  1. Forgot to add that we are the youngest team in NHL at 25.90 yrs avg. Next is NYR at 26.49 then Detroit. Of course if you take away Anderson the average age drops probably a year or two...
  2. Crazy how good they are and so young. Hopefully KA will sign Jost to a new contract soon (he is UFA this summer I believe) he's good and still young and fits so well
  3. Sabres have Caps at home end of February...my son's best friend has tickets and hopefully my sons passport gets here in time for him to go with his friend to this game. It may be the biggest game the Sabres have played in years. Tonight will be tough but we already have two wins on this road trip so all is good!
  4. Agree Comrie deserves a start which I assume will be against his old team the Jets. And even then that will not be a true indication of whether he is capable started as the Jets are very good and score tons. As for the defense that everyone likes to dish on, having coached for many years a pile of different level hockey teams (and even girls for several years) one thing you learn is that you can teach defense but you cannot teach offense. Slowly this team will get better defense as they learn. The main thing is they sure can score. And if one looks around the NHL most teams play rather wide open. Living north of TO I can see the Leafs anytime and watch them occasionally to hope they lose but they win and rely on their goalie to stop lots of shots. And while everyone likes to dump on VO and talk of how all he does is score, the leafs have Nylander who is pretty much the same player and they love him. As for hot females on games, here in TO both Sportsnet and TSN have hotties doing everything on their games and reports and even have Jason Botterill's sister!
  5. Jack and Vegas sinking fast...another loss last night to NJ 2-3 and Jack has one assist in his last 6 games and one goal in his last 8 games. Calling him out really worked! Meanwhile they booed Tocchet in Vancouver yet the Canucks actually won! Gary Bettman insist in an interview that teams do not ever purposely tank. Hmm...
  6. I don't care about Jack nor Vegas...I love Tuch and Krebs will be next to really improve his game. All is good in Sabreland!
  7. Not sure if any of you saw this but this is an amazing moment for sure...
  8. I do miss Marcus...and do you really think if that had been the other way around the other guy would get 3 games? Heck I'd be surprised if they even call a penalty if Cindy did that to Skinner. We sure do miss him (Skinner)...hate to admit it but Mitts just isnl't cutting it (and I was one who stuck up for him but whatever)
  9. Tend to forget that KA tried to get Matt Murray from Ottawa but he KO'd the deal and now he is lights-out on a Leafs team that is not great defensively either. And from the list of goalies making big bucks on long contracts I do not blame KA for steering clear of any of them. Goalies always take longer to come into their own and obviously they are trying to see where UPL stands and at the same time wait for Comrie to return who I still think is a good option and often is blamed when it is the D...
  10. crazy Vegas get embarrassed by both Seattle and Vancouver...the league keeps thorwing major surrpises at us every week
  11. It was so amazing that they paid tribute to BJ just last week in TO. He was on the ice with a bunch of other great Leafs and you could see his joy and happiness being there and of course when the fans gave him a standing O. I am so glad I watched that (I typically do not watch the Leafs much even though I was born in TO and live in Canada). Great person and great player...RIP BJ On another note I am old and am a Sabre fan from day one and I too have sucked my son into being a fan so he can go through the agony with me of years of frustration! My late bro was a goalie in the Leafs organization way back in the 60s and 70s and when Punch left TO for Buffalo I followed him and have been a fan ever since. Boy were the Sabre teams back in the day ever good. French Connection and my favorite Danny Gare (I still have a authentic original home white NHL Sabre jersey with Gare's name and number 18! I was a lot younger then and probably 40 pounds lighter and I cannot get into the shirt now but still treasure it.
  12. Hate to say this but yes JE is playing great there and it is scary to think that he (Jack) might very well be the 2nd ex-Sabre to win the cup and the Conn Smythe trophy too!
  13. Not sure if Kane would be "free" but should not cost too much seeing how they gave away a pile of young good players already/ This team needs a veteran who can spark and lead the team and Kane would be perfect right about now being a cup winder multiple times
  14. In the Sabres' defense almost every game now is unpredicatable...suddenly St Louis is winning again and Columbus took down Florida last night. Please send us Patrick Kane...need a spark and he would do that for sure
  15. It is time to pursue Kane from Chicago and sign Trots as assistant coach to "help out" Granato (which of course would actually mean Trots would be coach with Granato "helping out")
  16. One can also assume that I am not alone when I say that I miss going to my beloved Sabres' games, but being Canadian, I simply cannot afford to get a passport that I now need to cross into the US, and also the price of tickets and of course gas which is absurd wherever you go. I know for sure that there use to be lots of us from Canada coming down, but I am sure many are in the same boat as I am not being able to afford al the related cost of driving down for a game. I miss going...
  17. does anybody think this is good management... For Matthew Tkachuk, 20 games of Claude Giroux and Ben Chiarot, the Florida Panthers traded: - Jonathan Huberdeau - MacKenzie Weegar - Former Top 10 pick (Owen Tippett) - 1st round pick (23) - 1st round pick (24) - 1st round pick (25) - 3rd round pick (24) - 2 Prospects
  18. typical of the Leafs to let their only real good defensive-defensman go free at a very reasonable amount of contract...this is exactly the kind of guy they need more of not less...great signing for us for sure
  19. Crazy how bad he turned out...at least we got a really good young defenseman for him
  20. Yep revolving goalies and revolving coaches...everything is so predictable. Toronto have blamed their goalies for as long as I can remember and that will not change with Murray. So Dubas gets rid of one really bad goalie contract then acquires another? Great work there...
  21. sure looks like ROR and St. Lou are hitting their stride at the perfect time...
  22. agree...Carolina is everything we'd love the Sabres to be...certainly GMKA has made big strides towards that goal
  23. Luckily I trust GMKA to be very selective and careful. We do not need any more over priced and under-working FA's. Truth is, we are pretty well set on defense, and up front with Quinn and maybe JJ coming too I think we could use a good vet center for face-offs. Otherwise, sit back, be patient and take good players off of other teams that are in cap hell (see Vegas for starters)...
  24. Sabres were quite flat after Friday night's game but really showed class and talent coming back and obviously the refs did not like the fact we contested the goal they were dying to wave off that clearly was a goof goal as their guy knocked Mitts into their goalie (refs don;t like to be made look bad as happened there). The 2nd penalty was not a penalty at any point in the game (and especially with so little time left) . Anybody can see they ensured a Florida win. Great effort though and I still am not blown away by Florida.
  25. Agreed these lousy icing's where there is absolutely NO effort need to be stopped. I also note that Florida sure do shoot a lot and run up the shot totals with many pretty basic. I am not overly impressed by Florida and their defense is pretty bland and don;t think that even after giving away their 1st rounders for the next 50 years they are anywhere near good enough to win the cup. The whole mess called thew second period started when Bryson stumbled and gave the puck away that led to a deflating goal. Florida waits for mistakes then pounces on them, which is great today but can't see them getting far come playoff time (and they have given away their future for this year's team)...
