Washington Philly game tonight should be fun and dirty...can't wait. Really want Pittsburg ahead of either of these teams but anything but Detroit and their old vets...so tired of hearing "oh we should have signed Kane" this past season.

We have the talent. What we don't have...
sabrefanday1 replied to RETURNTOGLORY's topic in The Aud Club
All of us experts (haha) can clearly see what this team lacks (good coaching, veteran leadership), yet KA can't see this? That seems very strange... talent is there so please Mr. Adams do something and please do not just bring this same lineup back and tell us it is a learning thing and that they are young. We know... -
The negativity on this board towards players is a big thing here. I agree we keep running players out of town only to see them do well elsewhere. I get that many are tired of hearing it, but the fact is this team is young (the youngest in the league in fact). Signing a bunch of veteran free agents like Detroit is not the answer. They are no better off out of playoffs and Stevie Y is suppose to be a genius. And no one can tel me that any of the Islanders, Pittsburg, Caps, Flyers or Wings have a more talented lineup then the Sabres. They do, however, have experienced coaching and some good veteran leadership (especially Pittburg).

Arizona Coyotes are relocating to Utah as Utah HC (hockey club)
sabrefanday1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
So they pay a billion dollars but do not get an expansion draft like Seattle and of course Vegas got? Wow crazy the money these teams are worth now. With the cash TP gets maybe we can get a real NHL coach now??? -
Again I did not like this trade...MItts was the perfect 2nd center and every good team is built around strong centers. Skinner scores at a pace that this team desperately needs, and to do what they are doing with him now and basically misuse him is just another in the long line of mistakes this organization continues to make year after year. Heck, if we had kept the players we had over say the last eight years, we'd no doubt be in the playoffs with LIndy still coaching of course.

Biggest Sabres issue - losing the 1st period badly too often
sabrefanday1 replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
Time and again many are overlooking the lack of real veteran leadership on the team. Take Pittsburg: Cindy is singlehandling lifting that team. They have very little talent overall and use many older rejects but he has got that team playing well every night, win or lose. The Sabres are in fact young and lack that leadership. That is on KA for not getting a couple of good vet leader-types. I also think that the lack of real centers is hurting the team. I did not like the Mitts trade as he was a perfect 2nd center. I always thought (and still do) that good teams are built around two solid centers. Heck I thought what exGMTM did with Eichel/O'Reilly and adding power forward like Kane was on the right track. Every team that is at the top of the standings has those strong leader-type centers. Those leaders would have this team ready to go evey night. Guys like Crosby do not take a night off. Or even a shift. That is leadership...something coaches cannot put on a team. Torts is the ultimate motivater apparently judging by those who laud him and go on about him. He eventaully loses the room as he asks to much often. Leadership is pushing players to be the best they can be at whatever they are good at. Simply asking for effort every shift, every game. That, by itself, would push the Sabres to new heights I believe. And have them ready at the start of every game. -
should be interesting...Flyers looked awful lately and maybe Torts has lost the room already??? We know it is just a matter of time as Randy Travis once said til he loses that team just as every team before that he has coached. If he has indeed lost the room then they should be easy pickins. Otherwise, they will be hell-bent to win at any cost.

agreed...and we all know that premature anything can never turn out good...

Why should Granato and the assistants be brought back?
sabrefanday1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Heck make Meatballs a assistant to Gallant...whatever just get a new coaching staff -
Ah man I loved SCTV so much! I have to admit that I thought Joe was Canadian too...so good and so darn funny

Players that should NOT be on this team next year
sabrefanday1 replied to WhenWillItEnd66's topic in The Aud Club
Boone Jenner sure would look good in a Sabre jersey... -
Guess Rempke has had his way through juniors and fights with no defense which is scary in the NHL...just kinda fights with no real idea how to really protect humself.

Yes that garbage went out of the league years ago. Seen Reeves, another guy who should not be in the league, hitting Hedman which begs the question...Hedman is not overly physcial and certainly does not fight or even hit that much yet he is huge and plays very well. On this board lots criticize our defense for being small or not hitting yet Hedman and Tampa get by quite fine without him being all that aggressive. Seems to me that both Hedman and Tampa have won some nice hardware recently no? MInd you Tampa are pretty dirty at times. And little Bryson is playing very well this year so with the good young prospects we have on defense maybe trade a d-man for a physcial forward who can actually play too...oh and I would like Boone Jenner too please
-
Big brawl...yawn. Of course there is no one to challenge Rempke on the Sabres. And to be honest I really do not care. I would have liked us to keep Marcus or get someone to fill that role when needed for sure however.

