  1. This is a sure sign Celebrini will drop to 11.
  2. Did he really not publicly deny, or “no comment” a buyout scenario? Skinner has value and to even indicate a possible buyout would weaken your position in a trade negotiation. Or am I missing something? The world knows he has a NMC but if he’s not wanted I’m sure he’s opened up at least 2 or 3 destinations he’d go to. I’d play semi-hard ball (with negotiable retention) and hold him for another year if nothing came of it.
  3. Skinner in Ottawa on a line with Tkachuk would be worth the price of admission from an entertainment POV.
  4. I believe he thought we’d be further ahead by this time. Not sure it ever makes sense on the scale we did. Certainly the fans didn’t buy in. Get some vets on 2-3 year contracts and make the prospects out play them. If Skinner is moving on use the savings to shop in the high tier market.
  5. Agree but it is what it is. The only rationale I can see for trading Mitts is KA realizes that center spine would be way too young and wants to bring in a vet. Hopefully he now understands the blocking prospect philosophy was erroneous.
  6. The guys on XM said of all the rumored buyouts the Skinner one makes the least sense. Their rationale is Sabres aren’t anywhere near a cup contender so why make a move like that. Said you only make a move like that if you need cap space for a player you think will get you over the hump.
  7. I like them both but They combined for 56 assists last year. I want a solid plan not a hope they return to 23-23 numbers.
  8. Which part did you disagree with? My first point was buying JS is not addition by subtraction and my second point (admittedly not clear) is if you’re going to buy him out you absolutely need to use the cap savings on a center that could play in the top two lines.
  9. I don’t recall hearing a single player’s name we could realistically get to use with the cap savings from a buyout. Until I see that I’m not convinced it’s the right move. IMO the area of need is a #1 or 2 center.
  10. Florida announcer said Okie the best spoken man in the locker room and has the respect of the team. Said he wouldn’t be surprised if Okie gave the pregame speech. (Paraphrasing).
  11. I use a cheese grater on my garlic and sauté it in a quality olive oil. My brother graduated from the Culinary Institute many years ago and told me then “you can’t use too much garlic - won’t ruin anything”. So I do use a lot. My ex MIL used a ton of garlic and her sauces were wonderful. I also add olive oil to the water I boil pasta in.
  12. If KA worked for me and a Skinner buyout was on the table I’d mandate a who’s going and a who’s coming list with actual names. Not a “we’ll have more cap available and can sign our type of player”. I’d need to be convinced we’d get that guy(s). No hopium. Realistic names we’d have a high degree of confidence we could acquire. I’d also want high confidence we could replace his 50-60 points. Not “well this guy should grow into that roll”. Someone who has a history of doing it. Guessing KA’s comments that everything is on the table means he’s doing his due diligence and I have little doubt it’s not an easy task.
  13. Can’t see any reason for Philly to trade up until they see who’s available. Therefore , if true, they would just be trying to collect more draft ammo.
  14. PC reinforces my thought Forton had offer(s) and the Sabres promoted him to keep him on staff.
  15. Wasn’t there a thread last summer asking if Skinner would be a HOF candidate? We haven’t spent to the cap yet so his contract hasn’t impacted who we could sign. Rather than dumping Skinner I’d rather KA focus on getting a center first. If that requires a buyout so be it. Tage had an off year and as I’ve said before as his center goes, so goes Skinner. He actually looked re-energized when they put him with Mitts. Unless it’s a locker room issue he is way down the list of issues with this team.
  16. Could be he had an outside offer and this kept him in house. Might be getting outside looks based on our prospect pool. Thought he came across as a solid guy at last years draft interview.
  17. Serious question and off topic but is Tage a set up man? For his career he has more goals than assists.
  18. IMO We’d have to retain salary in a trade so doubt we could help the team. If any of the top 16 teams could afford him he’d be a difference maker.
  19. Needs a Callaway cap - looks like a tad Xander Schauffele. Successful Head Coach and GM of Green Bay so it would seem a guy who can manage a work load and has organizational skills
  20. Enjoying this discussion. I believe the right trade to fix this team will be considered an overpay - that’s fine with me. As Ben Cartwright once said you sacrifice a bishop to capture a queen. The queen in my mind is a balanced team and organizational personnel.
  21. Spectrum outage in my area. Wonderful
  22. The only reason I can think of for the Middlestat trade was he and KA decided they weren’t going to resign him and KA made the best deal he could. That said, I’d offer Byram as a trade chip if he’d bring our best return. Would rather have a lesser offensive D man with size and tenacity or the same attributes in a forward.
  23. I laughed but then thought it could only happen if they turn this ship around. Otherwise a new GM would be picking his team.
  24. No doubt Lindy was the guy when Adams announced DG’s release but as mentioned above I’d think there had been contact with others. Always doubted you’d get another high profile guy who didn’t want some degree of roster control. Lindy likely was more in lock step with KA.
