  1. The kid has certainly done well for himself. I know Montreal really likes Suzuki. His success seems to be why Vegas does not want to trade Krebs (so that they don't lose a good prospect again). I think it may have been smarter to wait on this season's results before signing him to a long term deal but I suppose they were worried about the price going up if he has a great year.
  2. This is bizarre. I figured if we needed to pick someone this season as a captain it would be Kyle Okposo. I think it's a big mistake to give it to any of the younger players right now but maybe a rotating C like we did in the past would be okay (but it's a bit of a gimmick to me if that's the plan).
  3. Yes I agree. Sorry my comments meant that we will know a little bit more after the first few games (5-10) because the preseason did not shed much light for me.
  4. That's not surprising. Most of the Sabre fan base seems to agree. No one expects a great year but there are quite a few that expect the Sabres to be better than last place this year. I really don't know what to expect after the preseason. Granato did not really play any line combination consistently. Mittelstadt's line looks set I guess. The power play is what concerns me the most as it has not looked good at all and considering how many goals are scored with the man advantage that will really determine our fate. We will know more after the first 5-10 regular season games are played.
  5. Yes I like that mix better. I imagine that we'll see many combos this season.
  6. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/canadiens-nick-suzuki-agree-eight-year-63-million-extension/ Montreal signs Nick Suzuki long term. eight-year, $63 million contract extension with an average annual value of $7.875 million.
  7. I see that Marco Rossi was sent down to the AHL by Minnesota. Not a big deal as I'm sure he'll be back up soon but thought it might be of interest.
  8. Yes I agree. I could see the right side wingers moving around in the lines still.
  9. easy come easy go. too bad we didn't get to see him play a couple of preseason games.
  10. so maybe they just need him to run the practice drills that Granato wants to run today.
  11. I thought Fitzgerald is still waiver exempt. I thought he was just sent to Rochester.
  12. I'd love to know the truth on that draft especially. I was convinced they were taking Chychrun once he fell to their spot and because the Pegulas knew his family and liked him.
  13. could be that today is the best day to put players on waivers and that they don't know enough about him yet. He might be a nice insurance guy for call up in Rochester
  14. Yes that's true. He's definitely been given the chances with the Sabres to show what he can do. This season too. He's being given a great opportunity. I hope that he stays healthy and keeps his confidence high. I thought it was strange to play him at center but I remembered that he was listed as a center when he was drafted. He hasn't looked bad at center but lets see how he fares in the regular season against better competition.
  15. Yes. But Zibanejad was most likely going to get close to that on the open market so the Rangers have little choice but to sign him to keep him now. Drury and Briere were bought out as well from their long term contracts. Maybe if they had got Eichel they would have tried to get him on a shorter term or let him go.
  16. I believe he suggesting that he'll become a good player for us when he grows to 7' tall. 😏
  17. Yes for sure. We drafted him as a generational player but I don't really think we saw him play at his highest level consistently. Some games for sure but I don't think he hit his ceiling with the Sabres.
  18. Interesting to hear Granato plans on keeping Tage at center to start the season.
  19. How about a decisive win for our first time in this preseason? Full effort for 3 periods, 4 -1 win for the Sabres.
  20. I must have missed it by what's Oglevie out with?
  21. Yes I agree with you that Columbus is a team that really wants Eichel and in my opinion really needs a player like Eichel to resign Laine and help him reach his potential. That being said I really have had a hard time getting excited about their top prospects. I am still hoping to get back a top line potential center prospect.
  22. Really? Seems strange. Does every team have to schedule their own preseason games? I would have thought that the league would schedule preseason similar to the way they manage the regular season.
  23. Jack Eichel? Anyone want to take that bet right now? Seems unlikely to me.
  24. I would think the Sabres would leak that information if the surgery is not insurable just to help strengthen their condition.
  25. Is Eichel's surgery not insurable just like any other surgery option? I would think yes otherwise other NHL teams would not agree to it as an option either.
