  1. Just watched this and being disabled myself find this behaviour so disturbing. No excuse for what he did here..his Dad must not be happy... . https://ca.yahoo.com/sports/news/son-of-flyers-gm-daniel-briere-allegedly-damages-wheelchair-in-disturbing-video-165849544.html
  2. or perpatuity ( I think he meant to spell perpetuity). Yep you have come to the wrong place if you are looking for proper gramrer and spelling LOL
  3. Obviously it is not easy to put together a really good defense or teams like Edmonton and Toronto who have been trying fior years would be better then they are now. Truth is we have a far better core of good young d-men then most teams but it will take time. KA is not going to add bodies just for the sake of adding new bodies into the imix...tough to call who KA may pursue but I do trust his judgement (or I guess we have to). Goaltending will also be an interesting situation. Hopefully Levi will come and save the day but he is young and goalies typically take longer to be NHL ready...
  4. Fact does remain that we are a team loaded with young guys with a few vets thrown in whereas these other teams are vet teams with a few young guys thrown in. Someone rightly pointed out that Power has far exceeded the amount of games he has played in last few years and yes the young guys looked gassed. That is not an excuse but rather the plain truth. This is a long grind to the finish line and without key players (Tuch) and with many clearly hurt (Dahlin among others) and with obvious need in goal we are what we are. Still like this team and it's future...just needs some work which I think we all know is pretty clear. There is no way KA or Meatballs does not see these obvious needs too.
  5. Ah man I want a win so bad...been far too much negativity on here with two loses in a row...like it when they win and everybody is happy. I am happy with this season and how the team is playing, and more importantly the future! Clearly they are on the right path and it wil take time but they sure have come a long way in a short amount of time! heck last year I could not hardly watch at times but this year win or lose they are entertaining and right there with the other teams. Clearly their average age is far below most other teams and it shows of course but at least we don't have to endure Jack's pathetic temper tantrums.
  6. Just seeing that video of two idiots fighting in the crowd and seeing that guy really get hurt reminds me of so many times while I played hockey (many many years ago!), coached for many years, and also when my son was playing, recalling all the parents in the stands cursing and swearing and fighting with each other at games with kids as young as 8 or 9 playing. It is so sad that it leads to that. That video posted earlier is a sad reminder that while these people rarely ever actually hurt each other, there is that chance it could and may happen. They sure do put forward a great example for their kids to follow. No wonder the world is such a angry, dark place these days. Mind you that kind of sad and pathetic behaviour existed long before today...I recall my late brother playing back in Toronto and against other teams in other cities way back in the early 70's and they were fighting in the stands then. makes me sad and sick...and it goes on in other sports too (soccer is really bad)
  7. Nothing much has changed over the years when it comes to officiating...that was NOT a goal. I was watching the Laughs at Jersey and boy did the Leaf goalie ever keep them in the game in the 1st. Meanwhile, Jersey looks so small and were getting hammered around by the Leafs and while Jersey did get ahead eventually the Leafs wore them down and won in the third. Jersey have come a long way but they are a small team that plays small but have good success. We are a bigger team them them but play small as well but I like to think with time we will mature and start to play a more physical game when necessary. It is hard to win in this league these days as virtually every team is capable of beating any other team on any given night (see Chicago 5, Ottawa 0) and there are two things you must get to win consistently...goaltending and no crappy officiating. Our goalies have been inconsistent at best and we never get the good calls period. Tough to overcome that fact...either way I do think KA would have traded for the d-man everybody wanted so bad if Arizona would have taken the same form us as they took from Ottawa. Either way that trade sure didn't help Ottawa versus Chicago...
  8. All goes back to when Sabres were bitter at draft after being robbed on that goal Hull scored that never shloud have been allowed to win the cup for them. I heard Bobcat a sports guy up here in Canada talking about it and even he said that it is clear that the NHL resents the Sabres and clearly the refs do not call anything in our favor as revenge. Funny cause all the team's personnel from owner to GM coach and players are all gone yet we still get lousy referring. I also have toi believe that NHL wants Cindy and OV in playoffs before the Sabres...
  9. Never thought I'd see the day they gave any player that much...they always seemed to get players on "value" contracts but not this time.
  10. See Bruins just announced signing Pastrnak to huge 8 year $90million contract!!! Surprised Boston gave that much...
  11. would a good defense coach not help or maybe even solve the problem? Lots of good coaches out there.