Another ex-Sabre who goes on to play well? The guy had numerous chances with various teams and really good players and did nothing. Now with of all teams Columbus he is suddenly the sniper that he suppose to be with the Sabres? Strange... Amazed how the Leafs keep outscoring other teams while getting really good goaltending from yes three goalies and with a awful defense and a coach that is so similar to Meatballs. No system...just go out and outscore the other team. They look like the Sabres did towards the end of last season. At least they are exciting to watch, as the Sabres were last year (not this year...dull, boring and uninterested most games it seems)

Between 2 Stalls hosted by Jeff Skinner - LMAO!!
sabrefanday1 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Unlike most on here I like Skinner and he is clearly a likable guy that also scores 30 goals which is something this team needs badly. The contract is what it is...overpaid but then there are lots in the NHL (and al other pro sports) who are overpaid. And last year Skinner looked so muc better as the team around him looked so much better. We as Sabre fans are obviously uptight and tired and pis*ed but thsi was very funny and classic Skinner! -
Instead of buying a 30 goal scorer out why not use that money you'd be paying someone to not play to get a new coaching staff? TP is paying coaches to not coach so what is one more coach on the payroll? Or, for that matter, just move Meatballs to a assistant and hire a real head coach. Then immediately fire the assisitants and let your new head coach add who he wants to run the power play. 0-6 against Toronto is simply unacceptable.

So tired of the same old same old...even I have to admit that this is getting really sad. I am generally a positive person and have tried to stay positive while most others breath hate and negative talk here but I am starting to think that if they do not make some sheious changes over the summer then we can truthfully say that this is a 100% complete mess. I do not think that even though they are in fact the youngest team in the league, that time will suddenly transform them into a playoff team. They clearly need help behind the bench and on the ice. I know that most of you hate most of the team but the fact is there is talent here that a good coach would have a good time turning around rather quickly. Please do not try to tell me that Philly has more talent on their roster. Not even close...but they have Torts...
-
Just like the Sabres, never know how Laughs wil play. Some nights they are good but other nights there are pretty bad. Strangely their coach is kinda Meatballs clone...nice guy but bad coach with no defensive system whatsoever. Their defense is old and slow for the most part and I can see Boston putting TO out again this year. The Sabres need to come out flying but of course after playing last night who knows what team we wil see?
-
I loved when we smoked Vegas (oh and then we beat them in Vegas 5-2 as well)...and we beat Colorado and the Oilers in a game where we had to beat them twice. There were other good ones as well...heck we even beat your beloved Bruins twice
-
Kevyn and Don, should we really expect more after four years?
sabrefanday1 replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
Strange that we all kinda agreed that last year if the team had had competent goaltending they woul dhave been in the playoffs easily as they lost manyt games last year from sheer poor goaltending. This year, they have had good goaltending from UPL for the most part (certainly from the beginning of the new year) and yet they are worse then they were last season. I woul dhave thought they would have a significantly better record yet they have regressed badly. No excuse for that. Many clamoured for better defense, but where has that got us? I preferred last year's team that was at least exciting win or lose. This year they are just boring. I am so ready to see a new coach and the team bringing in some grit an deven a fighter if need be to bring some kind of life an denergy to the ice. They sure could have used that last night. I was tired of the fighting but at this point if it lifts the team and brings some energy then so be it... -
kinda saying that when the Sabres are good, they are real good (mind you when they are bad like against Ottawa they are real bad)...
-
Crazy how the "good" teams keep losing to "not-so-good" teams; case in point...Colorado lose at home to Montreal while Edmonton lost to Otttawa a few nights ago. Tough to try and figure out who will win on any given night these days, which I suppose os good for the NHL. Also points to the fact that on those nights when we think the Sabres are "not showing up", it may also be a case of the other team wanting it more and/or playing a kind of system that shuts down the Sabres.
