  1. Don't really care if Eichel or Reinhart wins. However, if Eichel is kissing the cup, it's gonna cause mass panic in Edmonton this summer. We certainly didn't lose it when Eichel was traded, we knew it had to be done. Now imagine if your team with the best player (and the 2nd best player also) who hasn't even come close to winning or sniffing the cup, sees Eichel go from a what could be termed as a no win situation in Buffalo, to a Cup. Yikes, at least Gretzky won cups before he forced his way of Edmonton. I for one, could the see the Canadian media going into all sorts of conniptions over this.😃
  2. I tried both. But went back to Spectrum because of MSG... (I really didn't at the time like watching the Sabres suck... and well they did suck)... It costs a lot more but I'm back into watching the Sabres. I get the Sports package on Spectrum which gets me all the ESPN channels and their associated college networks... Golf Channel (which every December... in the midst of darkness and lack of warmth, I love seeing the beautiful weather of South Africa or Australia)...NHL Network which shows games. I also get the Spectrum Entertainment package, because at my age, I find myself watching old MTV videos and TV shows from my youth... I also get ESPN+which allows me to watch the CFL... My phone is also Spectrum and now I'm thinking as I write this I might be a shill for Spectrum!!! Hah!!!.. No shill, but I guess at age, cable is my comfort zone... Damn kids with their newfangled streaming things...
  3. Philly is going to be a hot mess tearing everything down... which they should (although... Buffalo being the poster boy for hot messes... ) Hart is only worth a 3rd and a middling prospect or an Olfosson that will play for Philly through the rebuild... The Flyers are going to bad through the next 3 seasons....
  4. I don't know going all in on an outside goalie is the end all for the drought. I have to look at Jack Campbell in Edmonton as a warning. Campbell didn't cost Edmonton drat picks, prospects... but they spent some serious cash against the cap. He certainly wasn't worth 5 year/5 Million AVG this year. That contract will also drag on Edmonton as they are hard up against the cap. Bobrovsky wasn't playing the down the stretch in the Panthers late season run to make the playoffs. Adin Hill was 4th on the depth chart in Vegas. Far better to get a top 4 defenseman if you're considering giving up assets. The Sabres can absorb giving up 2 to 3 goals a game, giving the their offensive talent... it is the top 4 defensmen that are going to make the difference in wins and losses in my opinion.
  5. Quite a pedigree on the defense... 3 first rounders (2 at number 1) and a 2nd... if we are penciling in our top 4 defensemen, next year or the year after... This team is setting up to be a dynasty if they can figure it out... Sunny days ahead....
  6. Agreed... but then again he'll always have that gambling cloud. Vanek will never get a "I make a decision" based job in the NHL, too toxic... He may want to go the Mays/Mantle route and represent Seneca Buffalo Creek as a hobknobber and greeter, because that is probably as close to a job at KBC as he's going to get... Or , maybe there will be a European remake of 'Blazing Saddles' and he could play 'Mongo' like his fellow athlete who had a gambling cloud.... Alex Karras...
  7. I have no problem with Levi/UPL combo next year... It's bringing in a top 4 defenseman, that will define the season going forward. For all the wringing of hands about goalies... we need another Muel to compliment our Dahlin/Power... the top 4 will average if (and a big if, giving injuries) 45 - 50 minutes a game... The weakness of this decade long rebuild seems to always be centered on goaltending, and honestly there's validity to the quality of goalies that were here, but our defensemen have been horrid in this stretch and the offense did them no favors... I can envision a Ullmark/Strayman in our goalies if we get that 4th defenseman...
  8. I ate paste as a kid.... my go to was Elmers'... peeling it off my hands... no dipping sauce like blue cheese, just paste... yum... Elmer's.... then years on I got a tat of the "fierce black mallard... noblest of all beasts".... only to find out the mallard was in fact a drake.... I'm embracing the nonsensical post and the replies.... but please what I can't accept is that Ginger got more tail than Mary Ann... Mary Ann was deceptive and probably funner to be around.... Mods... may close this reply... but.... I'm laughing now...
  9. Again... I love this game... The heart is there...
  10. I love this game... Levi is the starter next year.. Joki and Stillman are playing above their pay grade and Dahlin is the silent leader that reminds me of Lindstrom... TNT is obviously hurt and the 'Canes are taking out Cozens.. Guess we have seen the end VO time here.... Am I missing anything?