  12. Great post and I too find this kind of double-sided...one way I do wish we'd add a good d-man and a tough forward, but then again I find it absurd what teams are giving away. These teams are playing for today while I do think KA is looking towards the future, and trying to ensure that that future includes enough young talent to ensure we are good for many years to come. Giving up 1st round picks year after year as many teams are doing is dangerous for any long-term success. Clearly these teams feel they have a chance to win NOW while realistically we would be lucky to win a game in a playoff round versus Boston and until many bulk up they'd be pushed around by the Bruins (I also agree this is not the brawling 70's but in playoffs things get real physical in a hurry) Guess he feels better to stay the course and hopefully address needs this summer when all these guys are free agents (and very many of the players traded will be).
  13. Laughs new additions looked great tonight versus McNugget and gang...I do ponder how things would have turned out if Sabres would have got McDavid??? Funny to think he has so little success with Oilers (team success not individual). He,like many teams and players, are getting older and need to do something soon. This years playoffs should be interesting with so may teams making so many changes at this deadline...
  14. I try top defend him but that was simply inexcusable and may cause us this game.
  15. Anyone who really thinks the NHL doesn't want OV in the playoffs isnt' watching the same game...that call was complete BS.
  16. Boy I love Dylan...funny some people question his new contract meanwhile TJ Oshie got a huge contract and he has a whole 14 goals after scoring both yesterday and today. Oh and big game changer when Dylan did not score on that breakaway as what always happens happened...other team goes down and scores. Too many missed chances and making their goalie look good as usual...
  17. Same old thing I fear...boys tighten up and try far too hard at home to put on a show and end up not playing their game. being so young that tends to happen. Hopefully tonight they break the pattern and beat the Laughs (although the Laughs lost to Chicage 5-3 Sunday night so they will be out for a win for sure)
  18. I am not sure that over paying for someone is a good move when we are trying to build something and adding by subtraction (as in giving up prospects and picks) seems to be complete opposite of what GMKA is trying to do here right now. Chychrun will want to go to a team that can win NOW (clearly we are now at that point yet). I am always amazing when I watch other teams how they are most often loaded with seasoned veterans with maybe one or two younger players. These teams have veterans as leaders and as their "top" players as the Sabres are opposite at this time and clearly this will take a few years to correct itself and we will have those middle-aged leaders throughout the lineup. Right now we really need a good veteran d-man to work with all our young guys back there (McCabe will work...not so sure about Schenn...)
  19. As I stated earlier it is somewhat common for teams (especially young teams) to try too hard at home and not play as well as on the road. Case-in-point was the Leafs beat Columbus rather easily Friday night on the road yet serve up a stinker at home last night and lose 4-3. It was stated that BlueJackets simply outworked the Leafs...clearly the jackets are a mess and far worse then Calgary (who are not all that great either) and the Leafs like the Sabres feel pressure to put on a big show at home. With time the Sabres will slowly learn to relax and play their game at home just as they play on the road (where they are very good)...
  20. It is kinda funny how some are now actually questioning this contract (Or Tage's or Mule's) when I think we all recall the big error of not re-signing Briere, Peca, or more recently Sam when we should have, and clearly GMKA will not let that repeat itself. I for one am glad we are signing our good young talent at what are actually by today's standards bargain contracts. Obviously with the cap and spending priorities thinking ahead and resigning a team's young players is a must. Giving older players huge contracts where they will be in their mid to late 30's towards the end of their contract is downright dangerous. We all have seen how that usually turns out. No, GMKA is doing good work and while some still clamor for him to throw huge bucks at some over-priced goalie (and there are lots of them around), stay the course and lets try to develop two good young goalies as we have started to develop good young players period.
  21. Clearly a young team that tries far too hard at home to impress fans and instead end up confused and not sure of themselves until it is too late (like the 3rd when they clearly outplayed the Canes). On the road, they relax, and are not so worried about putting on a show and just play their game and results show that when a player is relaxed and plays his game results are significantly better. There is pressure by management and by the players themselves to put on a big show at home to get fans to come back, but unfortunately it backfires as the team is far too young to go out and blow the other team out at home. No worries, will come with time...
  22. Another Vegas loss and another game of no points for Jack...our 2nd round pick of theirs is looking better every day!
  23. Vegas lose again and another game for Jack with no points...meanwhile Sens blow out the Laughs 6-2 and Calgary turn it around and win big in Seattle. Vegas are at NY Islanders tonight so I guess we have to cheer for Jack and company in this one?
  24. Truth is all teams are having problems at times this year and seems anybody can beat anybody on any given night. Colorado really struggling these days and Chicago went into Calgary and beat on the Flames 5-1! Crazy, so all the doom people who keep saying that Sabres are "almost blowing it" trust me every team is in same boat most nights and yes some of them "blow it"...
  25. Good old Flyers...see Hawks smoke Calgary 5-1 in their Calgary's barn! Never know from night-to-night who will win these days
