Too hard to score in today's game with Goalies being so good and offensive creativity being choked off. That's why I'd pick the two C's. I can see the other side of the coin though.

So if you could have : 1) Malkin and Crosby 2) Either Malkin or Crosby and Weber Which would you pick? I'd take choice # 1 every time.

Weber is an elite player, but I wouldn't give up that much for him, so Weber no....Stamkos, Malkin, Crosby, yes.....Elite Center is far more valuable than a D of the same caliber IMO.

1. Only a once in a generation player like a Lemieux or Gretzky is worth that kind of compensation. 2. Why would Darcy or any GM want to tick off another potential dance partner. 3. Especially wouldn't do it since the Poile/Regier relationship is a good one that already yielded the Sabres Girgensons in the Gaustad robbery of a deal.

Maybe we'll get some Hockey Trade Fireworks on the 4th of July if the two big UFAs decide today.

You may indeed be correct, but players like Lucic are a rarity. Sabres had to do something to address the perception/reality that they can be pushed around with little or no response. Wish they had pursued Prust too.

On too many nights there were lots of passengers on the Sabres in the past couple of years with Brad Boyes being exhibit A. May as well have an enforcer with a specifically defined role to deter Lucic and others. We'll see how it turns out.

Scott's presence should create room for the skilled players and prevent opponents (ala Lucic) from taking liberties.

Perhaps they'll move some of the pipeline assets along with the two 1st round 2012 picks to move up into the top of the draft.

The real question is what to do about Sulzer after this year given his upcoming UFA status. We have Mcnabb, Pysik, Brennan, Schiestel, and Gauthier-Leduc in the pipeline.