  11. I'm the red headed kid at the sides of the stand at the end of the video... My Uncle owned sections of seats for his restaurants...
  12. I'm the the red headed kiddo in that scene in the stands at the Aud... I never forget that game... Funny story... My cousin and I would leave every game at the 10 minute mark of the 3rd period so we we could pull all of the parking tickets from cars right up to Niagara Street... Hey we were young 8 years old... but I have to admit... it was not the best thing to do...
  13. Well you could call them the Card Line (as in show me your i.d. kid) giving 1 is 20 years old and the other 2 are 21.
  14. Yeesh... I don't like that this post has has been resurrected.. Fair points as an officer of an organization receiving public money (Bills Stadium) there should be some disclosure as to her health. However, as someone who has suffered a brain attack and 4 years on still has a problem speaking, I have to respect the family's desire to keep it private, whatever may have happened... I can't describe how frustrating it is try spit out words that your brain is telling you to do like you've been doing for the past 53 years and you're gulping for air and trying not to sound like an imbecile while being exhausted trying to say 6 words yet you can post on here like an Irish poet... Not that she has this problem, but I went to rehab for 2 years before it was determined it was the best it would be. I'm lucky that speech is my only major problem. Best wishes to Kim... time is on your side
  15. I'd offer FLA's 2022 first pick which we own... rights to Ryan Johnson... and Portillo for Kane... perhaps Philly's 2023 2nd round as a sweetner... Toews contract 10.5 million is unmovable... Kane is off the books at 10.5 million which would give the Hawks extra cap space after spending stupid money on Jones along with giving up picks in that belied the rebuild that is coming... does Kane fit culture and would he stay on a new contract... don't know, but the Sabres have thrown cash (spaghetti) against the wall many times... it may worth trying it with Kane
  16. That would be Jacques Richard... noted cocaine smuggler... died in a one car accident like Horton. Paul Cyr when I hear his name I associate him getting stabbed in the Caribbean rather than any hockey highlights. He died at a young age too from heart failure. Jeff Parker also died relatively young from heart infection.
  17. I don't know but I keep hearing UBL on the Sabres Bruins telecast
  18. I have to think that the Sabres may end up being the ultimate expansion franchise team 51 years on... If there is player movement of veterans this year, the Sabres will literally have no cast offs from other teams... A team that may average 23 years... The potential to bring in 12 players under 22..
  19. Boychuk - This is all about moving more players this year, if you're a veteran I have no doubt that GMKA has talked about the possible movement of you from the Sabres by the deadline. The Sabres were cap floor compliant this morning after the trade. When Tuch comes off IR his cap number is already spoken for... this deal means more Sabres are in play as the season goes... This is literally giving the keys to the kids... I was kid in the Sabres first year, my parents had season tickets. Donnie Marshall, Phil Goyette, Floyd Smith and Roger Crozier were in the lineup... the Sabres are better off if they can hit on some these prospects... Granted no Perreault, but if this works the Sabres with all the young talent should compete for years or not
  20. Is Olofosson a 5,000,000 player 2 years from now... He may be, but in honesty I don't see a position for him in 2 years with the prospects... It could burn the Sabres but his contract could be 3 young players going forward 2 years fromnow
  21. I like this trade... Sabres lose a $10,000,000 contract. Buffalo will always have to pay extra because of the a lot a things, especially since it's been a decade since this team mattered. GMKA, was clear that trading with some salary retention was a non-starter... He said the team needs flexibility going forward to the future, I think at the trade deadline, that the possibility of retention money could be in play. Girgensons may be moved and if we retain salary it may yield a higher (possible 3rd round)... Skinner isn't going anywhere unless there is desperate GM who's job depends on some playoff success. Speaking for myself... I think maybe moving Olofsson could possibly garner the team a 2nd rounder... Honestly... this team should compete at the latest 23-24. The prospect pool they have and will have is incredible... I'm talking the Habs prospects 50 years ago
  22. It sounds like Adams has someone in mind that can steady the Sabres ship... Wait for it... wait...
  23. So I'm thinking this is how it went down when Jack told Fish he was done: (From the Urban Dictionary) To pull a Jack is to s*** on the top of a car then sit in it. Then hold your legs straight up as high up as they can go. Then to grab your toes. Then slide down the windshield screaming "AARRMAAGGEEDDOONN!!!!". Jack was no longer Happy Jack
