility…I could make a case for that.

You guys…Terry is worth five billion dollars. This isn’t about cashing out 150 million via 20% sale. Also, throwing their commitment to the Sabres and the region out the window when asking for $700 million for a football stadium from the county and the state would be crazy. The Bills more than cover any Sabres losses.

To streamline the new analytics focus, Karmanos is promoted to GM. Kevyn promoted to President of Hockey Ops. Kim no longer carries a designation within the Sabres organization and continues her role as CEO of Pegula Sports & Entertainment.

On Twitter, someone said, “the kid is all of 21 playing the hardest minutes on a bottom 5 NHL team with no goalies. Dahlin is not a problem. We need more Dahlins.” While he makes mistakes, I totally agree.

The only time that I can remember a non-tank season where they needed five goalies was 1995-96. Biron record was 0-2 Blue record was 2-2 Hasek was 22-30-6 Shields was 1-0 Trefilov was 8-8-1 But even then, that hardly compares. All of those guys were NHL level or NHL level prospects. This is nuts.

Sorry for going off script, but one of my favorite names played eight games in ROC during the 87-88 season. That would be Cleon Daskalakis.

While I’m just some jag off watching the games on tv, I’m totally fine with interference by a teammate when defenseman are retrieving the puck in their own zone below the goal line. Interference by a teammate gives them time to not get murdered by a forechecker bearing down on them. But anything in the neutral zone or above the goal line in the offensive zone needs to be called. NHL officiating is awful.

this used to be a mainstay of Sabres broadcasts in the late 2000’s and I hated it.

Ever notice the Ken’s Blue Cheese you get at restaurants and pizza shops is called, “Buffalo NY Style?” I absolutely love it and it is far superior to the stuff you can get at the grocery store. I think the retail option is just Ken’s Chunky Blue Cheese, or something like that. Anyway my wife worked with a local restaurant to get the good stuff from their supply chain. So now I have a gallon of great tasting blue cheese! Thanks Santa.

I hope the Bills go to remote meetings and keep everyone at home or as distant as possible for the next two weeks. The Bills are favored by two TD’s this Sunday….let’s minimize any potential Covid issues like a bunch of teams are dealing with and keep everyone on Zoom. Also, the Car Panthers got sent home today…so I don’t think it is crazy to be proactive.

While this makes perfect sense, couldn’t it also make perfect sense that this is a needed reset and ownership is in it for the long haul with maximum flexibility moving forward?

For the home opener, I paid $34 X 3 for lower bowl blue line on game day. And that was at the window, so no ticketmonster fees. I was very surprised at how expensive it was. I guess a mini pack might have made sense, but I have to imagine $104 for three tickets alone cools interest in a casual fan attending. It is a savings versus attending Key Bank Center, but most Rochester fans don’t care about that.

There’s just no way Dell should start again. I’m not saying development be damned for a Sabres potential win, but I think UPL’s development would not be stunted by a spot start on a back to back. The next back to back is a week from today. I hope UPL gets that game.
