I don’t think we “won” the trades. Just that it looks better than one might think when you consider the player we took with the pick.

Was talking about this last night. But if you look at who we got with those picks then the trades look even better. Eichel - Tuch, Krebs, Östlund Samson - Levi, Kulich

Why is he never thought of for the Selke?

Is a defender like Dobson worth that much? Especially with his contract situation?

Of course. But then you have to ask yourself, do you trust Adams to make that trade? I actually trust him to draft well. He, and his team, have hit recently. But we need 1-3 big trades to happen and I don’t trust this group to make the right decision.

While I’m not rooting for them to lose for a better draft pick, there’s one telling thing about your stance with this. You’re old and impatient. I get it. But having good drafts are important for the future of any good franchise. Especially one like ours where it’s difficult to sign free agents. Maybe once we become a perennial playoff team that’ll change, but until then, we need to build through the draft.

The boys are playing great hockey. We might have to start looking at players outside the top 10 if they keep playing this way.

And I actually think the Sabres have done a pretty good job in the draft the last couple of years. Especially in the 1st. I didn’t like the Power/Rosen draft. But after that they’ve drafted well.

He was 2-7 and allowing over 4 goals a game this year with the Sabres. I don’t think he’s ready yet. Leave him in Rochester again next year to get full time starts. Won’t hurt to let him cook a little longer.

Yep. Pick 3 to pick 8. I’m liking the way we’re playing and winning games. But just stings a little watching us fall down the draft order.

If he pans out it takes away the sting even more from that Eichel trade. Tuch is obviously the best piece from that trade, but Östlund could be a major piece if he continues to develop.

I know. But that’s why I put the part in parenthesis. If Peterka lets it be known he won’t sign an extension then he’s a young player to trade for an established vet. Peterka would just get a better vet than the others.

Quinn, Rosen, Helenius, maybe even Kulich and Peterka (if they don’t want to be here). I’m high on what Östlund could possibly bring.

And the Sabres ain’t it.

Oh man. That’s the player I was hoping the Sabres could land last year. I didn’t know he has been injured.

Am I like one of those Ranger fans who overvalue all of their players? Because I think this trade offer is terrible.

No way. He’s what this organization needs. Keep him here. Trade someone else.

Östlund is a way better prospect than Savoie.
